My goal weight is the weight at which my blood pressure, stressed heart rate and breathing are optimal for my age as near as I can tell and at which I know I won't have a sick muffin top.

Not sure...It probably has to do with having enough calories to maintain basic bodily function. Extended failure to do so could compromise some essential functions (think: kidneys, heart, brain, blood sugar/insulin balance)...At least that's what I think about. Hold on to the sides at first, then free a hand to make normal running arm movements, then the other. Also, you might try to run a little slower at first. Hang in there, you'll get it.
