Interesting, I have found the same thing for some time. I just wrote at off. But I do have to be careful to half something to drink whenever I eat anything larger than a small snack. I might have to look into some of this.

The bitter pill is you need to be active in order for fibro to feel better. But of course this is an insurmountable task when you are in pain. But I can attest from my experience that it does work. For me, lowering gluten in my diet, taking Malic Acid pills (like Fibro-Response), and slowly working out starting with an…

The primary ingredients in FibroResponse are Malic Acid & Magnesium. I started taking these on their own and noticed the imrprovement. But it is important to get the balance right. Some research turned up FibroResponse which has it already amongst other things. I still swear by this stuff (I have nothing to do with them…

My girlfriend and I both have fibro -- we were made for each other! ;-) But she has terrible flair-ups whenever the weather changes. So you are not alone.

Exercise helps my pain. But it is a long, slow, gradual process. You cant just start running a 10k. Start by walking a half mile. Then a mile. Then two miles. The try running a quarter mile. etc. It took me about three years to get where I am now. 5 years ago I couldn't handle grocery shopping because of the pain. Tonight…

Yes, I take four every morning. However, I am a big guy so if you are say under 170 pounds, three may suffice. I have never had the reverse probably that Deanna has. I find that interesting -- an unfortunate. I guess we are all a little bit different. fjrandol, please let me know how this worked for you. Make sure you give…

@jillrobin82 - I agree it isn't just wait. When I was heavier that is what most people just figured. But I discovered fibro about a year after losing 70 pounds and was in the best shape of my life running over 20 miles per week and lighting weights 3x per week and was eating like a champ. I was doing nothing wrong for my…

I don't advocate fasting as a weight loss method -- it is counter to what I understand. It will only slow your metabolism and make it harder to lose weight and your starve your body of nutrients. HOWEVER, makes me wonder if it isn't the fasting but the elimination of some other foods that are the triggers. But I looked at…

FIBRO RESPONSE UPDATE My sister has MS and I gave her some to try. And she notice a marked improvement also. She hasn't been specifically diagnosed with Fibro but I believe only because it is hidden and confounded with her MS symptoms. I honestly think this stuff saved me. It allowed me the opportunity to finally get…

I hope cymbalta works for you. If you read these blogs you will see I hated Cymbalta. Doctors don't know what to do and this was approved by the FDA so that is what they prescribe. Not telling you to ignore your doctor by any means, but I would challenge him on that prescription rather than think they know what they are…

$12 for just Malic Acid or $25 for a months supply with the proper mix of vitamins and minerals to help you body absorb it. It is silly to suffer when something so simple could make such a difference in your life. Malic Acid is nothing but concentrated apple or grape acids without any of the sugars. It may not work for…

I had really bad Plantar Faciitis a few years ago. It was driving me nuts! I have fibromyalgia and when the PF was painful it would trigger a fibro flare up and I would me completely miserable the rest of the day (full body aches and feeling like I had a fever). I did the whole foot doctor thingy, had the custom fancy…

Has anyone besides me ever tried the Malic Acid route? It may not be sexy and interesting because you don't need a prescription, but I'll be damned if it doesn't really work. I started with OTC Malic acid alone and noticed a marked improvement in how I felt. Then I found you need the right amount of Potassium and others as…

Store or mall shopping is a great way. But it usually gets pretty expensive. I need to learn to "just look". LOL
-
Wow! I figured the same things out. " For me it is stress, sugar, nutrasweet and excessive wheat." Along with poor sleeping habits is a guaranteed flareup. I felt horrible over Christmas as my folks house because of course my mother has nothing to eat but cookies, some cookies, and bread. I didn't move the day after…

I have not noticed any scale impacts from flareups medically. But I will certainly be much less active, depressed, and likely eat more than usual. A triple whammy!
-
As others have said, the best is low impact and take it easy. Start slow and only do what your body allows at any given time. But the key is to not give up. If you keep pushing through and repeating, it does get better. For me, I like to use an elliptical machine. I can catch up on my TV shows, don't need to worry about…

Fibro can be frustrating with exercise. The funny thing (or cruel) is that the best way I have found to fight fibro is to work out more and be more active. Believe me -- it is sooo hard when you are in pain. Take is slow, do what you can BUT DO NOT STOP. Great you did the 20 minutes today (or November) but make sure you do…

Now that I have made some significant changes in my life over the past six months, I thought I would post an update and maybe provide hope for others. For most of the past six months I have been very careful to follow the MFP regime. I used my elliptical a lot (more earlier on) and walk whenever I get a chance for a couple…

You are not alone. There are more of us out there than you think. I have been recently divorced and I think FM was the largest component. Her lack of understanding my pain and fatigue turned into disappointment in me that I was so "unengaged" and "irritable". well, duh... I felt like crap all the time. I felt as though I…

Cymbalta is definitely the cause of being tired. It completely wiped me out for the first several months. It does it better but you never really have the energy you have without. Getting off Cymbalta is just as bad if not worse. I don't think the minor incremental benefits of Cymbalta are worth it -- at least for me.…

BrendaLee - Interesting observations. I have never heard of any of those besides the genetic theory. My sister has MS and I believe FM which is obviously dwarfed by the MS. So any environmental impacts we would be equally exposed. I never had a significant chicken pox -- it was extremely mild and worse I never had it.…

I think Cymbalta was partly the root of a lot of my life problems. Now they want me to go on an antidepressant for the mood helps. But I am scared to death because they all seem to have the same side effects. I don't want to be on ANY drugs.
-
Very well done. Some things I would add: As you are successful in your weight loss and it is signficant, your BMR starts going down and you can't eat the same and lose weight at the same rate anymore. This is the second plateau that I have seen. So as you lose significant weight, you need to either decrease your calories…

My current shoes have ample toe room - too much if anything perhaps. I did try just using socks and no shoes but that didn't lost long because of the aggressive tread pattern on my machine -- it was hurting my feet in a different way! Last night I tired using these Crocs Rx that I have. They are really glorified slippers…

@amisnercpa My Octane 47ci is incredible. I really enjoy the feel and it is a nice looking machine. I ended up putting it in my bedroom, and surprisingly it matches well since it is decorated in grey and silver! :) PROS + Cardio Chest Monitor - I like the cardio chest monitor and works very well. There is a program that…

@Pifflesmom - The good news is if you continue to fight the pain, you will be more fit and healthy so your stamina or duration before the pain is bad will be longer and longer. Hopefully to where you will be able to better handle the exercise without pain. If you did the opposite, you will be able to do less and less until…

Very interesting discussion. My son had low muscle tone when he was a baby and therefore he was almost two years old before he could walk. He has seem to outgrow it over time. But I definitely will keep an eye on him with this in mind. He is 8 yo now.
-
@iddreams - My story is consistent with your opinion. My sister has MS but I believe that she also has FM that is just overshadowed by the MS -- all of her pain issues just get associated with MS of which she was officially diagnosed and not FM which she was never diagnosed. My pain started after a significant weight loss…

Are there any side effects you experienced with Savella? Yes, I hated the night sweats on Cymbalta, too. It was pretty gross. I started buying new pillows every few weeks because of it. Since getting off Cymbalta for about 6 mos now, I have been able to keep the same pillow! Hooray!
