I ran 2.3 miles this morning for Global Running Day. I shouldn't have. My knee hurts now. :(

Page 8 and I'm finally on the board for this month! I've been following along but not posting because I haven't yet decided what to do as far as a goal for June. My knee's better so I was able to get out and run today after 6 days off. During that time, I foam rolled, stretched, did some mobility/strength exercises and got…

@Avidkeo First you casually comment that you have to sell your staff, and now time travel? What's next?

I can speculate for one of them. She was a kid, maybe 8 or 9 years old, running with her mom. Mom was ahead of her a little ways and she rang the bell to get her attention so they could slow down/walk. I didn't mind that so much and thought it was actually a pretty good idea. The 40+ year old man running alone with one? I…

My husband has turned me into a bit of a beer snob so ... @Eddie_Ice what kind of beer do you have on tap today? When I ran my 10k, there was a woman playing music on her phone. I do not run with music. But it just happened to be music I liked... mostly. I was a little disappointed she was doing a run-walk thing…

Oh @KatieJane83, how horrible. My thoughts go out to all those affected by his loss. I was able to take the dogs out this morning to start my "official" training plan for the Half. First run of 3 miles is done! It went really quite well, even with distractions (two cats, another loose dog (oy)... and the squirrel who…
-
@kgirlhart and @shanaber - thank you both for your comments. Our dogs are great, but sometimes they can be a trial. And you're right, @shanaber... it was a probably best that she got free. I need to work on my own reactivity, not to mention theirs. ;)
-
Took the dogs for a 1.28 mile run. I was considering 1.5 miles but a neighborhood cat made that tough. Heh. Dogs make life interesting!
-
Congratulations @shanaber and @noblsheep! No running for me this weekend. We spent Saturday with the kids and their SO's. I squatted deep and fast at one point and my knee was not happy about it. Lots of ice that night and yesterday, and it feels much better this morning. While walking the dogs yesterday morning, an…

Ditto on all of this!

I had underestimated my need for recovery after Sunday's race, thinking I'd be ready for a recovery run on Tuesday. Hahahahahahaha. That was postponed until yesterday, kept really easy, and felt great. Today was really good too. I'm going to start training for the HM next week using Hal Higdon's Novice 1 plan. This gives…

@amymoreorless - A-MA-ZING and well done!! Wowzers.
-
Yeah, it didn't hurt again. I probably just stepped wrong or hit the ground harder than usual. I had surgery on that foot years ago which I didn't recover from well so... it's weird and always giving me issues. Thanks for asking.

@eleanorhawkins I have told my husband I won't follow him hiking anymore. His paths are not well traveled, much less marked. Sometimes they're animal trails but not always. His hikes almost always include mud or prickly bushes. Race Report! As I mentioned earlier, my race yesterday didn't go as well as I'd hoped. I had a…

Is anyone else having issues getting on the website on their computer?
-
Double ditto! Congrats to all the other racers this weekend. I am a little disappointed in my time for mine, but will try to write up a report and catch up on the rest of the posts later.
-
Haha, that's exactly what I thought! We picked up our race packets last night, which consisted of a bib, pins and leaflet (which was also emailed as a PDF).

No run yet. My schedule called for 2 miles today, but my legs are quite sore/tight and my knee wasn't feeling quite right yesterday. I spent a bit of time foam rolling and stretching, then my husband massaged my quads and inner/outer thighs. I promised him I wouldn't mess them up by running today.. so I didn't. I do feel…

Ack, I had a nice long post typed up and lost it. Thought I'd copied and pasted to notepad but apparently not. Oh well. Welcome everyone, young and old, new and ... not new? ... returning! runners. Love that, @PastorVincent! My goal for this month is 40 miles, with a stretch goal of 50. I had a Facebook memory popup today.…

@girlinahat I LOVE YOUR HAIR! Uh... update. I walked the dogs this morning. After foam rolling/stretching last night, I did more foam rolling/stretching this morning after the walk because various muscles in my legs are knotty. I'm wearing my compression socks today. I have no idea if they actually help or are placebo but…
