  • Did W2D3 this morning, it was a bit tough. I had to take a few days off to allow my injured muscle a rest, which is probably why. I had to wait for a reasonable temperature as well, it was 34 degrees the last couple of days, no way could I run in that heat. I'm really nervous about week 3. Three minutes seems like such a…
  • Just did L1D6 of 30DS - today's workout was the easiest by far. I finally managed to do both sets of side lunges/lateral raises! That's huge for me, it was the one exercise I always struggled with. I'm going on holiday for the next 10 days - I'm going to try and do as much exercise as I can but we'll see how I go.
  • Day 6 of level 1 done! I had to take two days off of exercise as I pulled a muscle near my tailbone while doing C25K - but it was much better this morning and I got through the workout without any twinges. In fact, the small break must have done me good, because today was the easist so far - in fact - I got through both…
  • I'm doing C25K as well - my plan is to do C25K 3 days a week and 30DS 3 days a week.
  • It looks to me like you've gotten trimmer around the waist/stomach area - if you continue I'm sure after 20 days there will be a noticeable difference.
  • Just did W2D2 today - I'm happy with my progress so far. I started from being really unfit - so the fact that I can run for 90 seconds without stopping is huge for me! I'm walking/running outside - which I think would be a lot more enjoyable - I've never run on a treadmill before as I've never been to a gym. What are they…
  • It depends on your fitness level - I think 5mph (a 12 minute mile) is a good pace for beginners. But whatever you feel comfortable at really.
  • I have the C25K app from Active.com on my iphone - it shows a map of my route and that I went 3.64km in 31 minutes on W2D2. That's about 2.2 miles. It's so useful - I love it!
  • I completed W2D2 earlier - I managed to significantly increase my speed from W2D1 which I'm really pleased with. I even managed to run up a bit of a hill, which is the first time I've managed that. I think I'll keep on taking it really easy on the first day of the week so I know I can actually do it and then push myself a…
  • Day 5 done today! I very nearly skipped it, but I made myself do it. It's not getting much easier - I still can't do both sets of side lunges with lateral shoulder raises. It's weird, the bicep curls are easy with my 2kg (4.4lb) weights, I barely feel them, but my arms refuse to do the forward shoulder lifts for very long.
  • Just did W2D1 of C25K - I managed it, it wasn't easy at first and I took it really slow but I got through the whole set without stopping. Very pleased. My legs didn't have any pleasant afterburn, so I decided to do L1D4 of the 30DS about an hour later. Boy was it hard - I had to take a couple 5 second breaks and I still…
  • It's summer here - so I do my exercise after dinner when it's cooled down a bit. I'm totally not a morning person, so getting up early is not for me. I don't even think about exercise till at least 7.30pm - the sun doesn't go down till 8.30pm this time of year, so it's the perfect time to get out for a walk/jog. I…
  • I did W2D1 today - I managed to get throught it okay! I took it really easy with the jogging pace, my time wasn't very quick but I really pushed myself on the last jogging set and jogged as fast as I could. It felt good!
  • Just did L1D3 - for some reason it was harder than day 2. I hope it gets easier eventually! Those side lunges with lateral shoulder raises kill me every time - I had to shift to front raises half way through the second set - my arms just refuse to do that move any more! I'm only doing the 30DS every alternate day - so…
  • I'm only on level 1 but can I add my vote to the side lunges and anterior lifts - I hate them.
  • I'm so glad I found this thread! I'm just starting out - and I decided to alternate the C25K and 30DS last week. Today I just finished W1D3 of C25K and tomorrow I'll be doing L1D3 of the shred. Yesterday (Sunday) was my rest day and boy did I need it - my arms were aching really badly from the strength exercises from the…
  • Just finished W1D3! I think I'll move to week 2 next - I was going to stay on week 1 longer because I was really unfit - but I think I'm ready to give jogging for 90 secs a go. I know it's going to seem like an eternity and be really hard - but if I don't try, I won't know if I can do it. I'm also going on holiday next…
  • I'm severely anaemic and I hate iron tablets too they make me really constipated and it doesn't seem to matter how much fibre I eat. I'm taking a herbal iron tonic (Floradix - don't know if it's available in the US), I've just started, but so far no bad side effects. I'll have to see in a couple of months if it improves my…
  • Do a search on green tea and anaemia - the results convinced me that people with anaemia shouldn't have green tea - but read the evidence yourself so you can come to your own decision.
  • Thank you for this info! My doctor says I'm severly anaemic, I was going to try some green tea reading all the good things about it, but I'll definitely skip it now. Having done a quick bit of Googling - this advice is good - green tea blocks non-heme iron absobancy (even pro-green tea websites mention this) - and I need…
  • Hi Catherine! C25K is short for Couch to 5km run. Here are the details of the programme on the Cool Runnings website: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml You'll have to copy and paste sorry I don't know how to make a link. I've recently done day 2 - I'm loving it so far and I am sooo unfit and have never been…
  • Day 2 done! It was much easier than day one, my endurance is getting better, the strength exercises kill me though. That second set of side lunges and forward arm lifts really got me, I had to rest for about 10 seconds and then made myself finish them. But that was the only time I stopped - so I'm really proud of myself!…
  • That's brilliant! You can definitely see a difference.
  • Just did day 2! I started this late and am only doing it every alternate day. I managed to get through the whole workout without stopping - which is a big improvement on day 1. The strength exercises kill me though - I only have 2kg (4.4lb) weights and as someone who's never done strength training before it is so…
  • Just did W1D2 yesterday. It's going good so far - I feel great after finishing the workout. It's been good weather though since I started. Don't know how I'll go if there's torrential rain - i'd probably wait till the weather got better.
  • Did W1D2 today and I feel great! Managed to get through the whole thing comfortably - no unusual pains - and I could have done another jogging set but I'm following the programme. My legs are nicely sore - the good sore of having done hard work - not the bad injury sore. I'm really nervous about getting injured, so I'm…
  • Hi guys - I'm Angela, I'm 5'6 and 33 years old from New Zealand. My starting weight is: 68kg (150 pounds) My current weight is: 66.5kg (147 pounds) My goal weight is: 60kg (132 pounds) So I have about 15 pounds to lose! For most of my adult life I hovered between 60-62kg, but in the last couple of years my weight has…
  • This is me too, I want to lose about 15 pounds and I definitely want to tone up and get healthier. I've put on the weight over the last two years so I'm fairly confident of getting back to my former weight, but this time I want to lose the stomach flab. Progress is good so far! While I'm still in the normal range for my…
  • I dowloaded the Couch-to- 5k app from Active.com for iPhone - it's brilliant. It was on sale for only $1.29NZ - which is $1US. It's great, you can choose 3 different trainers - you listen to your own music - the trainers voice will tell you what to do and when you're half way there. You can lock your phone - it doesn't…
  • Well done Melly!
