I buy the Perdue Perfect Portions (Italian is my fave) and freeze them. When I'm in a hurry I'll just grab a piece of tin foil and one of those, along with some sort of raw veggie (bag o salad, a tomato, celery sticks...whatever). This all works for me because I have the convenience of a toaster oven at work - I let the…

I would recommend Couch to 5K to anyone in a heartbeat if they're interested in becoming a runner. A more realistic starting goal for running slow and steady is anywhere from 11 to 14 minutes per mile. Expect 2 miles of real running to take you 20-30 minutes. The couch to 5K program helps you alternate walking and running…

Yes, this. And if I feel a stitch coming on, I slow just a little and really make sure I'm taking deep measured breaths and it usually goes away before it gets any worse, then I can speed back up and continue the run. I forget where I read it, otherwise I'd post, but two major takeaways that I follow and work for me are,…

My bachelorette party is in a couple weeks and we are going ziplining! We will also be drinking boxed wine and going to seedy ski area bars, since the zipline is at a ski area. We're keeping it classy, clearly!

Forgot to mention that if it is you guys and your families putting it on, a "Together with their families" line should be used instead of everyone's names. You'll be able to spell everyone out either on a wedding website if you have one, and/or a Ceremony program.
-
I agree with this. If your parents are putting on the wedding, you leave it as them requesting the guests' presence at the wedding of Your Name and Your Fiance's Name. Putting in the Son of etc etc - is left more for a mailed or newspaper announcement. There certainly are a lot of variations that you can find online, it…

Thanks for the suggestions!!

If you really like sticking to a program (as I did - I was lost when I was done C25K!), be sure to sign up for 5K's to keep up your motivation. Knowing you have a race around the corner will keep you honest with going out for a run. "I have to run because I have a race next week!" was probably my most frequent…

Wow congrats, thats a great time! You should be really proud! I'm looking forward to my first half in August

My recommendation for anyone wanting to figure out the real calorie burn for any exercise is to wear a heart rate monitor. I have a Polar FT60 - its a little pricey, but its accuracy in tracking calories burned is so worth it to me. There are plenty of other kinds out there too! You could figure out the burn your stability…

I have found that weight training has helped me considerably. Read my profile :) Weight training will not only help you lose weight (give it a month or two to start seeing weight results since you'll be gaining muscle and losing fat at the same time!), but it really helps shape and tone your body to help you look fab in…

Try spreading your food out to anticipate the hunger strike. I plan my 9-5 work day around 5 meals: breakfast, mid morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, and then dinner. I eat just 2 egg whites and some coffee for breakfast right before I leave for work. At 10:30 or 11, I have my mid morning snack (right when hunger…

My favorite is steak tip kabobs. I marinate about a pound of steak tips in beef marinade (Stubb's is my favorite because its got a little kick and a whole lot of flavor to it, but any marinade - or no marinade - will do). I cut the steak up into chunks and with long skewers I put on a cherry tomato, a slice of onion, a…

Yes.... ^^^^^ THIS! I have been using a Polar HR monitor for the past 9 months and I love it. The strap is very comfortable (some brands do not have comfortable straps - ugh!) and the calorie burn appears to be fairly accurate. Polar also syncs up with a LOT of common brands found on commercial and at-home gym equipment so…

This is a great one for seeing a certain body shape, pant size, and/or shirt size to go along with a certain weight. Other posters may have shown simple expectations by asking what a __ft __in and ___ lb person looks like, but you don't have to bash them for wanting to know what their goal looks like. The above website is…

I agree, I can't believe how entitled they feel. What Ali, Bob, and Dolvett were all trying to say but never found the words for: STOP FEELING SO VICTIMIZED BY YOUR OPPORTUNITY. Ugh I waited all night for someone to say that and nobody ever did.

Hey there, I am actually re-starting the SBD today. I have done it a couple times before and have gotten great results. I lost about 12 lbs in the first 2 weeks (phase 1)! My downfall though, was reintroducing carbs in phase 2. It just brought me back to my old ways over time. Now that I have been maintaining a more…

September 28th! I am hoping to lose about 30-40lbs in total by then. Feel free to add me, I'd love to stay in touch with other 2012 brides :)

Thanks to all for their suggestions. I do suppose that some of the issue is that I simply don't have much going on because of colder and shorter days here in Boston - usually in the summer I am very active on weekends (ww rafting, camping, hiking) - and even in the winter I ski a ton but we have been essentially snow-less…

Agreed - you should log "treadmill" if you aren't using any incline, but as long as you keep the incline at 1-2 that will make up for the motorized version and take you more to an "outdoor walking" feel - allowing you to log "walking - 3.5mph". This is usually how I do running on the treadmill to mimic running outdoors.
-
Since there isn't a specific "Treadmill - 3.5mph" I'd just log Walking 3.5mph instead. Walking is walking, whether it be on the treadmill or not. I'd even suggest choosing "Walking - Uphill" if you decide to take your incline up to 5+.

I did the C25K program last May and am now able to run 6 miles! Here are a few of the most important adjustments that I made for myself during the time I began running: 1) I had patellar and IT band tendonitis in prior years, which kept from doing anything running-related. Because of this, I made sure to ABIDE by ALL rest…

My wedding is at the end of September and I already have a few things booked. My main goal is to attack the people who actually need to be attending the wedding, first. - Wedding Photographer: Whoever you book is going to be documenting the most important day of your life! - DJ/Band: The sooner you book, the better chance…

This is my "its the same but a little bit different every day" menu: Breakfast: - 2 egg whites, fried (just with a little Pam) - or 3 eggs, maybe one yolk. - Better Oats, Oat Revolution Instant Oatmeal (Peaches n' Cream) Morning Snack: -Chobani 0% fat yogurt (this is my "racey" chance to mix it up with whatever flavor I…

Hi vhenao! I am also getting married in September 2012 - on the 28th! I have about 60lbs to ultimately lose to be a healthy weight - and I'm 7 lbs down as of today! This last year, I started running, and have surprised myself by really enjoying it! But running alone wasn't helping me drop the weight, so that's why I jumped…
