  • There’s a pencil in top right of the forum menu. Click that.
  • If you got your calorie goal from mfp, you SHOULD be eating those extra calories (or at least some of them). That’s why they are added to your total for the day. Your mfp calorie goal is figured so you’ll lose even if you never do a workout. The only way to not include them is by paying for premium.
  • And you don’t need to change your weight. You just add a weight entry for today. On the app it’s one of the options under the + sign on the menu.
  • Yes. You want to update your weight because that’s what mfp is using to set your calorie goal (which changes as you lose).
  • That helps. 1660 plus exercise is higher than I would expect. You should still be in a deficit, but it will probably be pretty small (your sedentary TDEE looks to be about 1950-so about 300/day if you add exercise on top). But a pretty small deficit you can maintain is better than anything you can’t. And knowing that is a…
  • If you just put your stats into mfp for a setup, how many calories does it give you? If you’re actually walking a few miles a day now, that’s not sedentary. But if that’s a non-lockdown/covid thing, then you may be sedentary for now.
  • How active are you (not including exercise)?
  • I also don’t want to be a jerk. But if you’re not losing weight, eating more is almost never going to make you lose. On rare occasions you may be eating so little as to be so fatigued (knowingly or not) that you move much, much less in your daily life and as such, burn fewer calories. Eating more can provide energy such…
  • That is my weight chart for the month of May. Each of those horizontal lines is a pound. In the span of less than a week, my weight has fluctuated a little over 8 pounds. My trendline is now flatlined. I’m still losing. I am in a deficit (I’ve been at this for years and have a really good handle on my calorie burn, my food…
  • https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/fenix5x/EN-US/GUID-4D9C1A64-B6FE-466C-87D7-5A31C3CFDED5.html That seems to imply there’s a setting within the activity wherein you can select “use map” to get routed back? I have not tried it and I have the 5S plus (not 5x or 6 anything) so I’m not sure what difference it would make…
  • You didn’t fail. You ate more than you needed. That happens sometimes. Sometimes it’s “avoidable” and sometimes it’s not. In either case, you’re just as lovely and valuable a human if you ate salad and dry fish or 17 bags of cookies and chips. Second-be kind to yourself. The whole world is stressed and trying to find our…
  • Mfp is actually making an adjustment (or not) based on what Fitbit is estimating as your calories burned for the day. If you do a lot of the same things day to do, then that’s probably going to correlate at least approximately to a range of number of steps-but the actual adjustment is based on calories. If you want to see…
  • I have done lots of virtual runs for all kinds of reasons. They aren’t “real” races but that doesn’t mean they can’t be fun. And right now-there aren’t any real races anyway. I do virtual runs for charities that are important to me, for things that are just fun ideas, for fun/unique race swag, and right now-it’s especially…
  • Ripped recipes allows you to filter by calories and/or combination of macros. Nutrition info will obviously vary depending on specific ingredients, and it’s not a huge database of recipes, but it’s a start. https://www.m.rippedrecipes.com/
  • I lose less than a pound a week netting 1200 (1200 plus my exercise calories-and I wouldn’t do anything less than that ever). At best I lose 3 pounds a month (it’s usually less). I started out morbidly obese. I couldn’t walk across the house without needing a break. I had to pull myself up my stairs-and take multiple…
  • And after derailing the thread with something entirely unrelated-prices are sky high on everything that currently has high demand. Even higher on things that have high demand and low supply. Some things are theoretically protected and there are investigations and what not-but last week a bottle of Airborne gummies was…
  • Someone can write a 10,000 word post full of fantastic, worthwhile into but somewhere include the word “toning” and BAM! Disagrees! Ok. So that’s not a thing, but the other 9,999 words are quality info. People disagree with OP’s who ask a question (and referencing keto/toning/building muscle/not eating enough to lose\etc).…
  • There are a zillion reasons that weight can fluctuate including the weather (not kidding). Last week I lost 0 anything - despite being in a deficit and sticking to all of my workout and nutrition plan. It was 96 degrees all of a sudden for no reason (it had snowed 4 days before). This week the temp was a reasonable 62 and…
  • This may be less an issue of the dreadful mfp database and more that nutrition info on packaging does change every so often. I’ve been eating many of the same foods/brands/items for 8+ years and every few years it seems that the same product may go up (or down) 10-20 calories for the same serving as listed on the…
  • I think I vaguely recall reading somewhere that while there’s nothing super magical about 10k steps a day, people who get at least that number of steps are “healthier” overall (weight, blood pressure, cholesterol, body fat, blood sugar, movement, risk of cardiac events/stroke, less things like low back pain, need for joint…
  • Are you looking for it it add your specific workouts to your mfp diary? Like If you went for a run; you want to see a run entry on mfp? Because it doesn’t do that (and hasn’t since at least sometime in 2014 when I first linked mine-not sure about anything before that). If you have an entry in your diary for your Fitbit…
  • Are you able to do a full, solid, regular, proper plank for a minute or so? I could do a zillion knee pushups, I could do a lot on stairs, I could bench 135, but couldn’t really do full push-ups until I could do proper planks for at least a minute.
  • This for sure! Green check marks are pretty but there’s a green check mark on an entry for a cup of pop tarts. How do you have a cup of pop tarts? It’s a tart. But it’s been verified enough to get a green check mark. Also be careful with the barcode scanner (where I scanned cookies and it pulled up an entry for pork…
  • The 20% goes both ways. It doesn’t mean that it’s always 20% over (or under). Everything is really an estimate. Just be as accurate and as consistent as possible in your logging.
  • It’s Not a stupid question. I don’t know how much your two fajitas might affect it, but it might be the weight of the food plus extra water from the sodium plus carbs (particularly if more than you normally eat). I’ve been up as much as 8-10 pounds (or more) of water weight in a day. But it’s all just water/food and goes…
  • Do you have a tracker linked to mfp?
  • While I’m not suggesting everyone go all out consuming all the caffeine they possibly can (or immediately stop consuming any), there appears to be some variability for how much is too much based on individual sensitivity, how fast an individual metabolizes caffeine and presence of (mostly unspecified) conditions. So 400mg…
  • I would probably be super hungry too if I was trying to run when eating low carb at a rate to lose 20 pounds in 3 weeks. To second a comment above, I find that I get hungry in the later stages of marathon training when mileage is very high. But for normal amounts of running? Not really any crazy hunger issues (unless I’m…
  • One thing to keep in mind on that-if you had Runkeeper linked to mfp before, it sent over your workout calories and that was the end of it. If you’ve got a Garmin linked now (and you’re wearing it all day), it’ll send over your workouts but also your total calories burned for the day (that is what is on the entry in your…
  • I need to stop drinking coffee about 8-9 hours before I’m going to go to sleep. My BF can have a cup of coffee and fall asleep immediately. I drink 4-6 cups of coffee a day and am fine. He drinks 3 cups of coffee a day and is a jittery, anxious mess. I think that while caffeine is a stimulant, I think there’s maybe…
