I did c25k which was 3 times a week. Hal Higdon's site is good. You could also check out c25k.com and cool runnings has a program too. I just downloaded an app and used that.

I finished c25k about 18 months ago and tomorrow I am running my first half marathon. It worked well for me!!

Have you had your feet checked out at a running store and been fitted? My toe joints hurt once I hit 4.5 miles or so and it was because my shoes were too small. Typically you should get running shoes that are half a size bigger than you normally wear and I need a whole size bigger. My pain was similar to yours. I haven't…

Worked for me! Did it almost 2 years ago and am still running - training for a half marathon.

I keep track of how fast I run one and the time I run it... so usually my 5k's are done in 27 minutes, so I log it as 9 min/mile run for 27 minutes. I hope that makes sense!

Congratulations!! That is awesome! The great feeling you get when reaching a goal( or a step towards the goal) never goes away!! I remember when I was excited about running for 5 minutes without stopping!
-
I also disagree with your theory... the first mile or so is the hardest for me. I ran 12 yesterday and while the last mile was hard(yesterday was the first time I had run 12 miles) it felt great!!
-
You are doing great... what really helped my 5k times was adding distance to one of my runs a week. Once I was up to 8-9 miles, my 5k time improved a lot.
-
Good luck and have fun!! I am doing my first half in a few weeks!

8/14: 3 miles 8/18: 4 miles 8/19: 8 miles Total for the month: 31 Double check my miles for the month please - I think you have me running way too many miles ... Not that I mind that though  Hopefully I can keep on track with school starting back this week! August has been a rough month... I seem to be getting back…

Sent a friend request... I have been running for 18 months... ran my first 15k over the summer and will be doing a half marathon this fall.

Feel free to add me... I am about 5 weeks into a half marathon training program. Mine is October 13.

I am training for my first half in October - Freedom's Run - Shepherdstown, WV

I have been running for 18 months now... - compression socks - no, but I am very curious about them. I haven't tried them because what I am currently doing is working for me :-) - official races - about 5 5k's, 1 10 k (did the 5k and 10k on the same day), 15k and am training for a Half Marathon... - 10:30 mile for an…

I am also a 5'2" woman and I was closest to an Indonesian male weightlifter!

Thanks! It's all good!!

I think you missed me on the spreadsheet... Just checking.

Back in for August! Between power outages at the end of June/beginning of July and traveling, I missed it last month. Put me down for 70 miles. I didn't quite hit it in June, but came close.

Go to a running store and get checked. I had found out I was buying shoes a half size too small. I need to buy a whole size bigger for running instead of half a size. My shoes cost $110. I bought them at the store that fitted me.

I also teach and this is what I do... it works well for me.

I use this: http://www.camelbak.com/Sports-Recreation/Packs/2012-FlashFlo-LR.aspx for my training runs. It doesn't jostle around much if I am wearing correctly. My longest run so far has been 10 miles and this seems to work well. I use the course hydration for races.

It came about 9 months after I started running... before that usually about a mile into my run I would feel better like I could run forever. But the truly wanting to go out and run was about 9 months after I started...what kept me going was how my body was feeling/looking after running.

I just started adding in 5-10 minutes extra to some runs to build myself up. For me that was just one more lap around my neighborhood. I have myself up to running 10 miles on my long runs. Congrats on finishing!

LOL - I didn't think about ice down the bra! Right now I am planning on running it next year.... it's still a long way away, but I think I can swing it. I have family in the area which helps with my kiddos. My mom may run the 5k next year and maybe my brother can join me on the 15k next year. My children ran the kids race…

I am with you! I started running 18 months ago with C25K and just ran the Boilermaker in upstate NY (15K). It's just one of those things that I never thought I would be able to do and I can! I will be running a half marathon in October... Great job!!

6/26: 4 miles 6/27: 3 miles Total for the month : 58. So close yet so far...
