Looks like pretty standard good information. :) I'm glad this wasn't food myth-a-palooza. Everything you said in there is what I, and hundreds of MFPers have had success with.

    Very well done.

    Some things I would add:
As you are successful in your weight loss and it is signficant, your BMR starts going down and you can't eat the same and lose weight at the same rate anymore. This is the second plateau that I have seen. So as you lose significant weight, you need to either decrease your calories or increase your exercise but the best defense is weight training. By building more muscle, you keep your BMR up since muscle takes much more energy to maintain while resting than fat.

Also, I would like to learn more about the cheat day and fasting combination? Why? How does it impact weight loss and metabolism?

The cheat days ensure my leptin levels are kept regulated and reduces the effects of your metabolism slowing down as a result of calorie restriction. The fasting I tried for the first time this week and had amazing results - exercised on the same day (the day after I began the fasting in the evening) and had a really strong session in the gym. As far as the science goes, I can't really explain it as it's quite complex but I believe your glycogen stores are depleted heavily while you fast which means your body has to take the fuel from fat. Something like that :P Anyway, the end result was a visible difference in my neck line the next day - very surprising how well it worked.
