I got my PR from 25 minutes down to just under 23 this year, so it's definitely possible. Sounds like you've got a pretty good plan in place.

I know I'm a little late to the party here, but it's definitely been defined in different ways by different people at different times. The first time I heard about gen X, it ended with those born in 1976, putting me into the next generation. It's been modified because of the large shift in technology since the 90s. I think…

Appropriate pacing is entirely individual. 11 to 12 minutes miles could very well be too fast for the OPs current level of fitness. OP, take your heart rate periodically (like when you have to walk). The most efficient way to develop your aerobic fitness is to keep your heart rate below 70% of max. Right now, that might…

My target weight is pretty close to where I was at senior year, but I have a lot more muscle now, so if I make it I'll have much lower body fat % than I did then (10-15%), which is why I set my goal there.

Ignore them! Great job on your weight loss!
-
Did 51.4 for the week, totally 121.4 for the month so far.
-
Did 40 miles in week 2, making 70 total for the month so far.

Get a pull-up bar. You can start by aiding yourself with your feet on a chair. Pull-ups and Push-ups are both excellent exercises that use multiple muscles.

The worst waiter I've ever had called me "big chief."

Everyone I see shirtless around here is totally pulling it off. I can't wait to get there! Regarding people not moving over: if they're facing me, I don't say anything and just brace for impact. So far, no one has failed to jump out of my way. If they're moving away from me, I'll give them a heads-up, and they're almost…

If it's not too late, I'd like to be put down for 200 miles this month. I've done 29.9 so far in August.
-
I'm shooting for close to 230 miles this month, which will be my most ever, and which includes 5 of my 7 longest runs ever.

I'm about to head out for a 2000+ calorie run. It should take me about 4 hours, since I'll be going slow. I'll also eat about 1000 calories during.

101 miles of running in July!

This. I ran my first marathon last October. My goal pace was 10:00 per mile, which may have been ambitious. I ran the first half at faster than 9:00 per mile, and then absolutely crashed and burned. Miles 19 and 20 I could only manage around 20:00. The last 5 miles I was able to jog some, but it was still torture and I…

It's something I would like to do, but I'm not going to try until I've run for a few more years. I would have to maintain a pace faster than my 5K PR to qualify right now. With a few more years of fitness gains and an extra 5 minutes when I age up, maybe I could have a chance.
-
This year I ran a 22:43 after failing to break 25 for several years. My next race is less hilly and I'm looking to break 22. My ultimate goal is sub-20 (maybe in a few years).
-
Agreed. I tried that for years and only got a little bit faster. When I slowed down (<70% max heart rate) I was able to run more and have been really pleased with my aerobic fitness gains. Also, I've gotten faster more quickly. This year, I've set PRs at almost every race, but most of my runs are "easy."
-
This. It may seem counter-intuitive, but the best way to increase your speed at this point is to run slowly. That's because the aerobic system is the one you want to develop and the most efficient way to develop it is to run at a "conversational" pace. You don't need to add in quality runs (intervals, etc.) until you've…

33.1 miles so far this month.

That's how I used to run, but I've learned in the last year that it's not the best way to improve. Now, I do most of my runs at a "jog" effort. This allows me to run farther and more often with less risk of injury, which has increased my aerobic fitness exponentially. About one year into this new training method, my "jog"…

The other day, I was out running and someone turned onto the path ahead of me. He looked like he was just jogging along, definitely taking it easy, so I thought, "I'll just catch up to him." Turns out, his jog was significantly faster than my run. Jogging is just a sub-category of running. It's the slow end, and it's…

Please put me down for 100 in June!

Only 4 miles last week and 6 this week, finishing May with 68.3 total (my worst month since I joined RunningAHEAD a year ago).
-
23.1 miles this week, for 58.3 so far in the month.
-
28.2 miles for the second week of May, 35.2 total for the month so far.
-
Looking great! You've done very well!
-
I keep failing to meet my goal, so I have to lower it again. Please put me down for 100 in May. I haven't done that since January. I've run 7 so far.

The way I understand it, the formulas the HRM uses are only fairly accurate inside the heart rate range seen during exercise. If you wore it all day it wouldn't be accurate. All the methods are estimates unless you eat at a constant level for a few weeks and track your gain/loss. Then, you can calculate your TDEE…

6 more miles today, total of 90.3 for April
