Moving onto marathons
Hi everyone! I have done six HM's in the last four years, the fastest being 2:10. After all this training I think I have worked out that I am not going to much faster than this but I can certainly go at the same pace for longer, so I am toying with the idea of doing a full marathon in 2015. Currently there are two events I…

HR during weight training
Hi everyone! Just wondering what people's HR are when they perform weight training? When I do mine, even when I am doing what I would consider fairly intense movements, I cannot get my HR above say 120-130 bpm, which is much less when I go running. Thanks in advance! KWKY

Training while ill
Hi everybody, Yesterday I came down with some sort of a weird stomach virus thing (thank goodness symptoms occurred after 10km run although my 10km run was very very slow, so arguably I was probably off before then). So yesterday I was vomiting and feverish the whole day. Today I can hold down some food and my fever seems…

5 weeks to HM - need some advice!
Hello fellow runners.. I have five weeks to go to my third HM. I started training for this 12 weeks ago, trying to do the "run less run faster" program. However when I tried to push the speeds the recommend for my goal I end up injuring myself (so far its' been ITB, piriformis and hip problems). Three weeks ago I went for…

Garmin Forerunner 610
Hi everybody, I have been using Suunto M5 + running pack for about a year and it's been good, but I really need an HRM which can - program intervals - has a split screen so I can see my pace, my distance and my HR all at the same time - download the data so I can see how I am pacing myself. The split screen thing is very…

FIRST half marathon training - anyone tried it?
Hi all, I just ran my second HM last weekend and clocked a disappointing 2:28, which was virtually no improvement from my 2010 time. My problem is speed as i know am confident knowing I can run the distance, and this is what I would like to work on before my next HM (which will be May next year) I can only manage three…

Tapering
Hi guys, I have two more weeks before my HM and need some tapering advice I have been training with three runs a week, a 10-12km, a 15-18km then an interval session which is about 30 mins (200m X 11). Today I completed a 20km run and I intend to run 10km on Saturday. Given it's two weeks to go, should I taper and if so,…

Should I keep going?
Hi all, Wondering if you could help me. I have been training for my second HM since March. The event is on late September. I do three runs a week currently - one a 10-11km, one an interval (8 x 300m sprints) and one long run on the weekend (currently 18km). Two weeks ago when I did the 18km run I rolled my ankle a bit.…

Hitting a running plateau?
Hi all, Bit of background on myself. Am currently training for my second HM (first one was about 2 years ago, then got pregnant and all that went out the window hahaha). Was going to participate in an HM in May but even though I can run the distance (I think), my time was totally rubbish (8.5min km's) Anyway... about two…

Eating back exercise calories weekly rather than daily
Hi everyone, Does anybody track this as opposed to tracking it daily? I normally exercise about three times a week, twice which are good workouts , and normally another long run on top where I burn close between 800-1000 cals. On those days I find it very difficult to eat back the calories but then on my non exercise days…
