Stopping the coffee won't help but stopping the cream and sweetener will!

I love these stories of overcoming obstacles and pushing through. Your obvious happiness in life is so inspiring! Thank you!

Great posts ladies and I know all too well about anxiety. I'm OCD and it's a part of my life. Let's support each other day by day....that's what works for me -- making each day a separate goal. Looking ahead gives me anxiety and I heard an awesome quote about looking back......don't look back, you're not going that way!

I about lost my life due to a distracted driver....rolled my car several times and am still paying for it physically to this day. Due to this, my tolerance for stupidity on the road is slim to none. Just a few days ago I saw a young lady texting with both hands while driving on the freeway. I agree that this should be…

Yep! Those fat loss bursts are known as the WHOOSH effect. “Even the toughest fat loss plateaus eventually experience a ‘WHOOSH’ effect where your body weight rapidly drops. This happens because of a strange biological twist of fate in your fat cells. “During a regular fat loss program, your fat cells, which normally do…

Check out this link. It speaks to exactly what you are wanting to know: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/621558-gaining-weight-while-still-dieting-and-exercising

I've loved reading all of these! Let's see........I have had OCD all my life but it started to get a lot worse a few years ago when a close friend died in an ATV accident. I'm doing my best to manage it but the obsessing over weight loss is really working to my benefit!! I workout 6-8 hours per week so that's good! Oh,…

HAAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAAAA I literally laughed out loud on that one!

How funny, I was going to create a 40s+ thread! I'm 40 and have 28 pounds more to lose. I'm married, have 4 kids and post daily. I'm exercising 6-8 hours per week and love it. I'm gonna do it this time! All - please feel free to add me so we can join together in our weight loss journeys!

Great job!! I'm always amazed at how much people's face changes during weight loss. Very pretty and great job on the transformation!

My source of headaches is low blood sugar. I also agree with a minimum of 1200 cals is needed.

It's common your metabolism dips a little and also agreed with the prior posts that the kind of food you are eating matters too. I experienced the same thing when I got back into it but that was also due to me having horrible sleeping hours. If you are working out as well as dieting, listen to your body and get some more…

Great replies and agreed, drink water when you are hungry...flavor it if you like. Also, when you are hungry, EAT! Just eat high volume low fat food like fruit.

I hear ya....what is working for me is making each day a goal. If I look too far ahead or look at the scale too often, it can be discouraging. One day at a time! Feel free to add me and like friends do here on MFP, we can encourage each other!
-
Since you are also exercising, are you netting 600 calories on your fast days or grossing 600 calories?
-
Carbs are my weakness too! Feel free to add me, I post daily and am happy to send/receive motivation.

Shout out from Pennsylvania! Send me an invite if you are in the area!

Another idea......incorporate competition. Many of us are competitive so incorporate into your family. Set goals and rewards. For example, I started an Ultimate Frisbee family night and we'd go out for italian ice later. Now, it's grown into our family plus a lot of my kid's friends joining us and we do it once a week now!
-
I just restarted three days ago too. Feel free to add me if you like!
-
Thanks all, much appreciated!

There can be no cost to dieting and exercising. With all the fancy plans, pills and programs, simply eating less calories than you burn equals weight loss.
-
Awesome advice! Throw the bad food away. Its still wasting money if they buy it and eat it but at least you've eliminated the eating part! Throw it all away! Do it now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was thinking the same thing. Start with your kids and get your husband to join your side to save their lives. I mean, that's what's really at risk here. Also, you are the parent so do not allow them to eat junk food. Work with your husband on that and if he insists on having his own junk food, have him hide it or eat it…

I'm 230 and struggle with moderate knee pain and chin splints so what I do is walk at a steep incline. That kicks my butt and I end up burning more anyway!
-
Good question and I've wondered the same thing. For the past few days, I've netted about 7-800 calories under target. I hope I'm not "starving" my body so it in turn banks fat. Any further direction would help!
-
HA! I used to think the same thing! This accountability really works. Where I struggled in the past is eating things that didn't come up in here. I soon learned what you don't track can't be improved. Good luck and feel free to add me.

Welcome M8. This is a great place for support. I'm looking for the same. I've got my last 30lbs to lose and have added 60min/day of cardio. I've lost 6 lbs in my first month of that! Good luck and let's rock this bloody jank!!!!!

Hi, I'm Greg. I'm 40 and looking to lose my last 30 lbs. I've restarted my diet on May 19th and am also exercising 60 min per day, 5-6 days a week. Let's keep each other accountable so add me!
-
Great timing to ask this question! I just read a great feed on here about how weight gain for the first month or so of an exercise routine combined with diet is very common. The reason for weight gain is basically due to your body adjusting to the new lifestyle you are establishing. It does this by storing water weight and…

You are right about that. A man should have no less than 1600 per day and a woman no less than 1200 per day. That is net after exercise too. All of the advise given here is spot on. I'll add a new thought. For me, I realized that food was too much of a source of fulfillment and satisfaction. I would get excited about…
