  • Thanks for your reply Sakura :) I'll keep pushing on that calorie limit then
  • Hi everyone, Sorry to revive an old thread but this has all the info about me in already! So here's the deal, I've taken on board a lot of what's been said. I'm really trying to eat more and I'm lifting heavier. Hell on my holiday I even just chilled out and enjoyed it! I ate pizza, pasta, full fat cheese, cream, lots more…
  • Any recipe I give you would just be a derivitive of one from here: http://www.proteinpow.com/ Have fun :)
  • There's more to a salad than the lettuce, just omit the lettuce and have more of the other veg and lots of meat?

  • I would suggest aubergine (or eggplant), courgette (or zucchini), mushrooms, onions, red or yellow pepper (you could use green but these add a touch of sweetness), olives, potato or squash, and whole cloves of garlic in their skin. Use all of that for a whopping portion you can store and reheat. Just spritz them with olive…
  • ^^^ this. People need to stop expecting them to taste like pasta because OBVIOUSLY they won't. They won't taste of anything on their own but if your rinse them then dry fry them and add a crap ton of flavour to the pan they're excellent! They're exactly the same texture as vermicelli rice noodles, no big deal
  • The one I feel most daft about fearing are starchy vegetables. But most carb foods or sugary/savoury snacks scare me
  • Wow...I seriously needed to read this. It's like the story of my life O_O except I have never been fat or even overweight. Just unhappy with how I looked
  • Not had a diagnosis but yes... The hardest thing I find (now I know I have a problem) is dealing with friends who still compliment my weightloss not realising how bad it has gotten. It sounds like you're getting a lot of help and support which I'm really glad to hear. The best advice I can give it just to take it one day…
  • @AxelM81 - that sounds excellent! But for someone in recovery it's far too restrictive. At the moment I'm doing a more carby workout days and fattier resting days. Though they're only small amounts. Can you make any other suggestions on this without being TOO restrictive on me? I just don't want to fall back into panicking…
  • Okay so maybe early October up my game a little? Might have moved up my calories more by then o even have gained weight from the family holiday
  • Excellent info here! Really appreciate your time to answer :) In response to the money confusion, sorry I wasn't clear enough, I meant the programme I just spent money to get - the one I posted.
  • Sorry for the late reply! Could I not just up the intensity of that routine? I kind of don't want it to be a waste of money :/ Also, I will shortly be going on holiday with my family to Florence for 9 days. we go every year so I know exactly what I want to eat but with no access to a gym I'm a bit nervous of gaining weight.
  • Some really excellent advice here! In response to the TDEE references - I have used just about EVERY calculator on the internet but I still don't know if I trust it and myself. Eg how much effort am I REALLY putting into the workouts. My body temperature's very low so I'm not much of a sweat-er and my muscles don't often…
  • I think perhaps anything with TOO much restriction would be unhealthy for me given I'm still trying to recover. I couldn't tell you for sure as my results always come out bizarre and different but I would guess it's around 20%? I have no idea if that's right or not though
  • I want an all round lean look. I don't want to be muscles galore or anything but nicely defined. I'll update when I get home :) thanks a lot
  • Don't apologise :) I asked for help, but my program is at home and I'm work atm, I can update in about an hour. I can tell you it's day one - chest and back [3 rounds, 2 exercises, 6 reps of 3 different sets...if that makes sense??], day two - legs [3 rounds, 5 exercises, 8 reps], day three - shoulders [same as day 2]
  • Properly since about October? Then I joined a new gym in Feb and got a program made up but I was at a HUGE deficit and doing lots of cardio. Got a new program in April with less cardio and more lifting. And just gotten another new program which has a circuit and just that 10 min warm up. Then the Kickboxing for aroun 2…
  • Any suggestions with macros at all? I've just started reintroducing more carbs, but keep most of them for post workout. I try and get as much protein from food sources but I do use protein powders to help up my calorie intake. And my fat intake is usually from oil and nuts and peanut butter. Can anyone look at my diary and…
  • This makes a little more sense now :) so nutritionally is there much difference?
  • Sorry, I'm still not sure I follow? Surely oats are oats. If the ingredient is rolled oats then...that's it? What does them being steel cut have to do with it? Sorry, I just want to understand but I can't see how 100% rolled oats=processed :(
  • Can someone explain to me the difference between buying steel cut oats to buying Quaker or Scot's Porridge oats?
  • I made her zucchini brownies last night...Seriously can't get over how freaking delicious they are!! I subbed the applesauce for banana though. I can't wait to try this pie! Cheers for spreading the word of chocolatecoveredkatie :D
  • ^^ this. Things like basil leaves or dried spices and herbs I don't log, but if it's seasoning like a sauce or a stock cube I do
  • This used to drive me insane, but you eventually learn to have a good check of the back of the packet to make sure they're not "cheating" you. If you like the bakey flavour of mini chedders you could try Nairn's oatbites? They're little flavoured oatcakes and I thought the cheesey ones were really satisfying at like 100…
  • bumping before I lose this
  • It's probably because people have been getting up for breakfast to fuel their days for yeaaarrrrrrrs. A lot of jobs were a little more hefty back then and people needed something to stop their stomachs rumbling and blood sugars dropping while they're lifting heavy things and what not. These days it's probably more to do…
  • You could always buy fresh tuna from the counter and flake it yourself? I know it takes extra time but if you're like it less mushy it's an option.
  • I'm just short of 5'3 but I'm kind of trying to gain now. Went a little too far! Feel free to add anyway, we might learn a lot from each other :)
