Amen, sister. my diet will help me lose weight. Exercise will build a body that keeps it off. Also, the exercise is the best mood lifter -- I feel better both physically and mentally.

I am 53 currently but started this process when I had just turned 50. I have lost the first 49 and now am back on track to lose the last 50 to 60. I'm not sure how much I'll aim for in the end as I have never had the muscle I have now. I am more fit than I have ever been. :-)

I have used a few different ones. I choose the vanilla flavor and blend it with fruit to make a smoothie.

I have a Basis Peak. It tracks steps, heart rate and sleep. It does require frequent fussing to keep it synced with my phone. Also, steps come in at about 1/2 of what my FitBit would estimate. It's very new on the market so perhaps they will improve it over the next few months. It does not seem to recognize when I am…

I have been wearing my Peak for about 48 hours now and love it. If I can't link the apps, do you know of a way to manually add the calorie burn to MFP?

I'm far from perfect at squats but I have found three things helpful: 1 - the "smith machine" or what ever 'attached' squat rack is at your gym -- it keeps the weight on an even path and even lets me lean on the bar a bit to feel the proper body angle 2 - use a 'step up' box as a safety net -- if I know I will sit on the…

I got in the habit of making Tuesday's my official day when I was working with a personal trainer (we met that day and he would do my monthly weight/measure on that day). It has worked as an 'average' day.

Best investment in myself I ever made? Meeting with a fitness trainer! He taught me what all those machines were for and gave me guidelines for how to workout on my own. Even if you can't continue with someone long term, even a few sessions will get you started.

Save the book money and spend it on a consult with a dietician

I eat 25% protein, 25% fat and 50% carbs and I've lost 53 lbs. our bodies need all three.

I started taking a picture of myself once a week so I could see progress as I'm working to remove the 'fat suit'.

How is your water intake? It might be that you are not drinking enough.

5'9" currently 225 20 or an XL 6 months ago at 274, that was a tight 22 (probably should have been 24s) and XXL or 2Xs. I'm looking forward to seeing what a toned body at the appropriate weight will be - thats a woman I've never seen (I've weighed that little but was not toned.)

I do 5 to 10 minutes of cardio as a warm up but that is not my "cardio workout" for that day - I come back after weights to do the full cardio work out. Others are right - my form suffers if I do the full cardio before I do the strength training.

Turtle neck, floor length, long sleeve cashmere knit dress - covers everything and shows EVERY curve. (hopefully, by next New Year's Eve.)
