I really appreciate all of your help, but I have to be honest -- as soon as I saw the numbers, my head shut down. So what I'm hearing is that I can eat below the BMR and lose weight, and I need to eat back my exercise calories, is that right?
-
Awesome -- thank you!

If my BMR is 1290 and I need to eat over 1290, why did MFP tell me to eat 1200? I eat back my exercise cals, and I eat whenever I'm hungry, so no limiting food intake goin on here, I'm just trying to understand the science.

I tried this once because I love cabbage, it looked pretty nutritionally dense (except for the protein, that is definitely lacking), and it's such a classic diet, I felt it was a right of passage. Ultimately, it gave me a bad mood and I didn't stick with it, and then I think I gained even more weight. Would not recommend.

Definitely not diabetic, I'm healthy, but I'm trying to trim down the last 10 lbs, am hovering around the same 5 lbs, and I read reducing sugar intake would help. But man, one orange and I'm in the red? Why is MFP so harsh on sugars? I here you all though, I may just start ignoring the "sugar" column.

No -- but I lived there for many years and absolutely love it! Can someone please make me an honorary canadian?
-
How do we do this? What is our plan of attack?
-
I figured that would be the difficulty. Ideally, I'd like to tone up as well, so I'm anticipating a bit of weight gain. I'm just having trouble getting the scale to move much. Did you find there was a strategy that worked better than just calorie counting, say, abstaining from carbs?

No one has tried this? Or is my question really that crazy? Would appreciate feedback, thanks!

Whoa, I thought this was going to be about a new Subway sandwich... any kind of oil should work. I use olive oil and the breading sticks pretty well.

Def put this on top of couscous. Some other things you might consider adding that we eat in the Mediterranean: Raisins Dried apricots olives zucchini pine nuts mmmmmm....

What's AMR and how does it compare to what MFP calculates?

That's why you're here. When you learn the real nutritional value (or lack thereof) of foods, you'll learn how to mitigate risk to your healthy diet. Pizza is always a huge surprise, especially for those of us who think we're doing a good job loading up on veggies. Read through the recipes here on this site, and make sure…

When i was younger, I made a rule that my cut-off time was 5 hours before bed. But as I get older, I realize that's getting impossible. I'm too busy and hungry to do that!

That's odd --- 5'4" is the average height for American women! Sincerely, A 5'4" Woman

Thanks, sorry, I missed a punctuation mark.. the pizza made me go above my cals by 100%!!! Meaning, I should be at 1200 and I ended up at 2400!

We use the brown in the Mediterranean. Tastes delicious!! You can also try mixing the two for a great mix of nuttiness and texture. After the lentils have cooked and cooled, put everything in a food processor (or use a hand blender) and then finish with a spot of olive oil and a sprinkle of parmesan cheese. OMG DELISH. And…

Aside from looking at your sugar allowance on MFP, try by switching to fruits whenever you get a craving. It depends on the type of fruit, too. For instance, when I have a sugar carving, sometimes an apple won't do... but a kiwi hits the spot! Keep in mind fruit does have a lot of sugar, but I think you'll find switching…

Thanks for the suggestions! This is what happens when I don't get any sleep!

Well she's just not worth listening to BUT I have the same issue where I look smaller than I weigh. So whenever I try to communicate to people that I'm trying to keep my weight down, they huff and puff and look at me like I'm just fishing for attention -- that's just not the case, I'm looking for SUPPORT and comradeship. I…

Thank you so much for that -- sometimes it just takes a reminder to make you more mindful of what your next step is. Much appreciated!

Yeah, what's weird about it is, I knew it was bad as I was eating it. Before I ate it. After I ate it. At no point during the donut-eating experience did I notice that I was engaging in anything good. So what happened?
