  • You know, I tried the juicing thing for about a day 3 or 4 years back, I used the machine once, liked it, then never used it again! that was mainly due to the complex machine, that had about 1000 different parts, the juicer I have now is really easy and quick to use and clean!
  • I'm the opposite! I love to eat the same foods, but now I've lost this much weight, I'm having difficulty keeping up the progress! @Luv2eatsweets - I do that all the time, I once quoted myself 4 times, in the same post, if that makes sense? Lol.
  • Yeah, pineapple is something I use, too, I just forgot to mention it! Can I ask what fruits/veggies you use the most? I've found myself using carrots, apples and pears with nearly all my mixes!
  • I actually bought some parsley - have it sitting on the kitchen window, not plucked up the courage to use it yet. I don't want to ruin my juice with something I might not like!
  • 203lbs lost, that's amazing, btw! Yeah, give it a try! You must be in the same boat as me, now I've lost 135lbs just by keeping a deficit and starting swimming, I'm looking at new methods to shake some extra lbs!
  • Yeah, ginger is something I can imagine being quite overpowering. Typo above, btw, I don't put "meat" in my juices! Onions are something I thought about juicing, I love onions, but not sure how they would taste in a juice, given that they're quite overpowering!
  • Ginger! That's not something I've tried yet. It's meant to be quite tricky to juice I've heard? Has the potential to destroy your juicer? Cinnamon is something I have in and haven't tried yet. Apparently cinnamon, pears and apples are meat to be a really nice mixture?!
  • Aye, I concur, the whole 3 day juice replacement is too much. Breakfast, however, is something I can deal with, given that I'm not really a breakfast person. Drinking a juice is easier than eating in the mornings! Sorry it didn't work for you. I knew it was one of them things that people either swear by, or down right…
  • Well, at first I was going to replace all meals, it's called a "reboot" but I soon discovered that there was no way I could replace all food with all juice. I just enjoy eating too much. So, in the end, I just decided to replace breakfast with a juice, then sometimes I have one in the evenings.
  • You know, here in the UK, there is a pill named "Orlistat" also called "Xenical" and the over the counter, less effective version is called "Alli" and I find it great! Loads of people complained about "oily leakage" and their stomachs being upset, but I found they have really helped. Been taking them on and off for a year…
  • The fruit and veg I mainly use is carrots, apples, pears, lemons, celery, oranges, blueberries, raspberries and cucumber. I've still got to try out the sweet potatoes and kale. It's interesting mixing stuff up just to see what it tastes like. The celery ones are quite overpowering though - I'm not a huge fan of celery!
  • Yeah, made me chuckle, too!
  • Aspartame tastes chemically. I don't drink soda, but on the rare times I do, I'd rather drink a non diet one. than all that artificial funk. To be fair to the OP, I can probably find more people's arguments against Aspartame, than for it. Lot's of people seem to think they have clear cut proof it's not good for you. Lot's…
  • There is lots of simple ways to get exercise in. Walking - everybody likes a walk, right?! Light weight lifting before bed - easy, tones you up and burns calories (I know a girl who had major overall success just from using her shake weight 3 times a week for 6 months) Swimming - I only suggest this because it literally…
  • Your TDEE factors in your exercise. Eating your TDEE is a deficit. I mean, I could be wrong, I'm not an expert or anything, but I lost 135lbs going off these basic principals, so I must have been doing something right! If I was going to give you any advice at all, it would be don't fall into the 1200 daily calorie trap.…
  • ^^^^^ What she said. I swim 5 times per week, and guaranteed, if I weight myself within 24 hours of exercise, my weight has gone up (on the scale) once I leave it for a few days, it drops down to what it actually is. OP, I totally get what you mean about exercise. When I started, I hated the idea of it. It's a case of…
  • Zero calorie chocolate should not be worthy of the title "chocolate" !!!
  • 1200 is an absolute minimum that MFP can suggest, it's a guideline, at best. Personally, I wouldn't suggest it. That kind of limitation makes me miserable, because I'm constantly having to overthink what I can or can't eat. If you're exercising, factor that in to your calories with your TDEE, you will notice a much more…
  • Me too. I started at 404lbs, at that weight, I could make drastic deficits and get away with it. Now, I'm 260lbs, and to get a 2lbs per week loss, I need to eat at around 1850 daily calories, sometimes I eat more, sometimes less, but weirdly enough, I tend to lose weight more consistently when I eat more? Go figure. I do…
  • Well, I don't know the OP's weight and height, but my point is I guess, if she is overweight by whatever amount of calories, then based on the average amount of calories an average sized woman needs to maintain, 1900, with or without exercise will leave her in a deficit. My Mum, for example. She is 5'4, and 126lbs. she…
  • A simple way is find out what your BMR is. There is an app on here for it. Another way is by working out your TDEE. If you factor in your exercise, then your TDEE would most certainly be above 1900 calories a day. If I didn't exercise - at all, and ate 1900 calories per day, I'd still lose weight.
  • Isn't the daily recommended amount of calories for the average sized woman to maintain on 2000, and a male 2500? Not sure how you come to the conclusion that eating 1900 daily calories, on top of exercise won't be enough to lose weight.
  • Eat more calories. Eat more calories. Eat more calories.
  • I fully understand what you mean by trying to control your sugars. Natural sugars are always a great substitute to any "junk" food sugars you're trying to give up. I like to get Greek yogurt, throw in some fruit (usually mandarins, blueberries or banana) then add a bit of maple syrup. (optional, it's nice without the maple…
  • Wow, I wasn't expecting so many nice comments, once again - thanks everybody! Aye, the smile is a tricky one, especially to capture on camera. Firstly I avoid cameras, and if I am caught out by one, I'm usually not smiling! Lol. To whoever mentioned the muscle - I have quite defined shoulders and arms, courtesy of…
  • Again, thanks for the support people! The MFP forums have played an instrumental part in my weight loss!
  • Looking good, brother. I started at 404lbs, I've managed to lose 135lbs so far myself - I know your struggle! Keep up the good work!
  • Yeah - me! Funnily enough, I just posted some progress pictures under "success stories" (1 year anniversary) and I still want to lose about another 50LBS until I am happy with my weight overall! Good job on the weight loss, too. I know how hard it can be!
  • Thanks everybody! Once I've lost another 50LBS, I'll upload more pictures, and try to smile in the next ones - TRY being the key word!
  • I've learned, that somehow, cauliflower is an acceptable substitute for both rice and bread...
