  • Based on this, I'd recommend you try to eat to what the original goals are for the day (set by MFP and/or by you), and then do not eat your exercise calories/macros back. You might start to see some scale movement then. (Just so you are aware, the philosophy "to eat, or not to eat your calories back" is a huge discussion…
  • The biggest tip I can give you is to plan ahead of time. For me, I pre-plan my entire day the night before or the morning of. I load in my proteins, then my carbs, and make sure I stay within my fats. If I have any extra after I am done distributing across my meals, I fill in with snacks or extras on my meals to hit the…
  • What is your macro breakdown? That would help us help you. Also, how many grams of carbs are in the shake? I wouldn't say that your veggie shake putting you over your carbs for the day is "bad" but it may mean you will want to adjust your breakdown.
  • Feel free to add me, I have been doing Crossfit for 2 1/2 years now and I love it. I feel like Crossfit pushes me to constantly learn and improve, and I have gained a few lifelong friends.
  • I started Crossfit a few months ago and was scared out of my brain. I nearly had a panic attack during the WOD the first couple times. But I kept going. After a few weeks, it got a lot easier. I am in the beginning class and there are people of all shapes, sizes, and athleticism in the class. Everyone encourages everyone…
  • I came in here to be like "oh god what's happening" - ya got me! :D
  • For me, I use a Fitbit Charge with heart rate monitor to figure out how many calories I am burning at CF. I made my own exercise category called "Crossfit (HRM)" and I log it that way. If you aren't going to use a HRM, circuit training (like was said above) is a good one to use for an estimate.
  • wow it bleeped the word corn h0le? Yeah I mean its not the best name but its a real name for a beanbag toss game!
  • Not sure where you live but you may want to see if you have a social sports club in your city/state. I joined Social Boston Sports in my early 20's and it was the best thing I ever did - played kickball, *kitten* (bar league), and dodgeball (when I had never played before!). That led to a LOT more dodgeball (with my new…
  • I am new to Crossfit and have been using my Fitbit HR to track my workouts. They have varied from 250-500 cals burned in the span of 45-60 min. I created a Crossfit cardio option on MFP and I log according to my Fitbit calorie burn. So yeah. HRM would be best. And for what MFP has, Circuit Training is good enough. Business…

  • I'm doing IM30 too! Like hemmymomma, I too started Month 2 on Monday. I didn't do the original Insanity but it seems to be consensus that anyone who has done Insanity likes IM30 a lot. Perhaps a silly question, but are you wearing sneakers while you work out? I feel like all my initial IM30 pain was my burning calves, but…
  • grilled chicken thigh, organic BBQ sauce, corn on the cob, and fresh picked cucumber!
  • All of the nachos. ALL OF THEM. And Beer. Beeeeerrrr!!
  • My interpretation is that if you can't cultivate it yourself somehow, then don't eat it. veggies, fruits, organic meats, organic dairy, beans, nuts, seeds.... no additives, nothing from a can, and obviously nothing processed or refined. ETA: Also, no alcohol because it is "poison" to your system. Clean eating is hard, man.…
  • Did your doctor specifically say "eat avocados" or did they suggest avocados as one way to increase your HDL? There are plenty of other foods out there that you could eat as well to hit your HDL targets - like nuts, olive oil (salads/cooking), oatmeal.... there are plenty of lists out there of foods that will help you…
  • Here is a good website for seeing real women, at real sizes that can compare to you. I like to check this website out every now and then to see if I'm kidding myself, or if I feel like I size up to similar sized women wearing the same size pants/shirt. Everyone is so different! http://www.mybodygallery.com/
  • I have done that in the past, but now with MFP, I log it. Yeah, they are low in cals, but there are still cals. I had a side of broccoli last night, and I found that a) a cup of broccoli is 54 calories. b) I totally rocked my fiber intake for the day c) I was able to count this towards my "good" carbs for the day. It all…

  • I do this with cucumbers! I thin slice it into rounds, stick it in a bowl, and half fill the bowl with apple cider vinegar. A little black pepper on top tastes awesome too. Quick pickle!
  • Agreed! I might try this one out....sounds yummy
  • Cooked egg whites? with peanut butter smeared on it like an omelet filler? I'm trying to imagine this :)
  • I have the Polar FT60 and I love it. I got it in summer of 2011 and I still think it is the best investment I ever made because I love stats. It doesn't auto upload anything, but I find that its pretty satisfying to manually enter the info...since for MFP purposes, its just the calories. And what a difference from what MFP…

  • Thanks! It is nice to hear a success story.
  • Sigh, you are picking on me. If you're so exhausted with it, don't reply. I've tried to lose weight my entire life, and moving away from a pschology of food that I grew up with my entire life, trying to find the right path for me. It takes a long time. You don't know what I've been through, or how determined I am. I…
