It probably took me a good 9 months to really love running. I loved the way it was changing my body and how I felt after a run, so I stuck with it. While I do use a gps watch, I don't really look at it while I run. I use it to track how far I have gone and about how many calories I have burned. Just continuing to run…

Feel free to add me.

I thought about doing the Bridge to 10k program when I finished the C25K program myself. I didn't want to go back to walk/run intervals so I just increased my miles on one of my runs a week. Started off by adding 5 minutes to my running and worked up to adding in a full mile. My 5k time hugely improved after running more…

My knees actually got better with running. I second the good shoes and C25K. That's how I got started. Good luck!!

Just wanted to say "Good Luck"!! I am also my own worst enemy when it comes to running sometimes! I was also debating making the jump to a marathon, so I decided to leave it up to fate and signed up for the Marine Corps Marathon lottery. I got in - so I will begin training for it pretty soon. It is a time commitment that I…

After I started running I kind of had the same feeling. I reminded myself why I started running and how I felt after I ran. Some days I really had to force myself out but after I ran, I felt great and I loved the way my body was changing. Now, I have to make sure I take a rest day. If you decide that you actually don't…

I did C25K to get into running. I would probably do run/walk intervals and then every week make your run intervals longer and the walk intervals shorter.

I am a distance runner I guess. My favorite distance is a 15K even though I have done some half marathons and will be doing my first(and possibly only) full marathon this fall.

Great job on doing week 2. If I had a rough day 3 on any week, I would try day 1 of the next week. If it felt fine, I kept doing, if it didn't, then I went back and redid the week.

I would get what ever you will enjoy most and stick with. I wouldn't worry about which one burns more calories... just do what you enjoy more!

I agree with everyone else! Plenty of time to train. Lots of training plans out there to choose from. I used marathonrookie's plan and tweaked it to make it my own. Have heard great things about higdon and galloway's plans as well. Good luck!!

Feel free to add me - I am running a half in May and maybe another one in the fall. I also do numerous 10k, 15k and 20k races.

I try and run 4 days a week. I do 2 days on the weekend when my schedule is a little more open. The 2 days that I do during the week are in the evening. I already get up at 4:30 and my husband leaves by 5 or 5:30 which means no morning run. I do workout in the evenings - as late as 7 or 7:30. My cooperating teacher would…

I agree with most everyone who has posted. I started on the treadmill before running outside. It takes time to build up endurance to run faster. I started out running a 9:30-10 min mile depending on how far I was running. Since then I have worked my way to running a 8:30-9 min mile most of the time. I am actually working…

My first 5k was right around 31 minutes. A good first time goal is just to finish it - or finish without walking any of it. I have beat myself several times since then. I only race myself!

I am training for a half in May. Feel free to add me as a friend.

When I train for a half marathon I don't have any apps that I use. Some people really like Hal Higdon plans, and garmin also has training plans. I have used marathonrookie.com training plan. I usually end of looking at a few plans and kind of come up with my own that works for me. Good Luck!!

Running for her(and other runners who have also been killed while out on a run) this afternoon - 4 miles!

I would suggest C25Kor some kind of program like that. I used it and went from being a non runner to running half marathons. If you don't want to buy an app, you could even look it up and keep track of your own intervals with a simple stopwatch. I don't run on a treadmill anymore. I didn't like it and I prefer to run…

Just sent you a request.

Wow! Good luck! My neighbor died of a heart attack when he was 33. He had let himself go and wouldn't seek treatment for anything that was going wrong with his body. Good for you for realizing you need to change before it's too late!!

I need to take my vitamins after I eat. Women's one a day didn't bother me but centrum's women's one a day did. Good to know I am not the only one that has had some problems!

I did 658 miles this year. My goal was 600,so I was pretty excited. I had run 452 the year before. My new goal is 780. I might readjust it higher later.

When I would have a hard time with the last day of a week, I would still try day 1 of the next week. If I did fine with it, I moved on. Find out what works for you! Week 5 is hard and I too am a mental runner. If you decide to move outside when the weather is nicer, you might have to backtrack. I backtracked to week 5 I…

arc918 and CarsonRuns also know what they are talking about. My 5k times didn't improve much until I started training for a15k. Run more miles and your time will come down.
-
You are probably fine. You do need to run outside before the 5k. Running outside and on a treadmill are 2 different things and I had a hard time transitioning.
-
I will.. don't know which days yet but I plan on getting in some runs.

I agree with amyrebeccah... I usually do 2 layers for 30-40 degrees and 3 layers or 2 layers one being a cold gear layer for <30 degrees. For 30-40 degrees I wear one layer of pants. <30 degrees I have running tights that I put under my pants. Good luck!!

I teach high school math. While I am on my feet a lot - walking around my classroom and around the building - I think that the lightly active is okay for me. One of these days I will get a pedometer and see exactly how active I am. Play with your settings and see what works for you!

I agree with the others. I started c25k during the winter when I hadn't really been excersing much and did just fine. I had done my walks - but even those weren't really consistent. Some weeks are harder than others - if you have to you could always repeat a week before moving on. You can do it - you just need to convince…
