Your photos really stood out to me. You did this work at home?? May I ask exactly what equipment you bought/used? Please forgive me, this is all really new to me... So I really wouldn't know much about what is required. I would LOVE to be able to lift heavy at home. I just need to know what exactly I need. Like, for…

Thank you, auddii! I'm feeling so inspired by this thread

This thread... wow. I see such amazing changes. I can't afford the gym for at least a few months :/ I wish I could "lift heavy" at home... I've heard about Stronglifts... I wonder though, will I know what to do with that app at the gym? Or do I need additional info before I start? I don't want injuries from lifting heavy…

Added you :) I need to lose about 40 lbs, and build a lot of muscle. Happy to encourage you :)
-
Added you! We can do this!!! :)

Just found this article... interesting. And I've heard talk about this type of fat before: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/how-to-get-rid-of-excess-skin-after-major-weight-loss/#axzz36wwSuvPN

I COMPLETELY understand your worry. I am 5'9" and have had a gut since I was about 5. Literally, it looked like I had a beer gut by the time I was about 6.. But since I was about 12 or so, my stomach has hung down... literally, like a fold. I don't know if this is just because I have about 40 lbs of fat to lose or if it's…

I was recently challenged by a fitness buddy to join her and take a 21 days without alcohol challenge to jump start my healthy goals. I've taken it on. It's not easy but each day is a bit better. I, too, love a good buzz. I also struggle with sleep. I'm not an insomniac, but life is a brat often to all of us, and that…

Thank you!! I am definitely trying to focus more on fitness and toning than the scale. I've seen people make amazing changes, get way slimmer and have muscle definition and still be the same weight! It's crazy.

I love the Jillian Michaels videos for when I'm just starting out. Here is level 1 on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Pc-NizMgg8 They also have Level 2 and 3 and some of her other videos on youtube. 30 day shred is best if you're very new to working out or it's been years like me! Also Bob Harper's Pure Burn…

Thank you!!! I already buckled and set my macros back to default :( I was feeling so tired and hungry and like I needed more carbs. I'm gonna do what juggernaut mentioned, and see if I can successfully lose for weeks with defaults. If I stall, I'll reevaluate. I'm so glad I got all of the above advice from you guys so that…

Thank you!!! :D Great to hear. Appreciate the encouragement too :) May I ask, were you eating 1500-1800 PLUS the fitbit calories earned? Or 1500-1800 including the fitbit calories?
-
You are awesome!! I will do that :)

I would call it moderate, so I think that's right on. Wow, I guess I was being too hard on myself. Before, when I was doing well on WW, I had lost 60 lbs and was eating 1400 and stopped losing. I asked people on another forum and they told me to eat more. Soon after that I lost my way and have since gained about half back.…

didn't know that! Thank you! Are you thinking my calorie goal is too low? The reason I wanted it there is because I do very little on the days I don't work out, so i didn't want to un-do my workouts
-
So having that high of fat grams in my diet won't be unhealthy? I don't need heart problems on top of being fat :P EDIT: Yes, I usually eat back some, but not all. I'm afraid of un-doing my hard work
-
Oops, sorry, left that out. I set it at -2 a week
-
Well I saved my stats here but the default %s are still showing in the app on my phone :/

I put in that I weigh 187, want to weigh 150, and that I'm sedentary. Right now I'm a stay-at-home fiancee lol, so I don't get much activity in except for my workouts. My fitbit usually gives me about 400 extra calories and I usually try to only eat a bit of those.
-
Thank you guys!!! I couldn't get fat that high without cutting out carbs... and this is my minimum calorie count so I suppose they'll go up the days I work out... How does this look? Again, I weigh 187 right now... I feel like fat is high. Is it really supposed to be that high? Calories 1200 Carbohydrates 60 g 20 % Fat 53…

I don't claim to be an expert, but back when I weighed 170 (I'm 5'9") I was told that 1400 wasn't enough and to eat MORE (I was exercising about 5 days a week). I increased my calories to 1600 and lost almost 2 lbs that week. Again, I'm no expert, but considering you're in the 200s I feel like 1000-1200 isn't enough, and…

Sent you a request :)

MKEgal thanks for those!! Also, anyone here, feel free to add me!! I'd love to have more friends on MFP :)

Great. I had heard about You are your own gym and wasn't sure if it was well liked or not, by people who know their stuff anyway. I'll start there I think. Thanks so much JoRocka!!!!!

So what can someone like me do at home? With just hand weights and my body weight? Is that never going to be enough to be really fit? And then we have legs, and abs... do I need machines for those or just increase reps of squats and bicycle crunches etc? If I need to "lift heavy" to get where I want, does that mean heavy…
-
The biggest thing for me is not knowing how high to keep going up to. And how much do I increase... and could I get hurt if I do certain moves with high weights? I dunno. LOL. I need a trainer or something.
-
I started off with 3s as she recommends, then 5s then 7s 5s are a struggle now, but they work for the videos I have access to. So I suppose Ill make a point to lift heavier without videos, as I can't do her stuff with 15s LOL. My fiance has 10s I can work up to. After that, I suppose I'll get 15s and so on.
-
Yep. I had the same shape but smaller at 161 (I'm 5'9") I definitely want to change my shape. Bless you all for your help :)
-
Thank you!!! Love how helpful everyone is here :) Changes in composition are so important to me, even more so once I get closer to a goal weight. With those videos I wasn't very happy with my changes. I hadn't really changed much in ages and that's why I gave up. Can't wait until I can get better equipment and/or join the…

By "lift heavy" could I do that at home with just weights or are we talking gym equipment?
