  • Pineapple and kiwi for me. I see a theme here...
  • I can't spend the money on every size! I'm sporting the baggy look right now. My plan is to buy one nice pair of petite jeans (on sale) to wear out, then hit Goodwill to get me through the rest. Yeah, you can NEVER find petite, used but I don't care about wearing pants that I've cut to size around the house! You could also…
  • This MyoTape Body Tape Measure is an amazing tool for an even more amazing price. It makes it VERY EASY to take consistent measurements. Get one. Seriously. http://www.amazon.com/health-personal-care/dp/B000G7YW7Y
  • I'm just a beginner, so I can't help you. But I've found a lot of help and information on the "Eat, Train, Progress" group. Good luck! http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/10067-eat-train-progress-
  • Thanks for the site! I've spent a good bit of the morning looking around and learned a good bit. Bookmarked for future reference!
  • You answered part of it right there. Don't go below BMR. I'd up your intake to at least 1700. Do the TDEE calculation and see where that is in relation to your BMR. That should give you a good range to shoot for. Good luck!
  • Oooh, watching this thread! I'm lactose intolerant (sounds like you may be, too) so the whey is out. I've been using (and love) Spirutein, but it's a bit expensive and kind of high on sugar and sodium (no wonder it tastes good). I ordered a pound of hemp/rice from TrueNutrition.com, but it's very gritty. Still hoping to…
  • I've read that Jillian herself says to do it every other day, with a day of cardio in between, and a 1 day of rest per week. It was a marketing thing to make it 30 days. Don't stress over the every day thing.
  • Last night, the guy in front of me in the self-check out had a "yours-mine-ours" trip. - gallon of organic skim milk - box of Little Debbie Nutty Bars - box of condoms Yeah, I looked... and grinned.
  • "Fun-sized". I like that! I'm fun-sized at 5'0. I started out at 210, but now I'm down to 185 pounds while eating about 1600 calories/day. I've got another 50 to lose before I hit my first goal. (I will reassess then, but since I've haven't been that small since I don't know when, that's a good goal.) Add me if you want
  • If I MUST fast food, I stick with a salad, no croutons, no dressing, and an extra serving of grilled meat. Even that is loaded with sodium, but it's the best option I have found for me. Good luck.

  • I got back from a 7-day cruise on the 8th. I had gained 10.6 pounds by the time I got back. I lost 8.3 in the first three days upon returning home to my regular routine. It was water weight. Then TOM hit and messed me up. :grumble: But today I hit and surpassed my pre-cruise weight. So, it took me 13 days to get back on…
  • Peanut butter is essentially a fat. It is a healthier fat, with some nice benefits and WONDERFUL taste, but it is very calorie-dense. I have peanut butter every day. I crave it more than chocolate. But I plan ahead for it. You just have to be careful of serving size and not carry the jar and spoon around with you, but it…
  • My favorite go-to snack is linked below. I like to make a double batch and freeze them, pulling them out as needed. They're great for on-the-go, too. I really need to make some more this weekend! http://muffin-topless.com/2012/08/17/cinnamon-pumpkin-protein-muffins/ My other favorites are 85% dark chocolate squares,…
  • In the past, I've changed my diet too much too soon and made myself miserable. A recipe for giving up! This time, I've made small changes as I go. I don't know if it is available on the website, but on the app, I can review all of the nutrients from my day or from a whole week. Each week, I look at my numbers. The first…
  • I soak them overnight to use in my breakfast smoothies sometimes. I soak them in almond milk. I find that if I stir them well at first, then again after about 15 minutes, I've got a pretty good gel by the morning. Good luck!

  • No need to get measuring spoons dirty! My husband puts his coffee on the scale, zeros it out, "splashes" in the milk, and adds that number of grams to his count for the day.
  • Yes, it sucks when it happens. But, as weird as it sounds, I kind of like it when that happens. Then I can see in black and white exactly WHY and HOW I got to be this big. Those are wonderful reminder moments. Learn and move on.
  • Awesome hubby! I's sure you are both so proud of each other.

  • I drink Almond Breeze almond milk (unsweetened vanilla - yum!). It's calcium enriched with 45% of your calcium in one cup. I they realized calcium is an issue for those of us who are lactose intolerant and looking for alternatives.
  • I've been drinking dandelion root tea for about a year now, before I'd ever heard about JM. It helps my reflux, plus that's one more cup of water in my day! I don't find it helps with water weight or whatever "cleansing" it's supposed to do. But I do sleep better!
  • Devote one day to a "learning day". Don't worry about the burn, but focus on directions and form. Then, when you do it for real later that day or the next day, you will know what you are doing and not get lost so easily. Don't give up!
  • Switch your salt from sodium to potassium. (Check the label) Switch your sweetener to Blackstrap Molasses (730mg per tablespoon!)

  • I've only got my little 3-pounders available, and DH has a bar with 5- and 10-pound disks. (Sorry, I don't even know the terminology, but I'm hoping you understand what I'm talking about.) I can buy some more weights for use at the house, though I can't spend a massive amount all at once. I'm just not sure what to get…
  • If I bump my fat to 35%, that puts me at 64 grams, which is right between the two, so that should work well. Thanks. I can't get to a gym, so I'd have to do strength training at home. At the moment, I feel like Jillian is about to kill me with my 3-pound dumbbells, so I REALLY need to start at the beginning. I bookmarked…
  • Ooh, forgot that one! I guess that's my #11!
  • 1. Remove the temptation. 2. Figure out your cravings. (I can tell my period is coming when I start craving peanut butter and baked goods like cupcakes, soft-baked cookies, etc.) 3. Find some recipes that fulfill those cravings but are healthier alternatives. (Use protein powder to replace some flour, made with applesauce…

  • I'm curious about this, too. My RHR is 59, and I am far, far, FAR from fit.
  • At 5' and 200+ pounds, I am CERTAINLY obese. I was afraid to start 30 Day Shred, but read that you didn't have to do it every day. I decided to try it, and tough it was tough, I made it through the first day. And the second. I just finished day 10 today and will be moving on to Level 1 tomorrow. I've got problems with my…
  • Push the up button on the right. That will get you into the menu to choose "settings". Be sure you're watching all of the FT4 videos: http://www.polarusa.com/us-en/tutorial_videos# (I had to use the pause button a lot while watching the videos.)
