  • It is rough just starting. I did (began) c25k in April 2011. I thought running 30 seconds was one of the hardest things I've had to do. Each time the intervals went up I was scared I couldn't do it. Somehow I did. Pure determination maybe. And now, I'm training for my 2nd marathon. You just have to believe that you CAN do…
  • Use the couch to 5k program
  • I began running in April 2011 following the c25k plan I completed my first... 5k in September 2011 half marathon in May 2012 triathlon in August 2012 marathon in November 2012. I've done... two 5k one 10k trail run one 15k three half marathons one marathon one triathlon Am currently signed up for to still complete this…
  • I like the idea of the butterfly more than numbers or a scale. I got one after I completed my first marathon - it has a quote and Celtic turtles and other Celtic symbols - each piece of mine represents something.
  • I ALWAYS go over in sugar, but most of the time it's because of fruit, not refined sugars. Sounds like you are in the same boat. I personally, whether it's right or wrong, don't usually pay much attention to the sugar amounts when I know it's because of fruits.
  • I have no experience with it since I am in Stage 1 of NROL, but it sounds like stronglifts 5x5 might be up your alley.

  • I would recommend getting fitted if you haven't already. Find a local bike shop and go in and talk to them, get fitted, explain what you'll be using it for (racing, just for fitness, etc.). I have a road racing bike that we got from someone but it does NOT fit me. So I'm saving up to buy a new one. I'm looking at $1500 - I…

  • Are you sure you mean Chobani? My chobani ingredient list says nothing about artificial ingredients? To answer OP - you can see, we eat Chobani.
  • I should have said this too - I know several people that use jelly beans. I've tried lots of different things, and even if it is all mental (half of it is I'm sure), I know what works for me. Plus like a previous post, I'm hypoglycemic and must replenish on runs. You have to find exactly what works for you. :) Also - In my…
  • heybales - I did use the lower time for my long run to help come up with the activity level because I don't do long runs every week, so I did correctly there. I get what you say about the extra calories for longer runs. For the last year I've been doing it the MFP way of eating back all exercise calories (I was on the 1200…
  • I used a combo of the Hal Higdon and the Jeff Galloway plan for my training (for both my half and full marathons) http://www.jeffgalloway.com/training/half_marathon.html I am not fast - it takes me 2:45 to do a half and 5:50 to do a full (I've only done one full). So let's see - did you get a gait analysis for your shoes…
  • I always recommend getting fitted at a running store. Yes, I know you said you don't run, but they can do an analysis and fit you with the right shoe regardless.
  • Great Job! I am a 1200 calorie flunkee - but now I think I'm doing it all right because I lost 3.5 inches (gained a half inch in my calf? Maybe I measured wrong, that's the last place I need to gain inches) in one week by upping my calories and doing New Rules of Lifting. I didn't lose 3lbs, but I'm okay with that! I eat…
  • Yeah that's what I read yesterday on someone's blog...that she knew when she started to cut that the first part of weight loss would be a lot of water from bulking.
  • Tomorrow will be my third workout (2nd time in A) and I'm a runner too. Ran 2 on Tuesday and 3.2 today. I have a long run scheduled for Sunday - will make for an interesting time! A new adventure we have ahead if us!!!
  • I ran 2 miles on Tuesday and 3.2 today. My legs were aching when I woke up this morning (from the lunges yesterday) but I decided to give a run a try. I felt fantastic and actually had a better pace than I've had in a while. I'm not a fast runner (usually average 11:30 pace because I run/walk) but today I had a 10:30 pace.…

  • Could you please add me?
  • maybe it's already been said - I didn't read through all 5 pages, but Aldi is owned by the same people as Trader Joe's. Which is why they have a lot of natural products that don't contain HFCS and all that extra junk. Sure, there are still a lot of things that do, but I love that their breads and bagels are HFCS free!
  • Thanks so much everyone! The pictures do really help me realize how far I've already come. I'm 5'7" As for exercise - just running. I run 3x per week...I'm training for a half marathon in May. I do 1200 calories - and eat my exercise calories. I JUST started the Jamie Eason LiveFit to help tone, but that was just in the…
  • Thanks. It's my goal bikini - it's the one I wore on my honeymoon 8 years ago after I'd lost 30 pounds (babies and stress brought back the weight LOL)
  • I plan on starting tonight. BUT, I'll be doing cardio because I'm in training for a half marathon. So, more like continuing cardio.
  • quite possibly. I have several friends who've said the same thing. I was just glad to know I wasn't the only one whose butt got bigger. It's amazing how much you use your butt muscles to run! Actually, if you've never read it, you should check out "Born to Run." Excellent motivational book. BUT, it also helped explain my…
  • google Hal Higdon or Jeff Galloway
  • Well, I'm just starting back this time (gained back after babies). But it 2002 when I lost 30lbs I went from 173 and size 12-14 to 140 and size 6. That took March to October.
  • I did c25k in April-June 2011 - I think it's a fantastic program. It feels near impossible each time you move up, but once you run that 90 seconds, 3 minutes, 5 minutes...it makes you feel amazing! I lead a group doing c25k in Sept-October and it was so much fun to watch them improve and tackle it each week. I myself am…
  • 1/1/12 -- 1/16/12 170.8 -- 166.4 The first week I started eating better/keeping track of calories and running 3x/week (I've been running since April 2011) The 2nd week I continued what I did first week and added Ripped in 30. The after pics are after 4 times of week 1. You can tell the most difference in the last (back)…
