If I am eating untiil painfully full it has to be Indian food with copius amounts of beer.

This. A cheat day every so often should be a huge amount of calories and no regret. I find it helps me stay true to myself on the non-cheat days and, to my wife's disgust, amazing amounts of consumption on cheat days.

Everyone's central nervous system reacts differently to training. Now that I'm not 25 years old anymore I know I couldn't withstand that much weight / volume in a week of working out. Try it out, let us know how you're feeling and the results you're getting. If anything, it'll be useful to yourself and others.

630 @ 302 as of last month. Did it with only a weight belt, a deep breath and some Rise Against. The whole reason I'm here is for a better lift / weight ratio. Think I can lean out while only losing so much strength.

Athletic and functional carryover from leg press is minimal. Loading up a leg press makes your ego feel good because everyone loves to hoard 45's. :-) My advice is to find some strong man implements like tractor tires, pulling sleds, cars to push up hill and, to a lesser extent to the legs but amazing as building overall…

No one here has seen anything that merits a rough crowd until you've been to a West Ham v. Millwall match. Ever watch "Green Street Hooligans", the movie? Yeah, that's who the movie is about and it is worse in person. I went in 2009 and it put any U.S. sporting event to shame in terms of lewd and crude acts - and I'm an…

Vomit, nose bleeds, shin bleeds, farts, sharts... had all of them. Worst one was when I was in Delhi with a bad case of Delhi Belly... lets just say I crop dusted that entire gym. I have never fallen off of a treadmill before which is surprising because I am quite clumsy. Any real gym member knows that these things happen.…

As Mack from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia would say, "Cultivating lean muscle mass" is not easy to do. You need actually press hard and keep on it for many, many years. With women it is even harder. A few weeks of weight training isn't going to make your legs gigantic. Like others have said - be patient and persevere.…

Back in 09-10 I was living in London for quite some time for work and joined the Nuffield Health and Fitness Center on Cannon Street because it was close to my office and apartment. The hours were great, the facilities extremely clean and has what a lot of other gyms don't offer - a pool, an on-site doctor, boxing ring,…

There are benefits to both. I have used a bench shirt / squat suit / deadlift suit before and thought it was good for helping to break through mental barriers. My current training is entirely raw except for a weight belt due to my strength goals and how I want my body to progress into unassisted functional strength. Some…

My thoughts exactly. Love seeing women pull big weights! Keep it up and good luck!

The muscular and athletic look on a woman's legs is extremely attractive. Embrace it and make the most of it.

Do you have a tail? (Seriously.. an extra large coccyx couldn't be comfy to put pressure on.)

You are way too young to even think about getting married. Don't do it.

Training fives is good for a base of where your max strength might be. But usually about 1.5 to 2 months out from a competition you'll want to be doing all one rep maxes, forced reps and facilitated reps (I prefer bands) so your body has time to adjust to such heavy weights. You could take your max today doing a 1 rep and…

Having someone working out near you with horrible BO < Having someone with an over-powering perfume.

If you talk to someone about their squat depth they get instantly defensive and butt hurt. For me, there is only one type of squat - the Olympic backsquat. Even if I have to go lighter I refuse to budge on form. The world of power lifting has gotten ridiculous. You have girls claiming they bench 225 only to post a video or…

The best way to get stronger is to keep going to the gym. You'll hit plateaus every once in a while which is usually a sign to mix your program up. I've even started doing some cross fit workouts every once in a while to shock my body. (A Grace workout with 225 on the bar is a real beast to complete) Just stay focused and…

I don't notice other people in the gym because I'm there to workout and leave ASAP. Be polite, be clean, lift heavy and get done are my gym agenda.

It is just another hurdle in the battle. You still control what goes into your mouth and how much you work out. Going on the medication is only a help. My sister is a great inspiration for those of us with hypothyroidism as she lost almost 80 pounds by diet, exercise and proper dosage of Synthroid. With my 175mcg dosage…

Erin Stern = win. "Oh I barely missed the Olympics for the high jump. I'll just find another sport to dominate... like figure competitions. Done & done." Ladies and Gents - she has a lot of good videos on youtube for "How to" that a lot of you might be interested in.

In Singapore the excuse "I didn't want to break a sweat" always applies.

No one has mentioned anything about personalities yet? Oh right... because we don't care about that here.

Large framed <> Big Boned I am generally massive everywhere. 6'2", size 15 feet, 11 inch hands, 38 inch long sleeves. Do I think I could ever be below 200 pounds? It'd be really, really tough. It is all about finding a weight that you're happy and healthy with and to not obsess about "being X pounds will make me happy".

335 in the fall of my senior year of high school. Then I really got into weight lifting, was down around 245 junior year of college, continued training after college, got a desk job, been between 275-300 for the past seven years. I'm going to get down to 260 (hopefully retaining strength) and re-evaluate where I want to go…

Take it slow. I'm doing the same approach (albeit with a bit more padding) and do not want to lose any muscle. The advice to up your protein I've found to be a major plus. So far I've lost 12 pounds and have gotten noticeably stronger over the last 5 weeks. Eat back your workout calories and hit the weights hard. I keep my…

No pain no gain? Just keep at it and the pain with go away. Just warm-up before training again.
