with the particular shades of dark we are talking about, yes, they are and when you factor in other physical features, there are some that are distincly african. and not just all of africa, but very specific regions....certain cheek bones, nose widths, etc. they aren't scientific in terms of DNA, but they are evolutionary…

You are also incorrect. Black dominicans are in the DR because they were originally transported there during the trans-atlantic slave trade. So, any person of dark or "black" skin are all descendants of Africa. You don't have to believe it, but it doesn't make you right. The original people to inhabit these lands are…

That is incorrect. Canadians are technically American. As are Mexicans, Guatemalans, Chileans, etc. etc. We are all from the continents known as the "America's" and the original descent of people who have a darker skin color is from the continent of Africa. Skin color variations as well as many other physical features are…

Eh. As the mother of three, I disagree. My kids are very "well trained" or I guess I should say, raised well, that doesn't mean that they don't occasionally lose their ever loving minds and embarrass me in public. Children simply do not know how to regulate their emotions. They have very real reactions to frustration,…

switching to low and no-fat isn't necessarily healthier. it usually has more added sugar. there is a time and place for full fat foods. fat in foods does not equal fat on body.

this might take the cake for the stupidest thing i've read all day. no pun intended.

how about opening up your diary so we can see what you eat and give you relevant feedback based on your diet.

are you set at sedentary? very few people are actually sedentary. I would up it to lightly active. Eating 1200 is almost never appropriate. For anyone.
-
1200 is too low for almost everyone. Netting under 1200 is a recipe for disaster. In 6 months, I've lost 40 pounds by eating 1800 calories and netting anywhere from 1500 to 1600. If you start eating too few calories, you'll do one of two things: 1. You'll end up failing because you start binging when the low calorie's…

I am almost in the same spot. I'm the same weight and exact same height. My last body pass test was 26% but I was 153 at the time. I look at my body and I am clearly skinny fat. I have a stomach roll still. Albeit smaller, but anyhow. Subbing for some kind of answer.

Thanks everyone! I'm not done yet. I plan to post again when I hit my goal weight (130) and again when I tone up.

Thanks everyone! I'm really trying to get my brain to catch up to my body. Can't wait! For now, I'm really enjoying shopping for new clothes. I hated the way I looked in clothes so I never shopped. I didn't realize that until now. I always wore grey and black. I dressed frumpy to try to hide my body. Now, though, I love…

I've read with walking and running, the equation to determine calories burned is pretty starboard. So in that case, your HRM and the treadmill should be pretty close. Things like the Arc Trainer and the Elliptical would be better judged by your HRM

Kristie... I have to say, I struggle with the same fat girl mentality. It s hard to look in the mirror and know you have lost weight but the eyes deceive. I don't see much change in the shape of my body and still feel like I look 180+ pounds. My husband says I'm crazy that the change is drastic. Just know, you aren't alone…

seems obvious. trust the HRM more.

You do realize this is an international site where English may not be everyone's first language, right? A little compassion goes a long way.

you care, because?

No it doesn't. They weigh the same. 5lbs = 5lbs. Muscle is denser

I found it took my legs some time to get used to the extra stress on my legs from running. As the extra weight came off, the pain subsided completely. Ice ice ice and slow down to a manageable pace until you can run without pain.
