I started running out of anger! This, after dissolution of a relationship with a guy who was not good or good to me. The anger had to go somewhere, so I started C25k (at 228#). Every step was on his face!!! Took over two years of running for the anger to resolve itself. Now I run for different reasons. :)

Outside! I just can't find joy on the treadmill. Max run is 3mi and that is torture! Outside = sun, fresh air, mini goals (like a tree or sign), 'breaking through' to the joyful part of running, freeing my mind... It is harder and the weather can make it worse, but I try to embrace the challenge. I can't wait for temps to…

I do, too. Add me and I'll try to help.

I've been running for 3yrs now. Normal run is 3mi and long run is 4-10 (so far) depending on what I'm training for. I ALWAYS hate the first 15min, every single run! It's hard! The next 15min is OK and it starts getting GREAT after that 30min. It takes that long for my mind to settle down, to let go, to get out of my own…

I'm ready and haven't done a good challenge in a while! Count me in! 193, would love to get to at least 180 by then! ETA: Just saw the list. Too many variables. Maybe next time...

Great job on the Half! My first will be early summer w/ training starting this week. I did a 10-miler last fall and, like you, found it very difficult to balance my running goals with losing weight, fueling my runs, and being hungry from them. Sounds like we are in similar situations. I've lost over 40# since I started and…

Echoing the support for C25k. Started running at 227# with "bad knees", partly congenital and partly due to hauling my big *kitten* around for 20yrs. Running has made the muscles surrounding my knees stronger and I have STRONGER joints and LESS pain as a result! First 5k @ 218# and first 10-miler last fall @ 187#. Will do…

Fueled solely by anger for almost 2 1/2 years!!! Now, that I have that out of my system, I have better reasons to run! :)

At 45, I started running (Couch to 5k) out of anger, really. Relationship dissolution... every step was on his face! I have knee issues as well and have found that running has actually made the muscles surrounding my knees much stronger and seriously reduced the pain/weakness of the knees themselves. I started slowly and…

In my 2nd week w/ Samsung Galaxy Note 2. LOVE it!!!

^^ Too funny. And old lady got mad at me playing Bingo because I daubed too hard!

I don't think there's any question, is there?!

My picker is broken and those that pick me are psycho. Lovely.

Yes, that's it! It's an AWESOME solution! And a lg pkg at Home Depot is about $2. I think I used about 1/2 over the course of last winter. I didn't really trust the idea until I got the testimony of my dog's vet, a longtime runner. I was shocked at how stable it is and was not preoccupied with slipping or falling at all.…

I much prefer "screw shoes" and last year ran outside all winter in MN in them and trusted them completely. 1/2" slotted head sheet metal screws screwed into the bottom of your normal running shoes. Cheap, stable, and very effective!!! Google for instructions/video.

Came across a bday card this wknd that my bro had sent me almost 30yrs ago. He was in HS and I in college. My 10yr old nephew thought it was hilarious and my bro even remembered giving it to me. Something like, "Helen Waite & I got you a bday present." *open card* "So if you want your gift from me, go to Helen Waite!" Oh,…

Me, too! Sending a request and would love some from others - feel free! Many of my friends from earlier in the year have become inactive. :(

bump to get back in next week

Started running at 227# and age 45! So yes, you CAN do it!!! Google 'Couch to 5k' or C25k for short. Perfect program to get going again. I had never run a day in my life and will be running a 10-miler next Sunday! Good luck!

I sewed in many, many shirts. Seemed like such a waste to give away a whole pile of things only to go out and buy the same things all over again. My Mom & I spent an afternoon one weekend when I visited them taking them all in. She was thrilled to help! I did donate A LOT of things that couldn't be altered or I just never…

Changed my life forever!!!

Ugh, it's a mixed bag, isn't it?! I know I LOOK thinner and am maybe too satisfied with that, esp since it's been almost 20yrs since I've been this size. However, I FEEL fatter and still have about 30# of blub to lose. I guess I feel good in public and not nearly as good alone.
-
That's crap! 40D and 227# when I started running. Champion Powerback bra was all I needed. NO issues whatsoever with the boobage. "Bad" knees all my life. They are actually hooked together wrong. Running made the muscles around them stronger, so now I have NO knee issues either. Change doctors and enjoy running!
