  • Oh, and by the way, it syncs automatically to the Cybex machines at my gym (elliptical, treadmill, stairclimber)
  • I purchased one on amazon.com made by Omron and I love it. It was only $30, and I got free shipping. It has made a huge difference in the intensity of my workouts, since it gives me an actual number to guide me. I thought the chest strap would be uncomfortable, but not at all. Just be sure to clean it regularly, as the…
  • Local networking- in my younger days I worked in 3 locally owned restaurants, 2 of which I helped open. All 3 are still doing well, and I noticed that they all make sure to keep up with their customers on a personal level. Always being interested in their families, jobs, and other endeavors. It creates a bond with that…
  • only maintaining this week. I was hoping my body was just adjusting to the extra work. I'm probably gonna stick with it another week to see if I lose anything. I'm sleeping like a rock, and feel great when I get up (except for a little muscle soreness). Is it okay to do a little light cardio on my day of rest? (Sundays)
  • I just started MFP in January myself, and I have lost 13 pounds. There is definitely alot of support from this community. I log in everyday and am always finding new information, similar frustrations, and just funny stories. I also like how easy it is to log food and exercise on MFP. Good luck, hope you reach your goal by…
  • I don't have experience with Fluoxetine, but I do know that workouts increase your testosterone levels. I found myself moody and emotional when I first started strength training, and as I read up on it, found that this is a common experience, although most men don't recognize or admit it. Kudos to you for having the sack…
  • McCormick make a "Rotisserie Chicken" rub that I use all the time, my wife and kids love it. As for the soup, after you clean the meat from the bones, just boil them for about 20 minutes. This will soften any bits of meat left (I take it off the bone and leave it in the broth) and draw the marrow out for flavor. I like to…
  • I workout early in the morning, and there's a clan of them in the locker room. It's like they have to do it. Think maybe they have a blog called "Dear thirtysomething homophobic guy in the locker room"...
  • Great job! Proof that it can be done. Thanks for sharing.
  • My top 3 are: 1) 24 hour gyms ( I like to work out between 4 and 6 am, it's not crowded and gets my day off to a good start) 2) my ipod ( my music always sets the tempo for my workout) 3) my heart rate monitor ( I can tell when I'm slacking when I go below a certain heart rate)
  • MFP's number is based on your basal metabolic rate, which is what your body burns in normal biological functions. You burn so many calories a day just breathing, mending/repairing tissue, pumping blood through your body, etc. As far as the HRM, I wouln't count anything unles you are actually exercising(walking included).
  • Just started HIIT on the elliptical this week. Does it matter to change the days when you lift?
  • It's usually only 150-250 cals below MFP's number. I've been working out for about a year and a half. I started out at 258 pounds. I quit smoking in July 2010, and going to the gym was part of that. I lost 30 pounds in about 8 months, but held there for another 2 months. I got frustrated, so I slacked off a little. I was…
  • Don't think it's undereating because my exercise is the only reason I'm below my suggested calorie intake. FR me and you can see.
  • I quit smoking a year and a half ago, and going to the gym helped with that. I smoked for 12 years, so the lung damage was noticeable when I started cardio. Just set realistic goals and challenge yourself a little more each week. This will keep off the weight usually gained with quitting the cancer sticks. Good luck!
