  • I'd rather be fat than eat 1200 calories a day.
  • I usually go over on sugar every day, but it's mainly down to fruit.
  • I go swimming 4-5 times a week, usually for at least an hour each time. I find with swimming, it doesn't really feel like a workout, but my HR is constantly raised, more so than when walking/jogging. I lift weight's usually 2-3 times a week also, depending how my arms are after the intense swimming sessions!
  • I'm down for this! SW: 405 CW: 304 GW: 296 LTGW: 180 Weigh-ins: Week 1: 11/07/13 Week 2: 11/14/13 Week 3: 11/21/13 Week 4: 11/28/13
  • Try doing some exercise, if you're not used to it, start off with small activities. Try walking around your block, a park - take the dog out (if you have one) I say this, because MFP (even though it tends to overestimate) will calculate your exercise and add it on to your NET total, allowing you to eat those exercise…
  • Looking good, man. You should be proud of yourself.
  • £26 per month. Which is probably something like $45 in American money.
  • Given your height, you could probably get away with 1200 calories. I wouldn't suggest it over a long period of time though. Once you've lost a bit more weight, perhaps drop your weight loss to 1lb per week, enabling you to eat more and maintain a healthy weight loss.
  • Best thing I did this year was take out my gym/swimming poll membership, I did it in person though, a long with my reintroduction to the gym, machines, electronic key logger, ect. I assume if you have paid online, you will have been given an online receipt (usually sent to your email address) they will also have a record.…
  • If you want an accurate calorie burn readout based on your weight, height, age and gender, then perhaps you should consider getting a heart rate monitor. (HRM) Based on your stats and your BPM, it gives you an accurate readout for what you will have burned. MFP, although it is a great tool and site, does seem to…
  • I get like that when I have had an overly productive week. I find myself not in the mood for it, so I assume I need a rest. After a day or 2 of chilling out, I usually rediscover my motivation.
  • Yeah, desk jobs are the worse for boredom, glad I don't have one anymore! I've managed to find a decent amount of fellow Brits on here, too!
  • If he continues to net under 1200 calories, he's not going to leave himself any room for further reduction as the weight comes off. I started off around his weight, and I have lost 100lbs since May. I exercise quite intensely 5 times a week, I usually eat some of my exercise calories back, and I lose (usually) at least 2lb…
  • I'm constantly telling people 1200 calories is too little, but the people who see results from it tend to not listen. I guess it's a case of each to their own. I personally usually have between 1000-1200 calories just for my dinner, around 300 for breakfast and perhaps upto 400 in snacks. I.E Fruit, small bar of chocolate,…
  • I could never imagine swimming in such cold conditions. It's bad enough going from the steam room to the pool, it always feels freezing for a few minutes whilst I adjust to the temperature change! But yeah, people who go to the adult swim session, then spend their time slowly floating around, talking to each other,…
  • Wish I could, but you know, it's difficult to swim when you get moaned at for getting someone wet.
  • I was around 27 stone is May, down to just over 21 stone now, so I know how you feel. Feel free to add me man, I like to class myself as a motivational person, plus it's always good to have fellow Brits on side!
  • You know, I never really thought about the whole chlorine in the hair part of it, because I have a shaved head, so I can see your point there! I do agree on the unreasonable part though, I mean, if I'm taking a breather and someone comes full force past me and I get a mouthful of chlorinated water, I don't like it, but I…
  • My family are always supportive, and they always recognize my progress. I usually see them every 2 weeks, so I guess it's just long enough for them to notice it each time I come over!
  • Lol, the only issue I have with my fellow man is the way some of them hog the steam rooms. Some spend about 2 minutes in the pool, and the rest of time in the steam room/sauna. Where they will strike up the same conversation with each and every single person that comes to sit in there!
  • I have a Fitbit as well. The Fitbit One, and where I did find it useful as a pedometer, I realised it didn't track BPM or the intensity of how the steps were obtained! So in the end, all I found it to be was a glorified pedometer! But, it did give a more accurate calorie burn reading than MFP!
  • Lol. I decided on a HRM, due to people telling me MFP overestimated, so I spent £50 on a Polar HRM (about $75) and after using it, I noticed BIG differences. Like with swimming for example. I usually do between 60 - 90 minutes in the swimming pool. My HRM will give me a reading of between 650 - 950, depending on how hard I…
  • Also, just to add, if you use MFP to estimate your calorie burn, it grossly overestimates, so if you're one of the people who likes to eat their exercise calories back, this can be a problem.
  • Buy a HRM (heart rate monitor) I have the Polar FT4, it takes your age, weight, height and gender. You have a watch with your data on, and you get a chest strap with a transmitter on it to strap to your chest. Based on the stats you put into it, it gives you a very accurate reading on the calories you burn.
  • NAW, lol. I have said a couple of times "Look, this is a swimming pool, not a hair dressers, accept that you're going to get wet" ^^^^^ This, however, in their eyes is unreasonable! I mean after all, I did just accidentally splash them and get their hair wet, as far as they're concerned, I'm the devil!
  • Exactly! The pool is for swimming for lengths, not congregating in a line, hogging 2-3 lanes, talking to each other and then whining when they get their hair wet!
  • Oh and, when you all congregate in a LINE going across 3 swimming lanes, then complain when someone swims inbetween you, so they don't have to stop! What gives?! Lol.
  • Well, I've already lost around 95lbs, got the same to still lose over again! Feel free to add me for support.
  • 6 months ago, I would have attacked it!
  • I could have probably eaten an entire chicken, without much hassle 6 months ago. These days I'm not much of a meat eater at all (vegetarian girlfriend) but I reckon I could still probably polish off a whole chicken, given it's the only meat I still do occasionally eat.
