    That depends on many factors.
What kind of diet do you have?
    How much do you eat?
    When do you excise?
    How often do you excise?

Happens to me quite frequently, however, the key is that I get that initial loss right after the cheat and then usually end up slowly gaining it back in the next 72 hours or so. That assumes that it was a single cheat, and it doesn't start me on some hideous spiral where I decide to eat every single potato chip within a 10 mile radius of my house or something similar. I've never been able to explain that initial loss but it's pretty consistent for me, it just usually doesn't stick around long.

    low carb
    a lot
    always
    a lot

no my loss is consistent, and with a little bit of carb depletion with the carbing up should be the opposite

I've never lost weight after a cheat. I retain water way too easily for that :)

Same here. Day after a big cheat or carb day I gain at least 4lbs.

I pretty much always lose my weight after my rest day, even when I go over my cals, and even over my maintenance. I don't know why, but it's awesome.

Can be due to your hydration levels when you carb load. A "dry" carb load doesn't have enough water to refill glycogen stores like a well hydrated one.

    Sodium/potassium ratios also.

I'm like you in that unless I really spike sodium a LOT then when I carb load the increases are never as much as I expect. Don't usually drop weight but quite often just maintain.

    Agree 100% with hydration part.

I've done 3 powerlifting meets, and the first one I did everything just right. After weigh ins I carbed up like crazy and drank tons of water. I was super strong the next day for the meet. The second meet, I carbed up and avoided water, thinking I could load more carbs that way. And, while I did, I was weak and felt like crap during the meet. I performed poorly.

    Hydration makes so much difference.
