  • Thanks! Very helpful information. I used to be anemic, but I am fine now. Yeah I try to eat green moong beans, chickpeas and tofu for most of my protein. Slowly gonna incorporate some source of extra protein supplements - looking into some vegan protein powders. Any suggestions?
  • Day 2 complete - could not do as many reps as them in some of the exercises. But its a start!
  • Guys, do you follow the nutrition plan? What do you guys eat to get the insane results? I am a vegetarian and cannot get 100g of protein a day. Do you guys drink coffee and give in to sweets?? I think saying no to sweets will be the biggest challenge for me. Suggestions on how to avoid peer pressure when someone says its…

I have done cardio elliptical/treadmill/cycling for 1 hr before and I felt that I was more burnt out in the fit test than 1 hr cardio machine workouts!! Are the workouts even harder??? I want to see the results in a month from now when school starts. How fast did you first…

  • I have been feeling quite crappy as well. I was emotionally upset since the last 2 months. I am an emotional eater as well. I ended up gaining around 8-10 pounds. When I stuck to this website, it motivated me to go to the gym, eat right, and make healthy choices throughout the day. However, being a nursing student its hard…
  • When you experience all the symptoms of UC - means you have inflammation - and are having a flare-up. You are in a flare-up state until your symptoms subside.
  • At first I was not able to eat all fruits and veggies. It depends on how much your insides have healed. But slowly, I can eat more and more veggies and fruits. Just experiment and listen to your body. When you start to go back on eating veggies - make sure you start with cooked veggies - raw will only make thins worse. I…
  • lime (1 tbsp) with warm water (1 cup) on empty stomach (first thing in the morning) is suppose to help you lose weight as per ayurvedic medicine. If you believe in it lol. I think it also suppresses hunger and makes you drink more water - that is the main way in which it helps you lose weight if you regularly take lime…
  • From all the preps that I have taken so far, the best one according to me is bi-peglyte. Includes stool softener and you only have to drink 2L of the solution.
  • The environment and genetics play a role in UC. Stress creates a negative internal environment for the body. So if your physical environment changes (i.e. the seasonal change), your body experiences some kind of stress and flare-up can be triggered. To avoid any flare-ups during seasonal changes, be ultra cautious and…
  • I was diagnosed with UC in 2009. I see my GI whenever I have a flare - otherwise every 3-6 months follow-up. Getting regular blood work ensures you do not have increased WBC and other inflammation markers. Just a prevention from getting a really bad flare and treating it in time. I get the flu shot because its kinda…

  • Hey! Are you just coming out of a flare-up? When I started on Remicade and Imuran I was in a flare-up and when the meds became effective and I was coming out of the flare-up, I started gaining weight. But I had lost quite a lot of weight during the flare-up. Your body goes through alot when you do have a flare-up (for me I…
  • Hey Susan! Glad you are doing much better on Remicade :) Chances are that your GI may keep you on Imuran but take you off of asacol But Less meds is always good.
  • Thank you :)
  • I am a 24 year old university student currently in nursing school. Feel free to add me =)

  • Susan - I know how you feel. During flare-ups I can hardly do any exercises - at most I would walk for a short amount of time. But right now I have been doing the elliptical, cycling and some weights and things are going fine. I guess I am more active during the school year. Once nursing school starts in Sept. I will be…

  • I personally believe protein powder could be helping in a lot of different ways - depending on what protein powder you take. There are some protein powders that also have some bad foods for your gut. I have been drinking protein powder since the last month and seen considerable amount of improvement. Not to mention protein…
