Yea!! I'm not the only one with a spreadsheet like this. Doing the exact same thing here. :drinker:

Go pay a dietician.

Ummm...yes. That is pretty much the main purpose of this site. And, most people on here count calories and track them on a daily basis, or at least try too. Not sure what the "how" question really means...you weigh/measure your food, look it up in the database, add it to your log. More detail on the mechanics can be found…

Great article! Thanks for posting. :drinker: :drinker: :drinker:

Welcome! And, great job getting started! Feel free to add me if you want.

LOL...I thought I was the only person in the world who did this!! I'm always telling my husband what the numbers come out to and he thinks I'm crazy!

Hi! And, welcome. Similar situation here...I'm 5'6'', 205 and looking to lose 55 lbs. I'm also a busy working mom with a daughter who is going to turn two in a week. Feel free to add me, and good luck!! :)

Feel free to add me. I'm a working mom with a two year old. I'm 5'6'' as well. I started at 250 lbs. right after I had my daughter was born and am currently at 207. Looking to lose the remaining 57 lbs. to get to a goal weight of 150. I've been really slacking off the last few months and need some motivation and to get me…

If I want something sweet, then berries, peaches, or pineapple. For something savory, tomato, cucumber and black pepper.

I could have written this myself. The exact same thing happened to me yesterday and today. Completely clean eating for three weeks, 8 lbs lost, and then yesterday I overdid it on stupid girl scout cookies. Tried to get back on track this morning and then I totally binged at a company lunch. Trying really hard to drag…

I just finish "Gone Girl" and had to read "Dark Places" and "Sharp Objects" by Gillian Flynn. All three were great!

I would explain it to her in terms of the health value of the food. Explain that fruit (in your example) is a healthier choice than the cereal. Explain that it's ok to have "some" of the less healthy option but ask her to combine that with a healthy choice. I wouldn't go into serving sizes, calories, etc. with a child or…

^^This is so me!! I personally weigh every day. I put my weight along with my calories in/out for the day in a spreadsheet. (OK...I am a nerd and a little OCD). Then, my daily weight just becomes data. I can use this data to look for trends (upwards or downwards) and know if my weight change over a month corresponds with a…

I'm a mom too. And, can't use a baby weight as an excuse anymore since my baby is almost 2 now. Feel free to add me if you want. And, good luck!!

Thanks for sharing! I had never heard of that site and it is awesome!! It's now bookmarked though.

Great attitude!!

Agree!! I am just trying to recognize that that is a weakness I have. And, taking baby steps to work on it.

Definitely don't want to lie. They are friends. And, honestly, people can just look at me and know I need to lose weight, so why hide it? I do like the ideas of offering to cook some. I could definitely do that!!

Oh, I log mine! I think it's important to be honest with myself even if I am bad. And, logging the bad somehow makes me more honest with myself. I feel your pain though..

I would give my right arm to sleep in on the weekends!! So, jealous! Seriously though....thanks for the advice.
-
Very good point. If I do bring my own stuff, I'll make sure to let them know beforehand. Thanks.

I feel like that kind of attitude is what got me over 200 lbs. in the first place. I tend to find that if I allow myself to let down my food guard down, then all of a sudden 4 days turns into 5 days turns into a month of not eating well. Maybe this is just something I need to tackle, but I am currently afraid to let my…

Glad to know it's not just me. I actually did really well last weekend just planning out my food, taking my own snacks to a football party, picking restaurants with low calorie options, etc. Another weekend hurdle to tackle coming up soon though!!

This is really helpful. I should start taking planned snacks with me.

I am on week 3 of Jamie Eason's LiveFit Trainer. Her workouts are great (meaning I feel the burn and am sore the next day, which I am taking as good signs)...and she varies them every few week so you get some variety. You can get the plan for free here: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/jamie-eason-livefit-trainer.html Also,…

Most chain-type restuarants will have their nutritional information on their websites. But there is an app for that. :) I use HealthyOut Healthy Meal Finder. Or try this website...http://www.healthydiningfinder.com/

^^THIS!! Exactly what I was going to say!

Make food ahead so that you are prepped for those extra busy days. Either, make extra portions one night and eat the extra on your shopping night or have a food prep day once a week and prepare some quick, healthy, reheatable meals to eat throughout the week when you get pressed for time. If you know that you have…

Sleep!! The only way I can get a workout in most days is to get up and get er' did before work. Which usually means a 4:30am wake-up. Oh, and TV. I go to bed early to get up at said time and miss a lot of shows. This isn't really a sacrifice though. Turns out you can pretty much live without TV...a lesson I have learned…
