  • I will finally be released to workout again post-op on Thursday. Having a few healing issues on one arm so I'm going to start fresh next Monday, but I honestly don't know how much running I'll be able to do right out the gate. The goal for March? Get back to running! By the end of the month if I can run a full mile (though…
  • My surgeon's office meets once a month for support group -- I haven't been yet. I was sleeved in November and refused to go to that meeting since I was less than a week out and they were meeting at Bob Evans for a Thanksgiving meal together. December's group they cancelled. I don't think they had one in January and last…
  • I think I just finally got a handle on it...I'm 20 weeks out. Sometimes when I'm really hungry I still overload my plate, but I've become much better at serving myself and at stopping right when I realize I'm full. Just remember to go slow and chew a lot!
  • Sleeved here on November 2nd, so we aren't far off from one another. Unfortunately, I have about 100 pounds on you...
  • Three weeks post-op. Still on soft foods. Did a lot of car travel this weekend, but no real diet changes for weeks. Yesterday, was up a pound. Today, up another. I'm pissed.
  • I'm three weeks post-op and have been weighing myself almost daily to try to get a feel for what my body is doing. Have had gains the past 2 days and I'm struggling with that, so I wonder if I should back off to once a week.
  • *nods* Honestly, what works for one person simply doesn't work for another. And what works for one person might not work all the time either. So absorb whatever information you get, do your own research and determine whether you think it's appropriate for your situation, your life, the way you like to deal with things,…
  • THIS. Seriously, it's hard for those of us in it for the long haul to keep the newness alive after so many pounds lost because we think in our heads, "I should look amazing by now! I've lost over 100 pounds!!" Keep at it and, like Momma Kit said, find some before/after pictures and post them to remind yourself that things…
  • A LOT less eating out. A LOT more portion control. Indulgences are just that. I cook like a friggin' monster. I drink a crapton of water. More natural, whole foods, cooked at home where I control the salt and oil content. My tummy loves me for it!
  • Top on my list!
  • Amen. Kick, scream and cry your way through a workout like a 5-year-old in full temper tantrum mode...as long as you do the workout. ;)
  • Yup! And I use full-fat cream in mine though I limit myself to my morning 16 oz cup and that is all (except on the weekends...when coffee becomes more of a "treat" or dessert for me sometimes...). When I was working 2 jobs and going to school full-time, I had coffee morning, noon, and night so it was challenge enough to…
  • I had the same problem...but you can make your own tomato paste. http://theitaliandishblog.com/imported-20090913150324/2009/9/20/make-your-own-tomato-paste-estratto.html Seems like an awful long and tedious process though...
  • Their idea of "health food" is a salad from Wendy's.
  • "Seventy-five percent of the people you meet in this world don't like you and never will. Focus on the other 25%." - One of my high school teachers
  • Yep...that's how I broke mine of 7 months (also crossing fingers here). I actually ate at maintenance and tried to back off a LOT (almost completely, but not quite) from exercise for 2 weeks. When I went back to eating at deficit, I started losing again. It was brutal, and yes, I gained a couple pounds in those 2…
  • In the morning. Every morning. Shh....it's a secret just between you and me, okay? Don't tell a soul! (I only log the weight from each Friday, though...)
  • Yep. I tend to think people remember us much differently than what we actually look like...or just have a vague recollection of us in their memory. (Depends on how long you've been away from one another.) All in all though, shouldn't matter. Friend's a friend - 30 pounds lighter or heavier. ;)
  • Turtle's info is really great. (Though, for future reference, if you have more than 100 lbs to lose, you have to cycle through some of those phases again and again and again...)
  • Yay! :) *best friends* Seriously, I really only follow college ball. I'm from Ohio and live in WV, so those are my 2 teams. Buckeyes and Mountaineers, baby! WOOT! But when it comes to NFL...if I have to root for anyone, it's the Patriots.
  • No more junk food. Done. Over. Eat healthy or starve. (Trust me...they won't starve. Survival instinct is great at keeping kids alive when there IS food but not the food they WANT.)
  • YAY!! It feels amazing to hit that point, doesn't it?!
  • I agree that commenting on her progress or a particular tough workout is a good way to go. A "nice set!" gets you in the door. I don't get hit on at the gym, but the guys who have talked to me have always started with something like this. One guy commented on how I could do a heavier lift than he could on the leg press…
  • Not "carbs" so much as breads and sweets. Those things can trigger me like nothing else. If I stick to my plan at least 80-90% of the time I can keep the cravings at bay.
  • I love to hike, but I have yet to do one that takes more than a day. My goal is to one day spend a few days on the Appalachian Trail just hiking and camping and enjoying being "lost" in nature...but I'm not sure enough in my abilities yet. We've hiked through the Old Man's Cave area with our huge husky/elkhound mix and our…
  • Mine knows but doesn't seem to care. He always gives me a "good job!" when I lose some and a "you'll get it next time!" when I don't. :)
  • You put wheels on your feet and then try to MOVE in them? Sounds just as crazy as putting metal blades on the bottom of your shoes! *smh* ;) (I have never had the courage, balance, or ability to roller skate. Period. By the time rollerblades came out, I already knew that. *lol*)
  • A superfood for me is a food that self regulates. In other words - eat this and I either: - will stay fuller longer. - can't seem to overeat it. This week my superfoods are cinnamon almonds, dates, and spaghetti squash. :)
  • He's got all the site URLs so he must be right...because everything on the Internet is true.
