  • Most of my coworkers decided against the run today, so there were only 3 of us. We ran a local hill in preparation for the race on May 5th. Both of the guys have been running a while and are quite a bit faster than I am, but I was able to keep up with them for the first half mile (they ran slow ;)). Then there was the…
  • @7lenny7 Actually, no. I used Expedia. I just checked on Costco and their prices are double my new reservation! Ack!
  • @7lenny7 Off topic but THANK YOU for mentioning your flight and car rental costs. It reminded me to check for lower rates for our reservation this summer. I was able to save over $250 on the minivan!
  • NICE!! Congratulations! @7lenny7 I'm excited for your race and trip. I'll be over in the Seattle area this weekend but will be looking forward to hearing about it! My right hamstring was still upset at me this morning, but when walking the dogs, I ran a few 1-2 block intervals anyway. I realized I miss doing intervals. I…
  • I picked up some new running shorts at lunch today. I tried on at least 6 different styles, two sizes of a few, and ended up with a single pair of C9 Champion with a 7" inseam and pockets big enough to hold my phone. My winter running tights (only tights I own) have a similar pocket and I've used it quite a few times over…
  • Welcome home, @eleanorhawkins and @shanaber! @midwesterner85 Wow! The river is high this year. I'll be running Bloomsday in a couple weeks and hope I remember to get some pictures of the falls. I'm so sore this morning! My arms and back from raking the yard, and my legs from 'squats' picking up pine cones, and my run. I'm…
  • That is the Spokane River in Washington. The Centennial Trail is the paved trail we're on, over 60 miles in length total between Nine Mile Falls and Coeur d'Alene Idaho. I haven't run here often in the past, but will spend more time here in the future. No traffic and great views!
  • I walked 2.5 miles yesterday and just over 1.1 this morning. Then, after some yard work, my husband and I ran 6.5 miles today. Beautiful morning by the river!
  • This! So much! This! Loved following your race and your race report!
  • Happy Birthday @kgirlhart! What a great start to the day, year and decade!! April goal: 36 miles Stretch goal: 50 miles 4/2 - 3.32 4/4 - 2.54 4/7 - 6.29 Hauser Lake Icebreaker 10k (official time 1:15:15) 4/9 - 3.05 4/11 - 2.01 4/14 - 4.01 4/16 - 3.97 4/18 - 2.34 Total: 27.53 miles My schedule called for 2.5 miles this…
  • It was a cold morning here, just above freezing when I left the house around 5am. My plan called for 4 miles, but after about one and a half I considered cutting it short. The dogs were all over the place, my left hip was irritated and it just felt hard. Over the next mile, I realized my hands free belt has a buckle that…
  • Congratulations @lporter229! It was so fun to track your race and cheer you on from Washington!
  • Ouch! I'm glad you weren't terribly hurt by that. My 8 year old son was pulled across the street by our lab mix many years ago and got a good case of road rash. Kira is less than half their size at about 40 pounds and luckily I noticed the rabbit and was prepared for her pull. Plus, the leash I use when hands-free is a…
  • @rheddmobile Thought about you this morning. Hope you heal quickly. Did a slight bit of strength training last night. Haven't been consistent with that at all. Something to work on. Took the dogs for a half hour walk this morning. Technically a rest day. TGIF!
  • So much fun and excitement this morning! I ran two miles with the dogs, and tried not to faceplant when Kira (my 3 year old squirrel chaser) went after the rabbits. I'm really glad I used my hands-free leash today! I ran in my Altra Escalantes for the first time, and ran a fast pace for me - my fastest 1k and 2…
  • Today is a cross training day for me. I took the dogs out for a mile walk this morning. Didn't have time for more, as I got caught up in a DnD discussion with my son. The dogs don't seem to care how long the walks are, so long as we go out (though anything less than 15 minutes usually results in one of *those* looks from…
  • Thank you for the congratulations on my race. I was absolutely thrashed yesterday; didn't sleep well on Sunday night (up for a couple hours at midnight!) and was ready for a nap when I got home from work. My husband said dinner would be ready in about an hour so I stayed up... then it was another hour... it was finally…
  • Yesterday was my first official 10k race. There were just over 450 people out on a rainy Sunday morning to support a local charity, 150 of them running a 5k which started at the same time. The 10k course was around the lake, the 5k course followed the same road out and then turned around. It was fun to see some of the…
  • Yes indeed! What he said!! @shanaber and @martaindale - Thank you for your supportive comments. I ran just over 2.5 miles this morning with the dogs. Nice and easy, nevermind the 3 cats and the bunny that made things interesting. :joy: I'm getting better at keeping my heart rate out of zone 4, and might even be getting a…
  • Welcome back @debrakgoogins! I was just thinking about you the other day. Sorry to hear about your struggles during March, but you've got the right attitude! Onward!
  • Happy birthday @Elise4270! I'm on the board for the month with just over 3.3 miles. My husband ran with me again. I was struggling a bit at first, for various reasons, and stopped to stretch after about half a mile. After a while he said something about it being "so slow!" ... not complaining or meaning anything bad about…
  • I'm in for 36 miles this month, with a stretch goal of 50. Question #1: I've followed a variety of diets in the past, using the definition of "a special course of food to which one restricts oneself, either to lose weight or for medical reasons". Never did keto though. I couldn't give up carbs like that. I tried. My…
  • Yesterday was our wedding anniversary, so my husband did yard work and I walked the dogs. Then we went out for dinner to our favorite Italian restaurant. :yum: Today he joined me for my run. He's been running on the treadmill all winter, so this was his first run outside. His pace is usually faster than mine; after a mile,…
  • @amirahdaboss Whoa! I audibly remarked when I saw your pictures; that looks awful! I hope your back isn't seriously injured!
  • @7lenny7 GOOD FOR YOU! Most especially because YOU were being aware, but also because you made that driver think twice. SHE gets a next time because YOU were paying attention. I don't think that makes you an *kitten* at all. It makes you smart. And hopefully it will make her smarter.
  • @HonuNui & @mbaker566 I'm sorry. Saying that never seems like enough... but it is all I can do. @polskagirl01 Cool crop circle art! Yesterday was a cross training day for me = 42 minutes/2.3 mile walk with the dogs in the morning, then 20+ minutes on the bike after work. This morning I woke to a light rain which let up…
  • @MobyCarp Drat! I cannot begin to fathom how much that sucks... so sorry!
  • @Lazy_Bones_85 Just like with us, sometimes using Google helps... though often it just causes us more stress. I have been down that rabbit hole for canine and feline diseases, and have found both comfort and sleepless nights as a result. Being able to talk about it with others who understand can be a real boon. Hopefully…
  • Three miles on the treadmill (more than that per Garmin), followed by myrtl, bridges, stretching and a bit of foam rolling. Eccentric heel drops daily, though less sets today than in previous days. I'm not going to make my goal of 30 miles for this month, but I won't be too far off.
  • @workaholic_nurse Thinking of you. @Lazy_Bones_85 ((hugs)) How's the other cat? Not much to report for me today. I walked a couple miles at lunchtime, just to de-stress. We had a 10% layoff on Friday/today which is always tough. I am sorry for those who lost their jobs, yet am grateful that I remain employed.
