When my best friend wasn't losing weight anymore, our trainer asked her what she was doing for exercise. She had been doing the same routine for awhile and her body got too used to it. He suggested she start doing some intervals. 20 min bike, 20 min elliptical, 20 min jogging or walking on hills. She started to instantly…

It's a struggle (most of the time for me), but you will feel better. Just do it! I read this great article that helps me get up in the morning. It was by a trainer who struggles to get out of bed every day to go running (it's not just us!). He said, "I will do what I need to do in order to do what I want to do." That helps…

I think my friend made this for dinner this weekend...looks almost exactly the same as what she made. If it is, it's DELICIOUS!!!

yeah, but there is more to fruit than its nutrients. I would try to fit some in there. There is a big difference between sugar and fructose. Definitely try to fit it in somewhere...even if it's mashed up in something else. Best of luck!

I use a fleece headband to keep my ears warm. Wear a dryfit shirt closest to your body to absorb the sweat...otherwise you'll be very very cold when you're done.

And licorice! Weird, huh?

Thank you for posting this! I am going to pass it on to some friends. When my boyfriend and I moved in together last year, I heard a statistic that couples usually gain 5 lbs in the first few months of living together. That scared me, so I decided I was going to lose it instead. I did, which was great, but then over time,…

Remember it's a journey....take it one day at a time. It's not going to happen overnight. I wish you lots of success and strength! Since leaving college (6 years ago) I've lost 40 lbs and although I've gone up and down a lot and it's been a bit of a struggle, I'm happy about where I am. You can do it!!! :flowerforyou:

seated dips. http://scuba-doc.com/travexer.htm Scroll down to almost the bottom of the page. These are great for triceps (back of the arm) and easy to do since you don't need weights--just your own weight and a chair!

We all have a bit of a warped sense of reality. One of my close friends still comments on how certain girls are "cute"...I think mainly because they are just tiny. It makes me feel bad because I'm a size 10/12 and she's a 4/6, so I feel like it inadvertently is a dig at me. BUT, that's just my own insecurity talking. It's…

Amazing what a new haircut can do! Welcome back. I love the new look.

I guess what is a little frightening is that 159 is where I THINK I want to be...but maybe I really should be aiming for a different goal. It all seems so complicated. I've never been that small, so I don't know if it would be too skinny for me. I guess I'll just try to get to 159 to begin with, then go from there. This is…

It said my happy weight would be about 136 lbs. I'm currently a size 10 and would need to lose another 44 lbs to get there. I think that would be a little extreme. I wonder how they calculate these things.

I've heard that other nut butters (almond, etc) are better for you, but peanut butter (all natural as people are saying) is still pretty good. I usually have a tbsp on a brown rice cake for a snack. It's quite delicious!

I'm guilty of #6...big time. Thanks for sharing!

I wouldn't just cut down on the eggs since baking is kind of an exact science and they would be really dry, or not properly bake. You can buy an egg substitute, or try a homemade sub. I found this on the internet: Use any ONE of the following recipes to substitute for eggs in baked foods. For each egg, use: 1 tsp. baking…

You are one hot mama! Congrats!!!

I don't off hand, but if you get the America's Test Kitchen cookbook Best Light Recipes, you will not regret it. SO many great recipes with FLAVOR and cut down on fat and calories. They also tend to not use crazy questionable ingredients. I'm not much help right now...but good luck.

Interesting. We are kind of all battling our brains at times, huh? I read an article once that said not to label your behaviors as "good" and "bad"...even when we are saying "Oh, I was so good today." the flip side is that when you don't do that, you've judged yourself as bad. We all seem to let go of that self judgment.…

Yep, only time I can find is in the morning. I get up around 5:15 or 5:45, depending on the day. Sucks, but it is nice to have it over with and I usually end up feeling more awake than if i don't go. (This is coming from someone who HATES getting up early...seriously, it's a struggle every day).

Greek style yogurt! I had some this morning and it took me forever to finish because it was so filling!

Get used to having water in your shoes! My friend and I went for a 5 mile run in a downpour (when we were training pretty hard for our half marathon) and it turned out to be so much fun. We ended up running way faster than usual because we were hopping over puddles. It's really actually fun, so have a great time! Don't…

Actions speak louder than words. I was a chubby kid, too, and yes, it does mess with your self image. So, just be a great role model and make it fun!

I hate the elliptical, and yes, my feet fall asleep. I hate most of the machines at the gym. Mix it up! MWF I do crosstraining--30 min cardio, 30 min strength training. You SHOULD do strength training, no matter where you are. It's good for maintaining (and building a little) muscle while you're dropping fat. Your weight…

I have done it twice and it worked really well the first time, not as well the second. I think it's worth trying once, but probably not doing it more than 1x/year. I lost 12 lbs the first time in 11 days and probably put 2 lbs back on of that. I actually felt really good after doing it. The knots in my back were almost…

Are you getting enough protein? Make sure you stay in balance. Sometimes if I have too many carbs I'll get really tired. Do you get enough iron?

Has anyone tried the DVD from the Biggest Loser? I saw it at Target and was considering it...just want to see how challenging it is.

My boyfriend and I will be watching it. Surprisingly enough he's the one with the 90210 addiction!

You probably could, but it might be a little runny. I would try some fat-free or lowfat yogurt first and maybe some ice. You need something to hold it together!
