  • same here really. Nothing before, protein shake after then porridge after my shower.
  • During the week I work long hours and am very busy, food is eaten between places and generally if I can't hold it in one hand I don't eat it. No this isn't ideal but at the moment its a fact of life. On a Saturday evening I like to sit at home with hubs and have a sit down meal with a couple of drinks - this is my "cheat…
  • Thanks for the advice. My garmin syncs with mfp so I'm ok on calories there.
  • Haybales - that was so helpful - thank you! I am changing Gym's next week for one that seems a little more "engaged" with it's clients :) I am going to ask about starting to weight train then. Many thanks for your advice!
  • I use these. However there may be others which are just as good that I have not tried. You can find them on apple, android and amazon app stores. https://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/zen-labs/id485971738?mt=8&uo=4&at=10I4CL
  • It did at first. I could see from my heart rate monitor that I was burning calories though. I only sweat when I get above 140bpm and then its just sweaty hair and not the dripping with sweat and wiping the machines down type
  • I agree with most of the comments on here. :) I'm not a sweater either. I looked at people in the gym wiping down the machines and me being fine and thought I wasn't working hard enough!
  • Hi Andrew. I fully agree with Amy above. Shoes are so important. My ankles turn in (overpronate) when I run and when I was first fitted for corrective shoes it was a game changer. It can be expensive but specialist shops usually understand this and will pick shoes in your price range if you let them know. C25k apps are…
  • Hi darkcowboy. I'm seven weeks into my training plan now. I hit the gym three times a week and run three times a week. When I started I couldn't do more than a few minutes on any machine without being in real pain. I set myself a goal of being in the gym for an hour even if I could only do a few minutes on each machine I…
  • Thanks for the all the advice. I got fitted for shoes using one of the video treadmills and bought some shoes which straightened up my foot brilliantly. Someone at work has mentioned it my be a problem with my Achilles tendon. I do have very tight calves which I suffered with when I first began running years ago so it…
  • Thanks, I already have an appointment but the closest is five weeks :( I was wondering if anyone had suffered anything similar and had some advice. I don't want to stop running for five weeks after I have worked so hard for two months :(
  • Add me :) I am ShelleyBird
  • When I first started running I had huge problems with calf pain. My calves are very tight and they were ok while running but constantly sore at other times. I used to have one giant black bruise from my knee to ankle on each leg where the muscle had torn and bled. Eventually the pain and the bruising stopped but I found a…
  • I find I'm not always massivley hungry at breakfast. I like to make a burrito by taking a wrap, adding philly cheese and seasoning followed by a two egg omlette all rolled up and sliced in half. I find half of it and a peice of fruit is enough and then usually take the other half to work for lunch. I love it because I can…
  • Thanks for posting this. Lot's of my friends refuse to eat exercise cals and it worries me. I did weight watchers points a couple of years ago and it set a maximum daily points you could earn through exercise as 4. I worked out I was doing 15 a day. I made myself so Ill I had to spend time in hospital and spent the next…
  • Hi there, I've been veggie for a long time and ended up putting a lot of weight on eating what various magazines told me I needed to stay healthy. Now I stick by my calories not what I "should" be eating. Check out the blog post below it has some good basic advice on what to eat as your building blocks without adding too…
  • I suffered exactly the same as this when I first started drinking it. A Thai friend made me a cup of green tea she had brought home - I spent the rest of the day quietly lying down. Afterwards I tried a generic big brand tea (Tetleys) and found I was fine. I've found out for me it's a strength issue Tetley is fine, proper…
  • If you are excersising as well as dieting it is important to replace the calories you burn. If you choose not to eat them, you may experience quicker weight loss to start with but will then experience tiredness, fatigue and increased injury rates. You will also see a slowing of weight loss as your body tries to conserve…
