If you want to follow a "program" try South Beach or the Paleo Diet (more restrictive). I started by just giving up breads and sweets. It helped so much that I decided to go Paleo. A couple of suggestions- Have your thyroid checked. Go low carb on either the Paleo Diet or South Beach or your own version. Try The Clean Program by a Dr. Junger. For me Low Carb is the key and I am pretty active.
