During my teens to mid 40's, I would lose 30lbs regain it all and sometimes more and then lose some. But, I got bigger every decade. 4 years ago I lost 42 and over 18 months regained 22, however before I regained it all, I started here and have lost 42, with only 4 to go. It is reassuring, yet sad to read so many of us…

The fasting that I follow means I eat Sunday night and then a small meal (500) calories Monday night. I am not really hungry, just peckish when I go to sleep. I will have breakfast on Tuesday. I do this twice a week. Other people have different regimes but this suits me.

Like you when I stopped smoking I gained weight, 35lbs when I was already over 28lbs overweight. Then I managed to lose 46lbs, but over the next 2 years put 22 back again! This time I have lost 42 with only 4 to go. I was fat and forty, so have decided fifties is about being fab and fit. Not smoking has resulted in me…

I am not quite at goal yet. 41lbs in 9 months. I have 5 lbs to go. I had holidays off from losing, I had a week/10 day break every 12weeks. This works out at approximately 1lb a week. I wasn't prepared to be as hungry as I would have needed to have lost faster. I ate 1500 cals a day irrespective of what exercise I did. Now…

Yes for me to. Whilst I am being 'good', I am very disciplined and eat only healthy foods and sensible portions. However once the floodgates open, then I am back to huge amounts and high fat food and I gain weight. Each time I say to myself this time, no going back, no more gaining weight I have worked so hard to lose.…

http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss/of-whooshes-and-squishy-fat.html Lyle McDonald provides an explanation about this. It is evidence of successful weight loss.

I am 50 and have lost 40lbs and plan on loosing 6lbs more. I might loose less because at my age its a trade of between flatter tummy versus too gaunt in face:sad: First 7 months I ate 1500 every day irrespective of my exercise. I swim 6 days a week and run 4 but this is not new, I managed to gain 30lbs with the same level…

No, if I ate every time I was hungry, I would be overweight again. I can have a meal with protein and complex carbs and 2 hours be hungry again. I have a much larger appetite than my husband.. Going hungry for a while is not harmful and the feeling will go away. I fast 2 days a week and know that I just have to ignore the…

It's a channel 4 programme so if you go on to the channel 4 site you will be able to find out and I think with More on 4, you may be able to catch re runs

I think the opinions of others can be very valuable depending on who they are and what is their likely motivation. I havent lost any where near the amount you have but still struggle to 'see' what I look like. I can not seem to see how fat I get, or how slim I can be. As someone who has always gone up and down, I have…

Nothing until lunch or if I am fasting the evening meal. Having breakfast results in me being hungry and then it is hard to stay within cals

For me I knew I had to increase my deficit as being smaller I no longer needed as many calories as I started with. I had been loosing 1lb a week on 1500. I realised I needed to drop to 1200 ish for the last 10. The way I have done this is by 5:2 day fasting. 1500 5 days and 500 for 2 days, so far this is working well and…

Yes pleasure but way too much. I am either in total control, loosing weight and hungry. Or eating what it feels like I need, bot obviously don't because I then put on weight. I have never liked fast food as such, but I love feeling full. For me it is eat what I want and enjoy = fat and therefore unhappy. So I can be…

I have been doing this since I watched the programme early August, so this is my 5th week. Only 500 for me as a woman. I am on 1500 the other 5 days as I am trying to lose weight. I am hoping that aside from weight loss now and assistance with maintainence In the future, I will reduce risk of heart disease and cancer. I…

I am 5ft 4. 25. I currently weigh 135 and I am aiming for 126. I wear size 12 jean (UK) (US) 8. I carry my weight around my middle so I doubt I will get any smaller than 10 (6) if even that.

As ever thought provoking and what you write makes me reflect. Thank you for posting

Congratulations. Your comments about the hip ratio cholesterol etc it is such an achievement and so worth having. Looking good is great, but being healthy is so important and worthwhile.

I noticed a change in clothes fitting at 10/15 lbs but couldn't see a difference. Others commented when I lost 25/30lbs. The only way I can 'see' it is looking at before and during photos. Technology makes it so much easier when you can compare old photos side by side with the new ones as you take them. I take photos every…

I am the awful apple which now that I am 50 is worse than ever. I have skirts which I could wear 20 years ago when I was heavier than I am now, but now too tight on the waist but hugely loose at the hips. However, although we will never have the waists of our hourglass and pear shaped sisters, it does get better. I have…

Fantastic progress. Your picture doesn't show too well on the post as only seeing the before. However because I could see your photos on your profile, I could see the incredible amount you have lost. Well done you.

Same as some previous posters. Drink when thirsty. Experts in this field point out that no athlete has ever died due to dehydration but, there are athletes who have been very ill and died from over hydration . Too much fluid is harmful.

I was on Ramipril for 6 years and not aware of any side effects. As of last week I am off all medication, mostly attributable to being 36lbs lighter. Good luck with getting your medication correct.

I have had quite different experiences to most posters here. I am probably one of those people who irritate you! I love talking to other people about their weight loss, I am genuinely impressed and interested. When people comment about my weight loss although I am a bit embarrassed and tell them I still have more to lose,…

I started in my teens as my 'protest' against the rearing, transportation and slaughtering of animals. Over 30 years later I still do not want to eat flesh.

I am 5ft 4.25 inches . Aged 50. Medium frame, wrist 6 bit inches I started at 172 - jan 12 Current 136 Goal 126 Although I am very pleased with my progress, I am far from satisfied with how I look. I am apple shaped so have a non existent waist. When I compare myself to others, those who are hour glass or pear shaped can…

Amazing. You are very impressive.

Nothing before. I feel much more comfortable exercising without having eaten before. I only run 5 or 10k and therefore don't need to 'fuel up', prior to running. If I run in the morning I will wait until lunchtime, otherwise whenever my next meal is.

There is an article in the Saturday Telegraph. In the article he explains that due to lack of extensive research it is not possible to determine whether consuming all calories at one go, or spreading them out is more beneficial. He considers personal preference should be the guide. He also advocates the fast days should be…
