I totally blew it too, everything I've been trying to avoid eating and drinking sneakily worked its way onto my plate and into my glass (with a little encouragement from me). But, I feel better knowing that I'm not the only one, and that I've managed to get back on track straight away today!

Good luck with the weight loss! I hope you fidn this site as useful and supportive as I do!

I know you can get Bud Light in bottles in the UK, you can also get low cal versions of Magners and Bulmers (if you drink cider). I stick with vodka and slim tonic if I'm out drinking, it's when I get to the end of the night and everyone else wants to go for a curry that my will power is truly tested!

I think so, I've done it with sliced chicken breasts, and also with minced turkey. I'm from the UK, I think in the US 'minced meat' is referred to as ground (e.g ground beef)? I might be wrong though.....!! You cna also use whole chiken thighs- this has higher calories, but I think is nicer!

tuna mayo red onion red pepper lettuce oh and sometimes a bit of chilli powder to the tuna mix for a bit YUM!

I've heard that the most accurate reading is from a Heart Rate Monitor, you set it up according to your weight, sex and age too so it is more personalised. I've just ordered mine off the internet, hope I've not wasted my money!

For me its more about getting away from cooking the same meals over and over that my mum (sorry I'm from the UK!!!) cooked for my family when we were younger. We ate reasonably healthily, and up until recently I've been cooking the same 'healthy' meals that my mum makes, only problem is there were about 4 recipes! Gets a…

Hello, Is it ok if I join this group? My weakness is laziness too, I tend to be all or nothing with eating healthily/ exercise. One week I'm really into it, then the next I am quite lazy. Its hard work staying motivated! Arrggghhh! :blushing:
-
I would also recommend that you find out how many calories are in the things you are eating- or at least have an idea of higher/lower calorie foods (even the healthier ones). Once you get into an exercise routine, I would also recommend a heart rate monitor. Once you can see how many calories are in each food and then how…

Thanks for sharing these pearls of wisdom!

I've wanted to write my own success on here since I joined in January. I fell off the wagon in January, and decided to give this MFP thing another go, and in my first week back I lost 4lbs! Hopefully I'll be able to stick with it the second time around!

. That way YOU maintain control of your diet instead of letting your food and wants control you! [/quote] Great advice!

I read somewhere that the 'best' things to order from Indian and Chinese takeaways are tomato based sauces, vegetarian, king prawns and if you like it, the hotter the better, as chilli may boost your metabolism. But I say, order what you'll enjoy , don't feel guilty about it afterwards, and get back on the wagon the next…

Hi all! Was wondering if its too late to join this group?!
-
Hi! I've re-started on here (fell off the wagon in January) its a really good tool for making you realise what you are really eating! Good luck with it!
-
This is the most useful thing I have ever read on the discussion boards! I was getting really confused with the calorie calculations on here (and only eating about 600-700 calories a day- oops!) Thanks for this- very helpful!
-
I'm also on 1200, and I try not to eat the extra calories I get from exercise too! Its hard work!
-
I feel exactly the same, I started MFP in January and was really good for about a month, I've fallen off the wagon twice and now I've gained 5lbs since I started and I'm really annoyed with myself. I've just gotten very comfortable in a new relationship which is actually demotivating me as my boyfriend is very sweet and…

Does anybody know which fruits have the least sugar content? Seems that all my favourities are the ones full of fruit sugars... I always manage to come in on target for calories, under for fat but I blow it on sugar everyday, so I'm trying to cut back on this. Thanks

Sounds great, I'd like to join please!

Hi Jayne, I'm also from the UK, been using the site for a couple of weeks now and I've found it very heldful so far. Feel free to message me for some homegrown support!

I wake up about 630 work out from 715-830 and eat breakfast when I get to work at 9am.. This works for me, but I don't know if its the best thing to do.....
-
Wow! not the best wake up call!! Think I'd be hiding with the cat too, we fortunately don't get earthquakes where I live (in the north of England!!)

Hello, I'm new to the site too, so far it's been useful in simply keeping an eye on what I'm eating and what exercise I'm doing. I'm hoping to lose 1.5lbs a week until I reach my goal weight at the end of the year. Good luck, I hope it goes well for you

Hey, sounds like you're really focused on what you want to achieve. I know what you mean, I'm 25 now, and when I started University here in the UK at 18, I was a reasonably active and healthy person, but the late nights, take-aways and drinking sessions left me feeling really unhealthy and a lot bigger than when I left…

Thanks for that!! There is one power plate machine at my gym but they don't do classes, its DIY job and its hard to know if you're doing the right thing with only pictures on a wall for guidance! How long do you use the machines for in classes?
-
Does anyone use power plates, and how worthwhile do you think they are? x
-
 hey everyone, the pre-programmed workouts on the machines in my gym are great, I also find that its easier to workout for longer if you spend a third of the time in reverse mode x
