Don't run in Vibrams Five Fingers  I love mine, but my calves will never be small (about 15.5" regardless of my weight). On the other hand, my calves are strong and it's hard to see a big down-side to that.

Congratulations! 77 lbs is great!

This blog is great! Also, it really does mirror my experience with runners. Runners are very supportive. I am not fast. I am not skinny. I will never win a race. That being said, even when I was dying through my first few 5K races, there were faster runners who came back along the course and cheered everyone else on. You…

I've been taking a shred brake every 4 days (doing other exercises), so I just finished Day 9. Feeling good and awfully glad I've got this group as I am sure I would have quit otherwise! I do still find the side lounges and bicycle crunches hard.

I am so sorry for your loss. She sounds like a wonderful mare and I am sure she loved her time with you. I lost my horse of 28 years in the spring of 2012 and I still cry when I think about him. Just remember that you surely did the right thing for her. From my point of view a life of pain isn't how a horse should live and…

Congratulations on meeting the Challenge goal! Great job!

Yeah, another member who reached the 20 lb. goal! Great job. You are in inspiration to us all :-)

Great job! I'm at Day 8 (Level 1)

Great job! Congratulations on being one of the first to have lost 20 lbs!

Christmas Challenge start weight: 183.5 Current weight: 172.6 Lost this week: .6 lbs. Challenge total: 10.9 lbs. Not a big loss, but I'll take it. Also, at went out for dinner last night and went way over on my sodium, so I think I've got some extra water weight I am carrying around today.

Just finished Day 7. I understand the thought re: going longer than 10 days. I am stronger, but a few of the moves still kill me. That being said, I am not sure Level 2 is that much harder, just seems different, so I plan to move on after the 10 days.

Just keep at it. When I started I was slow and was completely winded after about 1/2 mile. Two years later I could run 12 miles with hills. I was never fast, but I was strong and felt great. I stopped running for about a year (I really can't recall why other than that I was busy and forgot to make it a priority). Working…

I'm in New Hampshire and know the feeling! I always want to eat a ton in the fall -- my theory being that my body wants to put on an extra layer of fat like seals and some other animals do! I try to just keep getting up and exercising. Hard to do, but I feel much better once I have.

Just finished day 6. Pars are still really hard (side lounges and the final bicycle crunches), but I do think I am getting stronger.

I wasn't thrilled to post my gain the week I went up two pounds, but it seems to me it is part of the purpose of the group to help me hold myself accountable to wherever I am on a given week. I think we are down by about 65%. Hoping the remaining stay in :-) I am still hopeful on making my 20 lbs. and some of the members…

Just finished Day 5. Side lunges still suck, but I made it a bit further before having to drop down to the lighter weights. I am convinced I will never do a lovely pushup, but I struggle through on my knees.

After 4 days in a row, I took a day off from the shred. Thought I needed to let my upper body recover. Ran on the treadmill instead. Back to the shred tomorrow.
-
Suffered through, but made it. My upper body and abs are sore!
-
I got my third day in. Really active day (jogged 4 miles, walked a fair amount, and rode my horse for a short while), and I am paying for it all now. My calves may never be the same :-) That being said, I am happy to say I have done three days in a row and have every intention of keeping this up.
-
I just did day 3 immediately after completing a 4 mile slow run. Perhaps not the best plan. I find the side lunges in circuit 3 particularly hard -- used 2 lb. weights today, but still a struggle. My main problem is I have no strength in my mu upper body or abs -- these parts of my body are really sore today!
-
Oops, sorry about the double post (is there a way to go back and delete or amend a post one has done?). Anyway, I am so glad to hear I am not the only one having issues with the side lunges. I've been doing with 5 lb. weights, but can't do the full minute without some mini-breaks!

Christmas Challenge start weight: 183.5 Current weight: 173.2 Lost this week: .8 lbs Challenge total: 10.3 lbs. Not a big loss, but I'll take any measurable loss. Crossed the half-way mark for the Christmas Challenge!

Thanks for starting this group! I've been looking for some motivation. Didn't run this morning and figured I just wouldn't exercise today. Saw this group, joined, went down stairs and just completed day 1. I had started these workouts last spring, but never finished. With this group I am hoping to maintain my motivation!

I got an OTTB last fall. She's 16.2 and I am dreading that first fall which I know is inevitable! I know the "coiled spring" feeling well, and am always relieved when it has passed. It's been a long time since I have fallen off a horse, but only because my old guy (a little 14.2 Arab) was very docile and I was very used to…

This! Simply breaking up because he doesn't want to get married or have more kids is one thing before having a child together, but once you have a child you need to look at the bigger picture. I am not saying to stay in a bad relationship for kids, or that divorces shouldn't happen (in fact, I am divorced), but I don't see…

In my experience exercise will actually help with your energy levels. I run ( outside when it is light, on the treadmill currently) at 5:30 each morning. Sucks for the first few days, then I feel more energetic and my body gets used to the wake up time.

I met my now husband on-line. eHarmony initially suggested me to him when I got a free profile, but was actually connected through Match as I didn't want to pay the eHarmony rate. I have several friends that have met current spouses, fiances, etc. on-line. What I liked was that I knew up front what we had a common, etc.…

Hi All. I've been riding since I was in 2nd grade. Got my first horse at 10. When I was 14 I got a 2 year old Arab who I trained myself and had until his death in 2012 (I had to put him down just before his 30th birthday). Miss him always. Then, last year I got a 7 year old OTTB straight off the track. She's 2 hands taller…

Christmas Challenge start weight: 183.5 Current weight: 174 Lost this week: 3.6 Challenge total: 9.5 I was up 2 lbs last week, but thought likely water weight as I had just started a new exercise program. Happy to have lost that plus another 1.6 lbs. Down 16 lbs. total since I came back to mfp in September. Almost half way…
