  • This was timely for me to read. I feel so much better overall, feel better in my clothes, have a lot of energy, etc and am just starting out - 3 lbs. down. Thanks for the advice. I'm learning to fuel my body with "good' foods and I know it will make a big difference.
  • There are tons of posts about this.....here's my understanding of it: MFP gives you a calorie intake for the day based on the amount and frequency of weight you want to lose (1 lb/week, 2 lb/week, etc). So, when you exercise you add calories to that total - you just need to be sure you still consume the NET total of…
  • When I attended weight watchers, the leader said to at least get a pair or 2 of basic pants (black, brown, etc.) that fit you currently - not expensive but ones you can fit into. That way you can reward yourself but not go over board. Congrats on your success thus far!
  • I had no idea. I need to look more closely at the label!
  • I like fresh pineapple or strawberries with a small amount of strawberry yogurt mixed in. I prefer it with sweet fruit in it. Lots of protein in cottage cheese! I had some for lunch as a matter of fact!
  • Why on earth would the school expect you to bring his coat? If he forgets his lunch are you supposed to bring him another one? This is not teaching responsibility in my opinion, although the degree depends on age I suppose. At my daughter's school if you forget your coat you sit inside for recess (boring!) and if you…
  • If you think you will actually go - then join. It can really help with getting into the discipline of exercising, at least it did for me. I now enjoying going at least 5 days a week. If you can go to the gym following work, before work, etc. before you get home and are tempted to sit on the couch, then it's a good…
  • You should be proud - congrats!!! I probably eat half my exercise calories. They usually end up being my evening snack as I'm hungry before bed sometimes. From what I can tell, many MFPers say to eat your exercise calories - particularly if having trouble losing weight. Not to mention you need the fuel if you are working…
  • how about a parfait? if you have yogurt or pudding in the pantry you can layer that between the berries. or make a crumble with some oats and spices. Not real sure of the calorie content of these ideas - since it depends on the type/brand of ingredients you have.
  • Are you able to join a gym or the YMCA? They offer child care usually. If this isn't an option, maybe walk or jog with them in the stroller? It was hard when my daughter was small as well. You may need to get a friend or relative, etc. to watch for a period of time so you can exercise if it's important to you. It's also…
  • I was just replying in another post about oatmeal. here are some of the things I like to add to plain oatmeal: *peanut butter, chocolate hazelnut spread, honey almond butter *pumpkin butter and small amount of slivered almonds *frozen peaches and cinnamon (tastes just like peach cobbler!!) *canned pumpkin, pumpkin pie…
  • The first thing I noticed is that you often go over your sodium intake. Pay closer attention to the sodium content of food and/or use less processed foods perhaps. Make sure you drink all your water too. I'm thinking you may need to up your exercise? Or try something different with your exercise.
  • 4 tablespoons hummus + 1 tortilla: 190 calories (use tortilla or wrap with whole grains and fiber such as Ak-Mak & Alvarado Street Bakery Toritllas). High fiber cereal, dried fruit, nuts = 1/3 cup is about 150 calories 1 cup yogurt+ 1/4 cup fruit + 1/4 cup cereal = about 180 calories Mix 1 TBSP peanut butter with a little…
  • Here's another twist to "ants on a log": celery, with a laughing cow swiss cheese wedge and craisins! It's delish!
  • Hi Jodi- I sent you a friend request. Good luck on your weight loss so far!
  • This sounds like a good breakfast. Instead of the egg, Imight put a tablespoon of peanut butter on the apple (if eaten raw) or mix into the oatmeal - that is rather yummy!
  • I agree too - I've done WW on and off since having my daughter in 2005. The boards on WW online are negative and mean! I couldn't believe it sometimes. I'm new to MFP but have already gotten the hang of it and seen some results so I'm sticking with it!
  • I'm married and have the same hobbies and interests as I did before I met my husband - why should that change? You were an individual before you meet and will be afterwards. I do, of course, spend the majority of my time with my family but if I say I'm going to the gym with a girlfriend or to the mall, etc. he doesn't…
  • I totally agree! This helps break up the monotony in my work day
  • I like the flavored stevia drops for a change of pace.
  • Try sunflower seed butter - it smells delicious! I know you can get it at Trader Joe's.
  • Maybe try sweet potatoes? They are yummy! I tend to like "sweeter" veggies like this or sugar snap peas. Maybe even try different seasonings or dips to help you eat them.
  • Thanks for sharing - I'm sure that wasn't easy. Just remember you are resilient and that you are worth taking care of yourself. You will feel both physically and emotionally better which will in turn help you to continue to deal with the cards life deals you. Best of luck.
  • I appreciate your post. It's easy to be discouraged when I feel I've worked hard and deserve to see a change in my numbers on the scale, but I have to admit I FEEL so much better, like myself more when I eat right and exercise. I'm actually starting to look forward to my workouts! MFP has been really great - and I've only…
  • I've always wanted to try this - I'm going to make a point to look for it at the store this weekend. I use Arnold sandwich thins - multi grain. The only NI I can recall right now is that they are 100 calories.
  • Once a week, preferably at the same time of the day with the same type of clothing on.
  • I would love to be MFP friends. I could always use more support!
  • the main thing is to order without the cheese. you could get chicken fajitas - eat mostly the chix and veggies, maybe one tortilla.
