I'm very similar to you. I mostly do yoga, with some weekend hikes thrown in. I lost about 25 lbs almost 2 years ago. I am up 3 right now, but will work back down. I subscribe to yoga glo, and do an hour a day.

Try going up to your tip toes, as if you were going to jump forward, but then put your heels back down. And melt your shoulders down and back as much as you can. Like some of the instructors say "put some up dog into your down dog"

I measure things that it's easy for me to go overboard on, like cereal and trail mix. I think it is a really great weight loss strategy

All i do is yoga. Love it! I do it every single day for an hour. You've gotten a lot of great suggestions here, Kristen McGee and Bob Harper especially. I also adore the Bryan Kest Power yoga DVD. Now I subscribe to Yoga Glo. $18 a month.

Thanks Carl. I sent a message through FB to one of the Yoga Glo instructors I adore and she wrote back! Very similar to what you said. totally normal. it's the weight bearing on the arms. . .this will go away as you get more control in your core and upper back. until then, they're badges of honor:)

I lost all my weight (20 lb) just doing yoga and I'm pretty toned! I do it every day, so that is a LOT of pushups! I'm currently working on being able to hold a handstand in the middle of the room.

I lost all my weight just doing yoga, but I didn't have a ton to lose. I don't have big muscles, but I'm pretty well defined. It takes a lot of strength to hold side plank, plank, backbends, etc. Yoga gives me everything I need. :)

I'm super bummed out about this. I really rely on yogaglo, and I'm ****SERIOUSLY**** worried this is going to bring them down. What they should focus on as their competitive differentiators are their instructors, who are amazing.

Pilates flattened my stomach to a degree I would never believe possible as a 39 yo mom! I do the Kristen McGee Pilates dvd 2x a week.

I'm the same way, eventually the straight leg stretches came to me though!

It's interesting, my left foot always has swelling leftover from a childhood car accident that did something to the drainage in that leg. Since I started doing yoga, the swelling has gone down, it's not gone, but much, much better.

Whatever you decide, I think you'll find that the yoga crowd is not intimidating like other activities.

Such negativity! There is more than one way to do this. I did 1200 when I was losing (I've been in maintenance for 15 months). You do get "bonus" calories in that you can add on whatever you burn with exercise. Good luck!
