A fitbit is great if all you're trying to do is measure steps. The site is useful for keeping track and setting personal goals. But if all you want to do is track steps, then get a normal pedometer, because the Fitbit One and the Flex are quite expensive little gadgets. HRM's in my opinion, are a far better method of…

Swimming - that will be the answer to his exercise and soreness problem. When I started losing weight, I was around his weight, and I too found I ended up quite sore after a decent workout. Then I started going to the gym and them swimming (despite the fact I was extremely self conscious) Now I'm down nearly 85lbs, and I…

Why would you care? To be honest, even if somebody did have a problem with it on here, it's not like they're going to admit it. Not even racists like being called a racist.

Everything except the humour.

Now it all makes sense!

Isn't Snapchat for teenage girls, as opposed to fat people, trying to get fit?
-
Why ask such a moronic question? 600 calories isn't enough calories for an infant, let alone a fully grown man. But you already probably knew that. Carry on eating 600 calories daily for the rest of your life, see where it gets you.

Google it, hundreds of different articles about it. Even the W.H.O mentioned something about it.

A nice Mccancer burger, as a treat? I could think of other better (yet still unhealthy) foods to splash out on as a treat!

By NOT drinking alcohol.

LOL. You need to lose weight/get into shape, and that's your biggest concern? Some people really do have too much time on their hands.
-
You're happy with your results and you worked hard to achieve them. Why should you care what negative BS other people have to say? Clearly they're jealous of your success.

The FT4 is extremely accurate in comparison to the Fitbit for calorie burns. I have both the Fitbit One and a Polar FT4 HRM, I have a treadmill at home and I use the gym and swimming pool 5 times a week. I used the Fitbit One whilst on the treadmill, and whilst it gives accurate steps taken, it grossly overestimates the…

I fully see what you're saying, but I suppose it really does come down to context. I would never ever dream of calling a work colleague, stranger or child a retard, but I have called it my friends, in jest, when messing around.. A banter kind of thing.

Perhaps it has some kind of placebo effect on the mind? Assuming you're eating a deficit in calories, you're going to lose weight. Whether you eat Mcdonalds or a home cooked roast, with vegetables. I read eating grapefruit is great for "speeding up your metabolism" so I ate grapefruit one week for breakfast, that week I…

^^^^^ What Ninerbuff said. Exercise is great, and I would never suggest losing weight without exercise, but overall, all you need to lose weight, is a deficit. The exercise would be a great way to avoid the "skinny fat" image.

My girl is a vegetarian, and since we got together, my meat consumption has gone right down, due to the fact she is a great cook! I went full vegetarian myself, but only lasted 3 months, as I love fish and chicken, and I was not reaching my protein goal. Now, I just eat chicken and fish. No pork, beef or any other kind of…

That completely explained it all. Thanks for that dude!

Don't deprive yourself of food you like. Swim Don't let yourself get "bored" Swim Figure out a way to hold yourself accountable, as opposed to relying on others for accountability. (even though I have nothing against group accountability, it's always good to be able to hold yourself accountable)

Maybe you would be better off posting this on a forum that is aimed at getting people back into work. A job centre forum perhaps? As for people turning up just for the fact they won't get their benefits stopped is the work programs people's faults. If you was in a situation where you either go to an interview (regardless…

Yeah, thanks for that. I needed clarification that the thread had come to a conclusion, even though I had already given thanks for the advice given.
-
I have a Fitbit One, it's good, but not as good as my Polar FT4 HRM, which is significantly cheaper that the Fitbit, and it gives me a far more accurate calorie burn reading.
-
That's what I thought, but I keep seeing threads about with people claiming eating before bed is no good in terms of weight loss, but going off how much your ticker says you've lost, I can tell you're speaking from experience! @ Damaddie - I read something about the whole nocturnal thing and weight loss being more…

I'm not too sure. Perhaps the people who use names like that, are the kinda people that wouldn't shut the hell up in real life about their kids. You know the kind.

Looking good, WLD! It's good to have someone as determined as myself on my friends list!

Just to add, swimming is great, it doesn't even feel like exercise. I enjoy doing it and could, if time permitted, stay in there all day without feeling overly exhausted. I strap my HRM on, and on average, over an hour, I burn around 600 calories (MFP grossly overestimates calorie burns, a HRM is a far better means of…

Absolutely you can lose weight without exercise. As many people have already mentioned, all it takes for a weight loss is a deficit in calories. When I started to lose weight (this time round) I started off with no exercise. I just stuck to the calories set by MFP. That was in May of this year, now I have a gym membership…

Alright, this might be a stupid question, but what does VO2 mean? I do update my HRM with my current weight. Damir, it's either my HRM or it's me.
-
Did you have the FT4 prior to that? I just want to know if the FT7 is more accurate to the FT4, not really bothered about it storing more workout data or anything like that.

Then perhaps you need a new washing machine? Maybe you're still using a wash board, down by the river? My clothing comes out smelling fresh everytime, with just hot water, the washing machine and some detergent.
