This seems doable, I need at least one more healthy snack of 200ish calories so I'm not cranky  I also wished I liked eggs!

This is a very true statement!

I weigh about 30 lbs. less than you and I eat 1600 cals a day, more on days I exercise - like 1800-1900. i would say you aren't eating enough. Not sure what you are eating in a typical day - but slowly increase your calories and continue everything else you are doing - best of luck!

my favorite protein powder is the brand from Whole Foods, but I'm currently using one sold at Vitamin World (can't recall the name at the moment). Either are good with water. I usually blend with half a banana or other fruit - peaches, blueberries (frozen). someone else on MFP recommended adding cottage cheese, so i've…

pokermom- look under the tab next to the message boards - groups. you can search there for the NROLFW group forum. hope that helps!

You're welcome! I've enjoyed lifting - it's something different for me, I've always been a cardio-nut :) Definitely check out the group forum - lots of great women on there for support. oh and congrats on losing 15 lbs so far!

there's an entire forum on MFP for those doing the training in this book. I'm still in stage one and would recommend reading the entire book through first, making sure you have proper form on the exercises and then hit the weights! I'd also do the protein shake after lifting - this has helped me tremendously. good luck!

Try celery with laughing cow cheese spread (light swiss) topped with craisins, it's a spin-off of "ants on a log"! EDIT: I think I posted this at the same time as someone else :) it is good.

"Play Deep" by The Outfield - first cassette I bought, purchased in 1985 :) I was all of 12 years old :)

My situation is similar to yours - hubby, kid, work, etc. I exercise monday-friday from 6-6:30am. I get up about 40 minutes early and drink a glass of water to re-hydrate myself. This seems to do the trick for me. I'd say the more you do it, the more accustom your body will be. I've even slept in my workout clothes before…

I haven't read every single post on here, but just wanted to say that not all Christians feel the exact same way as some on here. I felt it necessary to get that out - I am Christian and think that it would be important to be with someone who believes in God. Once you have kids, it could get complicated in how they are…

Neglect is a better word perhaps. Possibly lack of education, socio-economics factors, etc. If you drive into the city where I live there isn't even a grocery store within walking distance and if you don't have a car or have to take public transportation it is somewhat of a challenge (not saying this is an excuse, but it's…

This is a complex issue. I'm not sure if I'd term it "abuse", but it is certainly unhealthy if kids aren't getting proper nutrition and exercise. And of course the emotional impact (being teased, low self-esteem, etc) is also sad.

Here's what comes to mind (I also work full-time, have a family to prepar lunches for as well so I can relate): turkey sandwich, salad with a protein, veggie burger (black bean ones are the bet!!), the occassional baked potato in the micro with veggies on top, cottage cheese with fruit, greek yogurt with fruit, protein…

WOW! This was so timely...I've been coming to the same conclusions that you have. I actually start my weight training tonight and am really excited now. Thanks for sharing you success - you really do look fabulous and it shows!

I think having one a day is fine - if they help you get your daily of protein - its a good choice after a workout. I usually have them as a snack in the afternoon before dinner. I like protein shakes after a workout personally.

....ok just read the posts with the cat pictures - HILARIOUS!!! That cat and I are on the same wave length I guess! I don't get what this has to do with the original question about whether or not its ok to eat sweets?

Hello all! I've recently had an "a-ha moment" and am going to stop starving myself :) found this group just in time! Thanks for all the great information I've read so far, can't wait to learn more. I'm 39 years old, my TDEE is 2430, BMR is 1886, RMR is 1820 (assuming I did the calculation correctly). I'm shooting for…

Hello - my name is Dana, married, mother of on 6-year old girl. I finished reading NROL4W and am very excited to be starting this coming Tuesday! I've always needed to lose a little weight (20 lbs. or less) but struggle with the eating side of the equation. I like to be active, have done my share of cardio :), and usually…

I think you should focus on how you FEEL, not so much on the scale. You said you had a great week, so keep that in the back of your mind and keep doing what you are doing! You will see results - I weigh myself once a week or even every other week because anything more than that just makes me crazy. Best of luck to you.

I stumbled upon this thread because I decided today to increase my daily calories. I want to lose about 15 lbs. but more importantly I want to get strong and plan to start a strength training program on Monday. It just dawned on my the reason I've been so spacy and crabby lately is that I'm not eating enough!!! Duh! I'm…

Ushers do a head count and we sign the pew booklet - but that's mostly used to follow up with guests/new people. I attend a Presbyterian church.

Check out this post on MFP from just the other day - it has a lot of great recipes. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/506340-milkshake-recipe-37g-of-protein

I'd start by putting veggies in other dishes to "hide" them. Add to chili, sauces, soups, etc. Mixed with other things they may not taste as bad. I've always liked veggies, some more than others. I would try to find one or two you like to start with - don't worry about eating a large variety at first. Find a dip or…
