  • You’re only five months postpartum. I’ve been there 4x. Inconsistent sleep, inconsistent routine, and feeling uncomfortable in your body. I totally understand. Losing the weight takes TIME and CONSISTENCY and PATIENCE. You see these instant transformation posts everywhere and they’re just not really realistic. I will say…
  • This is awesome! Six pounds heavier but visibly a lot leaner. As far as cutting, IMO, you already look nice and lean, so don't stress it too much. Take it slow (sustainable) and keep your lifting routine. You look incredible! Great hard work. You should be proud of yourself.
  • Another vote for negatives! Do them often. Three to four times a week.
  • Ok, just my two cents. I don’t personally *believe* in sugar “addiction” per se (because I’ve never found myself eating straight sugar out of the bin during a craving) BUT I have an extremely difficult time moderating sweets. It is easier for me to have NO chocolate than one piece. So my solution (for me) is just to not…
  • Your title made me want to give you a hug! Feel free to friend me. I struggle occasionally with this too, but I am slowly but surely figuring it out. Binge eating is so hard. Your brain has wired itself to see binge eating as necessary for survival. Your lower brain thinks “go, binge” and so you believe you have to do it.…
  • What does your calorie intake look like? Are you under-eating? Also, are you getting sufficient sleep? When my nutrition and/or sleep are suffering, my performance in the gym drops like a rock. Also, I don’t know what your diet looks like, but don’t underestimate the value of carbs before your workout.
  • If you have been maintaining on 3000, it’s likely you won’t gain at all on 1600 even when you stop breastfeeding. That seems low. For me *personally*, the extreme hunger went away when I stopped breast-feeding. I didn’t handle hunger well during breast-feeding, it seemed to say “If you’re this hungry, you’re not making…
  • I always include banded kickbacks in my glute activation exercises!
  • I, too, just run. I try to alternate each mile where I’m striking. Sometimes the cadence of a particular song I’m listening to helps me stay on the balls of my feet. My husband is absolutely convinced you need to strike on the ball, but that just won’t work for me 100% of the time. I haven’t researched it extensively : )
  • This approach is “finish line” thinking. There is no “finish line” in fitness. It’s best to fall in love with the lifestyle, as there’s just no way you’ll ever look in the mirror and think, “Now I’m perfectly fit.” Learn how to appreciate how exercise and good nutrition make you feel so much stronger and more confident.…
  • Confidence is owning your choices! Own your choice, acknowledge you enjoyed it, and move on! I know you are disciplined. I can almost guarantee you this will have zero impact on your long-term.
  • I had two boys and then my third was a girl, so YES I am definitely glad I had #3. Would life be easier and quieter with just the top two? Yes! Would I give her back? (Or her little brother?) Nope. :)
  • Yes! Homeschooling mom of four (only schooling two- other two are toddlers). I think truly everyone is so busy these days! It’s really about what you’ll prioritize. Good luck to you!
  • Hi! Welcome! I live in Michigan! My motivational tip would be this: you will almost never feel motivated. Do it anyway! 😁
  • I gained 25 pounds with that pregnancy, and in retrospect it was all pregnancy related tissue and fluid because it came off almost instantly. The reason I was so diligent with number four was because I had circulation issues that were becoming worse with each pregnancy. I tried to keep weight gain to a minimum because I…
  • First, talk to your doctor about YOUR recommended weight gain. If you are within normal BMI range, I think the recommendation is 15 to 25 pounds. Next, I had a really healthy pregnancy for baby number four by tracking my macros, getting enough protein, and exercising consistently. By the last ten weeks, I could only walk…
  • That is helpful. Thank you!
  • I got a Beachbody on Demand subscription and I LOVE it! It’s so great to be able to try them all. Right now I’m doing Insanity Max30 as I’m trying to increase endurance and it packs a LOT into a half hour.
  • At this point my weekly schedule looks like this: Sunday- rest Monday- lifting (full body) Tuesday- insanity (trying to increase endurance) Wednesday- fast, no workout Thursday- lifting (full body- afternoon- after a meal or two) Friday- insanity Saturday- lifting (full body) I’m tracking macros to make sure my protein is…
  • Thanks guys. @sardelsa - recomping basically.
  • If I can maintain the surplus, do you think the loss of any muscle during that period will be significant?
  • It sounds like a good split to me. But you said you’re exhausted? Find a schedule that is maintainable for YOU so that you can be consistent. I follow the program in Bret Contreras’s book Strong Curves, which has you working full body 3-4 times per week. After struggling for so many months to get that fourth day in, I’ve…
  • Check out the Brain Over Binge podcast- it's been really helpful for me. I was weekend binge eating because 1. habit and 2. insufficient sleep, and 3. over restricting calories M-F. You CAN break out of it. Good luck.
  • Can't wait to listen, thank you!
  • Breastmilk is high in sugar, for good reason. Without sufficient carbs in your diet, your milk will not have the necessary nutritional profile to sustain your baby. Carbs, being one of the three macros that feed our bodies, ARE "nutritionally magical."
  • Another voice of caution - I tried keto/LCHF while exclusively nursing by #2. My baby was a sweetheart and never complained, so I had no idea he wasn't getting enough. (I have exclusively breastfed three other babies successfully, so it was not my supply that was problematic.) He continued to trend down in percentile…
  • What new things are you trying, @sardelsa? 25 lbs in 8 weeks is quick work @dasmyth! It sounds like your process has been fairly fast. Did you see some good gains from your bulk? How long did you bulk? And how is your physique at 179 comparing to your '165 lb skinny twig' look? My own cut has definitely slowed down, but I…
  • Thank you! Can't wait to check this out! Everyone has given me some great tips, thank you guys so much. Had a good soul searching moment (haha) and I've decided I'd like to see some growth in a couple other areas as well as the glutes, so I will be running a long SLOW bulk this winter for all of that. Thanks again…
  • You are going to feel better after that FIRST workout. I promise! It's hard to stay motivated. But it's also hard to have pretty clothes that don't fit, to look in the mirror and dislike what you see, or to not be able to live the life you want without getting out of breath. You have to choose your hard.
