  • I forgot to update my ticker with my last run on Monday. Tuesday was a scheduled rest day, yesterday and today additional days to allow my back to heal. Feeling better this morning but still not 100%. I might take the dogs for a short walk before work as a test. As it feels now, might be another couple days before I run…
  • Third attempt at posting from the app. For some reason I keep pressing Done instead of Post Reply. Not sure why that doesn't work. Lol Congrats to all for their weekend accomplishments! I had an active rest day Saturday, walking for almost 4 miles with my dogs. Sunday was another rest day but no walk. This morning we ran…
  • You ran for an HOUR, with a nice steady HR. DUDE. YOU ARE AWESOME!
  • @ddmom0811 Congratulations! @debrakgoogins Glad you're feeling better and able to get out for a run. Your plan sounds wise. I just finished W6 of C25K this morning. It was COLD out there (23F/-5C) but practically no wind so not bad. I need to remember to use chapstick, and maybe start wearing my buff across my cheeks.…
  • Rest day today, walked the dogs for just under 2 miles. November Goals: 28 miles 11/2: 2.15 11/4: 2.47 11/6: 2.59 I made a ticker!
  • C25K W6D2 done. No more intervals, unless I want to (or the dogs make me lol).
  • Found this: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10570889/new-community-reaction-woo#latest "In our community Woo means that you think an idea or approach is too good to be true." .. not that everyone knows that or uses it that way. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  • I asked cause I have two of those on a recent post and wasn't quite sure what to make of it. That's a bummer.
  • Dumb question, but what's the "Woo" reaction mean? Is it a "woo hoo" or is it a "woo - that's crazy" or something else entirely?
  • WOO HOO! Happy running anniversary, and healthy BMI anniversary! That is SO COOL!! Thank you for sharing your running history. I have been reviewing and modifying my schedule for when I finish C25K, considering an earlier half than I'd mentioned previously (there's a local one on May 19th). At this point, I'm planning to…
  • @katharmonic Happy Birthday! @Orphia congratulations on the great race! @debrakgoogins Oh no! Hope you get through that without too much pain, and recover quickly. @rheddmobile Way to go on the PR for the Half! I loved reading about all the teenagers there to support you. I am curious when you started running and what your…
  • Today was C25K W5D3, the first non-interval 20 minute run. I didn't quite run for 20 minutes straight, though. Running into 15 mph wind, rain, uphill ... nope! We walked up instead. But we ran again afterward, and then an extra minute or two into the cooldown period, so I'm going to count it complete. Thank you for your…
  • @midwesterner85, @sarahthes, thank you. That's a good point. It will depend on how my body reacts to the added stress, and whatever else "life" throws my way in the meantime. I'll keep flexibility in mind. Thanks. Yeah, consistency has been my struggle in the past. Checking in here has been helpful with that, so far.…
  • Since you're a self-professed bunch of enablers, I'm not sure you're the right group to ask. But I'd love to know your thoughts on how realistic (or not) my current plan might be? Bit of history... I didn't run until 2010 when I finished C25K, then built up to a max of 15-20 mpw. I apparently run for 6 months or so? Then…
  • Woke up to rain and debated delaying my run until tomorrow, when the forecast calls for cloudy skies. The pups don't like going out in the backyard when it's raining but looked dejected enough that we headed out at 5:30am. All 3 of us were totally soaked by the time we came back, and I'm pretty sure Jackson was not…
  • @marisap2010 sorry to hear about the accident, and hope you and your pup both are feeling better soon!
  • Following along, as best I can with this chatty bunch! No mileage goal for me yet, but I plan to finish C25K and run a 5k by the end of this month.
  • Completed C25K W5D1 this morning. As I have the day off, I waited until it was almost light out before we left. We also went a different route because I a) was concerned traffic would be higher on our usual 'busy' roads and b) thought we might need a little longer route. Both were true. I missed the first cue to run so…
  • Yeah! Congratulations! Woo hoo!! That's really amazing. Cheers to all who raced this weekend.
  • @amymoreorless - OMG the "I Love You" Barney song! What memories..... the good ol' days...... lol
  • The dogs and I did a very rainy W4D3 this morning. Faster pace than ever and it felt great. They didn't seem to enjoy the rain much, and made me laugh a few times as they avoided puddles and looked at me pathetically. By the end, I was splashing through the puddles since my feet were already soaked. It was magnificent!
  • I got down to 125 just before my 40th birthday, so my driver's license was honest! I was very happy with the fat loss but didn't have much muscle, so I started lifting for a while. I've been between 137 and 147 for the past year or so and would like to get down below 135. With the muscle I gained, I don't think I'd want to…
  • Rest day for me, with short walk for the dogs this morning. I really need to foam roll and stretch more. My IT band, knee and hamstring didn't feel so good near the end of that walk, almost like my knee was ... I don't know. Unstable? I've had IT band issues in the past. I had biometric testing for insurance today, so had…
  • @MegaMooseEsq So sorry for your loss. Bowie was adorable. We made the same decision, for the same reason almost two years ago. Our remaining dog was rather lost for a while... extra walks and attention helped but he was affected, too. How's your other dog doing without him now? Picture of my little Visuddha under the cut:…
  • C25K W4D2 done. That first mile is really hard, but the second is a lot easier. I think I could run longer/farther but am sticking to the plan. My left calf especially is sore and tight.
  • This is a great suggestion! I have followed various "diets" and advice over the years, from high fat to low fat, high carb to low carb, blah blah blah. When I decided to make changes, like you have, I wanted to do it all right and didn't have any idea how. And I lost weight following each of these diets and plans.…
  • Thank you, @MegaMooseEsq. You're right. I need to keep a better attitude, too. I'm stupidly excited about a couple new purchases. First, I picked up my very first pair of tights/leggings - North Face Warm Winter ones, or something like that. Wore them walking on Sunday in approx-freezing temps but was a bit too…
  • Completed W4D1 with the dogs this morning. Seemed a lot darker this morning than usual. Oooh I bet it was a little morning fog on my glasses. I usually have contacts in but didn't take the time before heading out. I really need to eat better on the weekends. Actually, now that I think about it, I just need to eat better,…
  • W3D3 done. My left calf is tight and was feeling some pain in my shin near the end of my final run interval. I'm ready for a couple rest days.
