As I said, less developed nervous system. There is also less environmental impact than other animal sources. And as someone else pointed out above, meat substitutes have a major environmental impact. I know several former vegetarians who added fish to their diets because they weren't getting enough protein and they thought…

This 100%. It is difficult for vegetarians to get adequate protein and B vitamins without careful attention to their diet. It sounds like you need to do a lot of research. You might want to consider adding fish to your diet. In my opinion, there aren't as many ethical concerns with eating fish since their nervous system is…

You will still be able to overeat. Work on changing those habits now. And the stomach can be stretched back out. My friend has gained over one hundred pounds since having gastric sleeve surgery, after an initial loss of around 60. She didn't follow directions, she has stretched her stomach, and now can overeat to her…

I think the point of the article is that not everyone who is overweight has high cholesterol, high blood sugar, etc. And also there are plenty of people who are in the normal weight range who do. I know many people who are not overweight, and in fact who are quite slim, who have type 2 diabetes, and plenty of people who…

No. There is nothing wrong with weighing yourself daily. And if you're the type to stress over water weight, then once a week isn't going to be good, either. If anything that is worse because you miss out on the daily fluctuations, some of which might have been lower. Either accept the fluctuations, or weigh yourself only…

Do exercises to strengthen your abs and glutes. That will help your back. Regular cardio exercise will help your exercise induced asthma. You should be doing cardio at least three times a week. (I have exercise induced asthma, too.) Just be sure to use your inhaler beforehand, and take your inhaler with you to use if…

This is true about the carbs increasing triglycerides. Based on my experience, it takes a few months for this number to go down after reducing carbs. It doesn't have to be a drastic cut, either, so no need to do Atkins or anything like that. And 184 is not that high. 150 and below is considered normal, so 184 is not that…

Experiment with different activities and find what you like to do. As others have pointed out, walking is the easiest thing to start. Find nice places to walk, perhaps a park or a nice neighborhood with pretty homes or alongside a river or lake. That makes it more pleasant. Perhaps listen to music or audiobooks while you…

At times it seems effortless for me, and other times it takes a lot of work. Overall, though, it is not difficult and sometimes I find myself getting annoyed that I didn't start this sooner.

Most surgeons won't remove the panniculus until you're very close to goal weight. You still have 50+ pounds to go, so just keep working at it. There's probably still fat in that roll, so I think it will eventually start to get smaller. And I agree with the suggestion of dresses. They are more forgiving and more…

Just keep telling yourself you've done it before, so you can do it again. Don't worry about it for now because like you said you have other goals. February will be here very soon. I would just use this down time to think about what might have made you binge. Are there some issues you need to address so that doesn't happen…

Why do you think you'll stay strong and stick with it? Because I have stayed strong for an entire year, and I have learned my lesson from the last time when I re-gained 35 pounds after having lost 65. Frankly, I think I had gotten a little cocky. Also, the first time around I don't think I realized how much of an issue…

It takes a long time for a closed refrigerator to go over 40 degrees. Back in October I lost power for a little over 48 hours, and the outdoor temperature was pretty warm (80s). My refrigerator did not go over 40 degrees, although it was in the mid/upper 30s at around the 48 hour mark. To be on the safe side, I did throw…

Bottom line, you are eating too much. You need to log everything you eat. It's easy to get out of the habit, and when you do, under-estimating calories usually begins, along with impulse eating. Don't eat back your calories burned, or only a small portion (enough so you don't go hungry). Most people over estimate their…

I completely agree. I also don't like the way some WW leaders push the packaged WW convenience foods. And I think they over simplify weight loss. I would like a lot more talk about emotional eating. I do think WW might be good for a beginner who has no sense of appropriate portions or nutrition.

Remember that weight loss surgery is just a tool, not the answer. You will need to change your lifestyle regardless of whether you have weight loss surgery or if you lose weight the traditional way. The only difference is weight loss surgery requires even bigger changes than regular weight loss does. People can and do gain…

I had a lot of problems with the pill. I am very sensitive and would get insomnia, acne, and other unpleasant side effects. I started using the Nuva Ring a few years ago and I LOVE it. I had no side effects whatsoever. The localized application reduces the risk of side effects. By the way, I haven't tried it, but I thought…

Probably circuit training

I think you should return that dress and buy another one that fits the body you have now. Even if you do manage to lose several pounds between now and New Year's, the dress still may not fit. There is no way of knowing where the excess fat will come off. And from how you describe your body, it sounds like you just have a…

I've seen people do this at my gym. If there's nothing scheduled in the room, why not? There might be people who wonder what you're doing, though. If you don't mind getting a curious look or people asking you questions, just do it. Who knows, someone might want to join you.
-
I agree. Plus hardly anyone actually gave her any advice, and what advice was given was buried by an absolutely ridiculous argument that had hardly anything to do with the original question. Why do threads on sugar have to get like this? The OP asked a simple question.
-
I think the elliptical or stair stepper would be better choices for getting some glute work with your cardio.
-
Have you ever taken a barre class? Every one I've ever taken is intense!
-
I log it as general aerobics. My gym, Equinox, lists my Barre class as burning 298-646 per hour, depending on intensity, for a 160 pound female.

This is not uncommon. I sometimes have them. It could be caused by dry skin, even if your skin doesn't feel particularly dry. Use a really good lotion and see if that helps. I like Eucerin's skin calming lotion. Also, it sounds like you should consider addressing your alcohol consumption. Stress can contribute to hives.

Plus, if you want healthy teeth, you need to brush them. An initial goal of 55 pounds is a very ambitious goal which will probably take her a full year. That is hardly lazy. And once she gets close to that goal, who knows, maybe she will set a new goal to lose another 30. One bit at a time.

Somehow my reply got posted before I was finished typing and the edit button is missing.... Anyway, what I wanted to say was that perhaps you don't need to get used to having a completely different figure type, just a smaller less bottom heavy hourglass.
-
Are you sure you no longer have an hourglass and are now a more rectangular shape? I'm wondering because it seems most women with that shape keep it, it just might get more or less dramatic. Maybe you just need to get used to being slimmer rather than a c (I had an hourglass figure when I was very slim, weighing around…

It sounds like you're measuring yourself at your navel, or where you wear pants, rather than your anatomical waist. Pear shapes have slim waists.

The first person who commented on my weight loss this time around was a fitness instructor at my gym. I had lost only around seven pounds, but that was two inches from my waist and two inches from my hips, so those seven pounds made a bigger difference in my appearance than you might think.
