  • fish oil, iron tablet and chia seeds. The first and the third has done wonders for my skin and moods!
  • 80 cals - may be it's a lot but so worth it. Try moving to somewhere where they don't sell See's and rely on the generosity of friends and family who travel through the US to bring you some may be twice a year. That should keep your cal intake in check. See's rocks!! (esp dark chocolate almond clusters, not so keen on the…
  • Hmm I probably won't use for tracking, I really need more demo's/ideas on what kind of weight training to do (am a runner, so very new to all things weight training!!) Thanks for the suggestions, keep them coming!
  • wow it does look good - thanks heaps!
  • See's dark chocolate almond clusters... Unfortunately no other friends coming from the US in the next few months so will have to remain a fantasy for a while :(
  • I have now learnt my lesson in that you don't tamper with something already working. I never used to eat or drink before any distance run and the last HM I had a bit of water during the run (as I woke up the morning with a nose bleed, thought I better replenish my fluids) and ended up feeling very nauseous all the way…
  • You can kinda do this on an ellipitical machine. I do it every now and then... Good idea in theory but I'd hate to think of all the injuries people will sustain from going this!
  • I have been out for six weeks after the last HM from an ITB injury plus piriformis syndrome. Just got the all clear from physio last week with the proviso that runs last no longer than 20 mins and definitely at slow speed. Have done a couple now at 7min km's on the treadmill, feel fantastic and would like to push on more…
  • Have finally got the all clear from the physio, so can now do 20 min runs to start, am going to try it on the treadmill tomorrow! How are you going?
  • I bought the belly bandit for myself when I had my second ... didn't notice much difference to be honest BUT it was great for core support, which you need in those early days of pregnancy. My back pain diminished significantly. I bought mine second hand on ebay and sold at virtually the same price. I would advise if you…
  • Definitely, my LO's are 4.5 years old and 18 months old and neither of them have set foot on any fast food outlets, or drink any form of soft drink. All fruit juices are seriously diluted. No junk food except for what they get at other kids' parties. I make my own version of junk foods like chicken nuggets, crumbed fish,…
  • I am doing a lot of exercise biking and a bit of elliptical, but am finding that with the bike, I can't lean forward as it aggravates the pain, and the elliptical I can't do much more than 20 mins a session otherwise it all starts to hurt again. With the exercise bike I have had to work very hard to get my heart rate up to…
  • 6 weeks and counting :( I trained quite hard after an HM in mid September and it flared up, went to physio and then had to stop because I was heading overseas for a holiday, once overseas I didn't run but had to walk everywhere plus little princess wasn't cooperating so had to carry her half the time while walking, which…
  • Am following this thread with a lot of interest I am now below pre preg weight of my eldest (I have two). Whilst I have lost a fair bit of weight I am finding that my hips are definitely wider, even if it has less fat hanging off it. The result is that I look even more pear shaped than I used to be, because my waistline…
  • +1 People used to tell me "oh you gained so little you'll lose it in no time". For both my girls I gained PP until I weaned, then dropped off fairly quickly. Don't lose heart!!
  • Congratulations - welcome to a lifelong addiction to mileage :D Totally agree with #13 except for the fact the WTF's moments come frequently at 5AM when you set out in the cold for that long run :D More events on the horizon?
  • This happened to me when I tapered for my HM a couple of weeks ago (and has continued). I wonder if it's because you run less, your muscles are retaining less water, and the weight starts to drop (rather than carb loading?)
  • Congratulations!! You did much better than I did - I did my 2nd half last Sunday but finished at 2:28. What's your next goal?
  • Hi everybody, I'm a mother of two gorgeous girls (4 and 14 months) from sunny Sydney! Started running three years ago trying to shift the baby weight and just got absolutely hooked. Ran my first HM in 2010 clocking 2:27. Got pregnant with second and just started running again at the end of last year, and completed my…
  • I totally agree... ran an HM last Sunday, took some sips of water along the way (I never eat or drink before any of my training runs), and stomach was funny the whole way and it necessitated a toilet break which wasn't helpful. Will never make that rookie's mistake again!
  • Wow, I'm like totally speechless. My fastest at a 10km distance is 6.5 min/km and I wasn't functioning too well after. Lots of work for me to do then! Many thanks again for your advise mmk137!
  • thanks very much for that! May I know what pace you're doing your tempo and speedwork at? No, no real hill work unless it's incidental to the run (if I do my long run there are normally two steep sections, although not very long)... do you mean running up and down the hills as a training session?
  • It didn't work for me either, but I used Holle (German organic brand?) nursing tea and it did wonders... As did sleep, but I doubt you have that sort of luxury :D good luck!
  • So's mine, are you doing the Sydney Running Festival HM? I am eating jaffa cakes today - apparently the food of endurance athletes (I don't care, I just love them and those cals will be burnt up in no time tomorrow :D
  • There's a group called "post partum pack" if you want to meet lots of ladies who are going through similar issues... Did you boyfriend really say that? I have two girls and with both of them it took me a good 9-12 months to feel like a normal human being again. This Sun I am running my second HM so there is light at the…
  • there's a food you can add to your food diart called breastfeeding and I think one of them is by how much milk you're feeding (so x calories per ounce of breastmilk etc). In terms of increasing supply, I found that frequent pumping (if possible), sleep and nursing tea all very helpful. First two may be a bit hard but the…
  • I had the same problem about 4-5 weeks ago when I rolled my ankle and had to keep running because I was in the middle of nowhere. The physio then diagnosed runners knee. I ended up strapping the knee fully for a week, and then strapping it only when I ran for about two weeks. This week I haven't strapped it and it's been…
  • why fight it when you know you're going to weigh more - indulge all pent up junk cravings !! :D Weigh in the week after, like others have said..
  • This is why I use an HRM, don't trust the exercise calories on MFP. I walked today for 40 mins with a 13kg pram and a 10kg toddler, and that was about 190 cals, at a pace of 3.5km/h (if that's any help). It was probably at more than a leisurely stroll (lazy pace ??)
  • (1) age 36, two girls age 4 and 14 months (2) definitely no - am a sort of SAHM trying to WFH and very very difficult! (3) first one, two hour natural delivery with gas and pethidine, second one, one hour drug free natural delivery - I think it's because of the amount of exercise I did with both pregnancies! (4) Three…
