That looks delicious! I'm throwing my friend's post-wedding brunch in a couple of weeks...may have to make that. Yum!

It doesn't have to be strenuous on your joints if you do it right. First, you definitely need some good running shoes. Since you're a first time runner, I would recommend going to a running store to get fitted. You normally need a shoe 1/2 to 1 size bigger than what you wear since your feet swell quite a bit. Also, you…

In my work, I do a lot of financial literacy....check out our affiliate web site: http://www.360financialliteracy.org/ There is a lot of good information about home buying, managing money, etc. Hopefully some of the articles will be of use. Good luck!

LOFT--YES! Wait for sales on off-season. Sometimes they are just barely out of season. I like Nordstrom Rack sometimes, Target is pretty good, Old Navy isn't bad, but their clothes tend to stretch pretty badly, pants shrink up quite a bit, and darker colors fade quickly. It's cheap, but you get what you pay for. Sometimes…

There are lots of good uses for cucumbers! Viennese Cucumber Salad Gourmet, December 2004 Makes about 4 cups 2 large seedless cucumbers (about 2 pounds) 1 tablespoon salt 1/3 cup white-wine vinegar 1/4 cup water 2 teaspoons sugar 1 garlic clove, forced through a garlic press 1 teaspoon dill seed Score cucumbers lengthwise…

Wow! That's amazing. I am terribly at biking, so I'm impressed. My boyfriend and I leave for a 2 week road trip next week and we're hitting the Monterey/Carmel area. Maybe we should try hiking somewhere around there instead of biking :)

Agreed. If you're running for weight loss, it will help you to do intervals. Try walking for a few minutes, then jogging for let's say 5, then walk for a minute, then back to jogging. It does help to vary your heart rate if weight loss is the goal. There are some good articles on runnersworld.com on weight loss. Good luck…

I feel that way too sometimes. My weight keeps going up, when I know it needs to go down. I'm staying within my limits that MFP gives me, but the weight keeps going up. I know i have more fat to lose, so it's frustrating. You're not a number though! It's easy to focus on the bad stuff, but try to refocus on the positive…

Good point! I have to do push ups at a decline, too, and it's a great workout. Just put your feet up on a bench or chair, then resume regular push up stance. It's a totally different feeling. Also, push ups on a yoga ball, with one hand on a medicine ball, or with a bosu ball flipped over, and the "ostrich push…

Saw this on MSN and thought it was kinda cute. I think it's important to remember to accept yourself too! My boyfriend is always looking at me funny when I complain about how much I dislike my tummy (especially when jean shopping). It's nice that he loves me, just as I am. Doesn't mean I'm giving up on myself though!…

I may not be in the greatest of moods or feeling the best about myself right now, but this is definitely a treat to hear. I think we all get a little bogged down in how far we have to go or "why can't I just lose that last 5 lbs?"...and with good reason sometimes! However, it's really inspirational, motivating, and…

Thank you! It seems like more than I'm supposed to have, but I'll try it out.

I don't really know how to handle those extra calories. If I do a really hard workout or a long run, sometimes I'll burn 1000-1200 calories. Then I have those on top of my 1500...so my question to everyone is always...do I eat 2700 calories total, or do I stick to my 1500 calorie prescribed diet? Seems like 2700 calories…

I live in North Portland, and have the majority of my time in Portland, which is sometimes lovingly referred to as "NoPo" and I'm a girl. Gal just sounded more fun, so I used that all together.

Think that's bad? Check out the "fresh" nachos from Baja Fresh: Cheese calories: 1890 fat: 108 And it just gets worse when you add on meat... Too bad...there was a place near my college that had the BEST nachos and I'm sure they were worse than Baja Fresh's...

I've been going through a similar phase the past couple months. It's been really tough. I started my motivational downward spiral during the last weeks of my half marathon training. I did the race and thought that would really boost my mood and get me back in the habit, but it didn't. The problem was that I was looking for…

Wow...that's ambitious. How fast do you run??? I just ran my first a couple weeks ago and did it in 2 hours 38 minutes. Now, I was training for a 12 min. mile and got sick the week before, so that slowed me down a bit. The things I noticed from doing my first half... -Find a schedule and stick to it. I used the tools on…

That's high...almost over your zone. It's good to get it up pretty high, then let it come down, then bring it back up, etc...keeps your heart healthier than just staying at a high rate. I've also heard it's better for losing weight. Check out this site for a chart:…

Seated dips for the triceps. Place hands on the edge of the bed or chair, palms down and about shoulder width apart. Extend legs out in front and lower your body by bending arms as far as flexibility will allow, then return to the starting position by extending arms. Do 5-30. (http://www.scuba-doc.com/travexer.htm)

I think variety matters as much as calories. Whole foods (such as veggies, fruits) that are unprocessed are so much more important to me than calories. Your digestive system will be the first to thank you. that being said, i've been caught in a similar situation...I wouldn't let it happen too often, but one day won't kill…

Make sure you get some good, restful sleep too! I just saw something on 60 minutes last night linking sleep deprivation and feeling more hungry. It also talked about not being able to metabolise sugars as well when sleep deprived. Good luck. I've been there...it'll pass...

Unfortunately it said I should be between 130-144 and I don't think I could get that small. I'm at 177 right now and if I lost another 30+ lbs, I'd be annorexically thin. I think I'll keep my muscle mass. Better than the other ranges I've gotten in the past though!

I will definitely talk to my doctor about this since i know headaches are more than just a pain and nothing to take lightly. I haven't experienced these due to exercise since a couple weeks ago when I started doing longer runs. Up until my recent 8 mile+ runs (ranging anywhere from 2-7 miles), I've been fine. Odd that an…

For all the runners out there... I've been training for a half marathon and now that i'm getting into my longer runs, I've starting getting migraines the evening after my long runs. I got one yesterday after a 15k race and two weeks ago after an 8 mile run. Anyone else have problems with migraines? All I can do is go to…

For anyone in Oregon....I'm really addicted to New Seasons. So good. Reasonably priced if you can shop their sales. This is a good article on eating organic on a budget: http://www.stretcher.com/stories/03/03sep29e.cfm And they did their shopping at Trader Joe's and New Seasons.

Usually a doctor who has been trained in Chinese or Eastern medicines, like acupuncture. I started seeing one for my allergies and digestive problems and it has helped. I haven't been able to go as often as I like, but I have definitely seen an improvement in both issues that have plagued me for almost 20 years. Mine…

http://www.rmhiherbal.org/review/2000-4.html This was an interesting article about the studies that we hear about all the time. Let's remember that marketing and advertising is a BIG part of these food studies. Even smart people like doctors have their price.
