  • Hi! I had similar issues living on campus, not knowing what to eat and I gained a lot of weight because of it. So I wrote some blog posts on MFP about eating healthy on campus/ in the dorm. I'll just post the links so that I don't have to copy and paste, they are pretty long. They might be helpful for you! :) Part 1:…
  • Chia seeds!!! I love them! I don't use them for weight loss but more for just general health. They have so many benefits!!! I put them in my smoothies :)
  • Yeah I don't see much on that list that could be classified as healthy... and the catfish will almost certainly be fried (it's sooooo good though!). I definitely wouldn't let that stop you from eating, just make it a "cheat" day and try some new delicious food!!! Maybe only get stuff that isn't readily available anywhere…
  • Hey, I know how hard it is to eat healthy in college! I DID gain the freshman 15 and now I've lost it all by changing my habits. :) I wrote a series of blog posts on how to survive dorm life that has all of my advice on how to eat well in college including how to survive the cafeteria and what to eat in the dorm, here are…
  • 100% Texan here, born and raised in DFW!!! Wouldn't have it any other way :)
  • I've actually found that buying real unprocessed food is cheaper. Most of my groceries come from the produce, dairy, and meat/seafood departments with a few other staples like almond butter, olive oil, chia seeds, tea, and hummus. The products that are expensive "healthy" foods are sometimes not really that healthy!…
  • Yeah, I usually decide what I'm going to eat a day in advance and log it. It keeps me motivated to stay on track, and if plans change or I decide to eat something different it's simple to switch it. It's very effective for me!
  • I didn't know such a thing existed!!! Personally I wouldn't want to try it...what's the point of wine with no alcohol??
  • They definitely aren't as healthy as they'd like to to believe, but every once in a while they work in a pinch.
  • I live close to Trophy Club! :) I love Central Market too, but apparently Trader Joe's has really unique and yummy organic foods and is much more reasonably priced than other health food chains.
  • Go to the rec center more often Eat nutritious and balanced meals and snacks - no 2nd dinners! Drink less alcohol and eat less fast food Take yoga classes and spin classes Go to bed at a decent hour and wake up early enough to work out and start my day off right!
  • My mom swears by agave nectar but after reading about it, I think I'll stick to honey! Thanks for the informative link.
  • Mmm, I love me some greek yogurt! As far as a brand goes, I would go to your grocery store and pick up one of the little 1 serving containers for each brand and you can decide which one you like the best. Some popular brands are Chobani (this is the one I usually get), Fage, and Oikos. I think it is superior to regular…
  • Spinning is my all time favorite exercise class. I used to do it 3 times a week and it got me into the best shape of my life! The great thing is that there is usually a wide range of fitness levels in the class, from people who are interested in weight loss to seasoned cyclists who are doing some cross training. This is…
  • I didn't mind it too much, and I love the price as well, but you're right that it isn't the thick consistency of other greek yogurts on the market! :( I wonder why...
  • You can make your own granola bars pretty easily!! I'm going to try some soon. There's tons of recipes online and if you make them yourself you know exactly what is going into them (none of the weird chemicals and sugars). Maybe you can convince him ;) If not, I don't think granola bars are the healthiest foods for every…

  • My favorites are whole wheat toast with organic almond butter, oatmeal, eggs, and fruit. A lot of the time I'll do combos! Eggs and toast, oatmeal and fruit, etc.
  • I love Luna Bar's Nutz over Chocolate, but I don't buy them very often because I don't think they are healthy enough to eat on a regular basis. :( I haven't tried too many flavors of the clif bar but I really like the oatmeal one, I think it is? Like I said, I don't want to eat the processed sugary food a lot so I eat them…
  • Water and green tea or earl grey tea! Every once in a while I'll have a diet Lipton Green Tea with Citrus (the one in the bottle that you drink cold) or a coke zero but that's really just a treat. I haven't drank almond milk straight ever but I put it in other stuff like smoothies and shakes. That's pretty much it for me!
  • Instant oatmeal, protein shakes, low-sodium canned soups, organic nut butter on bread or bagels (as long as it is whole wheat). if you have a fridge you can keep fresh veggies, fruit, dips like hummus or salsa, spinach to make salads. :) Edit: Just saw you can't have a refrigerator. Woops! Well, you can still eat the…
