It sounds like most people are looking at their total values for carbs/fat/protein rather than making sure that individual meals and snacks are balanced 40/30/30? According to the book I read it seemed that all meals and snacks should be balanced and that seemed more complicated than what I wanted to make this. It would…

I am betting she misunderstood the advice that you have to "burn off more than you consume." Good advice but she totally misinterpreted it. You need to have a calorie deficit but you also need to give your body energy to function. She doesn't realize that your body burns calories in other ways besides exercise.

How hot is too hot outside? If it truly is too hot (like over 90) then go outside during the mornning hours when it isn't quite so hot yet. Find a park, playground or ballfield close to you. Go for walks or bike rides. Buy scooters and outside toys to keep for them to keep at your house or have them bring some of their…

I've struggled with constipation since I was a baby (according to my mother). Lately I have been going every day or every other day for the most part, but it is not uncommon for me to go 5 days between bowel movements. Usually I am not that uncomfortable until the last day or so and then it is horrible. When I do go I have…

I've been thinking about getting the Zumba 2 for Wii. It had better reviews on Amazon than the first one.

Can you give examples of fat blockers, etc?

I just sent you a friend request/message. How did you arrive at the 1800 calorie goal? You should definitely add cals for nursing but first you need to know if the 1800 is correct. I also don't think your weight loss so far is that slow.

I just sent you a request. :) Anyone else can add me, too.

I agree with this. I want to have a long and healthy life. I do take some supplements but don't think they can replace good quality food. I was/am able to open my mind and try new things because I heard such great things about the foods--nutritionally and/or regarding taste. While I was at it I found that I do enjoy more…

Ok. so the way you are calculating is the way he does it. Still doesn't make sense to me. I just calculated my TDEE on about 10 websites and most were 1688. None higher than that. He said that fat2fit already calculates a deficit, which is why he adds the 20%. But, that isn't necessarily true. They give you the TDEE of…

I went back and read the post from helloitsdan and what I understand is that he is adding 20% to your BMR, not to the amount that fat2fit gives as your goal weight TDEE. If I do this the number is closer to what I get when I calculate my TDEE in other ways but is a bit low, even being sedentary. I wrote to him to ask about…

Have you tried new things lately? When I was younger I was pretty picky but like a lot of things now, especially veggies. Actually, I would say that at least 90% of the things I eat now I didn't eat 10-15 years ago. What are some things that you do like?

Sorry to keep hashing this over and over again.... I haven't seen anywhere on either of those sites that you should add 20%? Fat2fit just says to eat the given calories based on your goal weight maintenance (or a few hundred less). I could see adding 20% if you are working off of your BMR, though. When I enter my info into…

Yes and no. :) It makes sense when you explain that you worded it wrong the first time (that you were not actually adding to your current TDEE) but it seems that it would be easier and probably more accurate to figure out what your current TDEE and subtract 20% to get your deficit. If I added 20% to my goal weight TDEE it…

I will say that for some reason the last 5 pregnancy lbs are stubborn. I do know that I started my first at 125 and got down to 129. When I got pregnant with my second I weighed 135. When he turned one I weighed 122. I then got a different job and created bad eating habits. I weighed 145 when I got pregnant with my third…

I have four kids (youngest is 6 months old) and I have breastfed them all so I don't know how my body would respond if I wasn't breastfeeding, but I did/do lose weight breastfeeding. Breastfeeding moms burn about 500 more calories per day so it creates a natural deficit. However, I think too many people think they can eat…

Your current weight is 161 but that is not your lean mass.

I like to shop at Aldi for produce and meat and some dairy. They are much cheaper than Walmart or the regular grocery store chain.

College weight--105-110 Weight when I got married at age 24--118 Weight when I got pregnant with my first child at age 27--130 Highest pregnancy weight--180 (what I weighed when I gave birth to all four kids) Highest non-pregnancy weight--150 (what I weighed when I got pregnant with my 6 month old) Current weight is 148.…

I'm not sure why sar13bear is adding 20% to her TDEE. Maybe she can clarify that. I haven't seen that anywhere and it doesn't make sense to me. If your TDEE is the amount of calories that you need to maintain your current weight, adding 20% to it would mean a weight gain, not a loss.
-
I;'m confused about why you are taking your TDEE x .20 and adding it to your TDEE. You should subtract 10-20% from your TDEE, not add to it. Then add your 300 breastfeeding calories. If you aren't accounting for your exercise when you calculated your TDEE then eat back some of your exercise cals if you want. If you already…

What's in it? I have been noticing more gas after eating Zone bars but luckily it doesn't start until my drive home from work. Yesterday I switched to Nature Valley protein bars and didn't have that problem. Good luck!

I do know that after my other children I would lose for awhile, then nothing, then all of a sudden lose again. I wasn't doing anything to lose weight it just happened. I wish I would have been paying more attention to what I was doing so I knew what to do this time! :) I think as baby gets older something changes in the…

You are also not eating at your TDEE because you subtracted 300 calories from that. You could say that you used your goal weight TDEE to determine your calorie goals but it is not accurate to say that you are eating your TDEE. Based on your post I gathered that, but want to make sure people are clear on what you are doing.…

Which diet soda has a lot of sodium? The ones I have looked at have very little. I am not trying to say that diet soda is healthy but I don't believe sodium is one reason why.
-
Diet soda has the same sweetener as Crystal Light.

How old are you? How active? That will factor into the BMR and TDEE equation. I am 36, 5'0" and 148. My BMR and TDEE is nowhere near what the previous poster put up. However, I use the sedentary equation then add in exercise calories. I have a very inactive job.

Everything that I have read says that when breastfeeding you should stay around 1700-1800 (at least) calories per day. I have also read that you should add 300 or 500 (have read different things) calories to what you would normally need to eat to lose weight. I agree that the info on the boards can be crazy-making. MFP had…

I hear you. It is so frustrating when people close to you don't take their health seriously. My husband's stepfather has been diabetic for years. He does no physical exercise (and not even much activity since my MIL does everything for him) and eats horribly. It is just a matter of time before something bad happens to him.…
