I'm afraid it's not as simple as low fat or low carb...you need both. But oil is a fat and sugar is a source of carbs. What you really are looking for are "nutrient dense" foods...that is foods that maximize the range of nutrients. I have lost 31 pounds since August 2011...I will lose almost nothing for weeks, then boom...then another plateau, then boom. Sad thing is, I want to have lost over 100 lbs by the end of July...might not be till July 2013.

Before the 5k, I was up to between 40 and 50 min on the elliptical trainer. Since last week's PL meet, I've only had gas for 30 min, so it looks like back to the bottom of the hill to climb up again. Next 5k is on Memorial Day weekend (Go Girl 5 k and half marathon); next meet is USAPL Raw Nationals in August.
