  • You can log it a few different ways. Aerobic dance, is one way. I chose to create my own category, and I enter the calories manually, based on what I burned according to my heart rate monitor. There are a few websites that can tell you approx how much you burn, but I find they often overestimate, giving me at least 100…
  • I am not on track today. I was. Then I fell off the track. BUT I will GET BACK ON TRACK because I have done it before, and I know I can get back and do it again. And I will stay on track tomorrow because I don't like my pants cutting off circulation to my legs.
  • Bring water, wear comfy workout clothes, and dont' worry if you get lost a few times, and please don't let that stop you from going again and again. You WILL get it after a few times, you'll start to see the familiar moves used in different songs, and most of all, it is so much fun!

  • Zumba in class is far better, but the Zumba games can be a good workout too. Just know that the games tend to overestimate how much you actually burned. I wear a HRM when I do Zumba Wii and I burn consistently 100 or more calories LESS than what it claims I burned. That being said, it is fun exercise, and makes for a great…
  • I can't speak to running sneaks b'c I am not a fan of running at this point in my life. However, for Zumba, I had to look for sneakers that either had a 'pivot spot' like some dance shoes have, or something that doesn't have a ton of traction b'c I wore my regular cross-trainer sneaks to my first Zumba class [not knowing…
  • I don't know about the Polar, but the HRM I have allows me to customize it. I can choose Female, my age, my height, my weight, my activity level, what heart rate levels I want to work out at, and more. It's nice, b'c as you lose weight you can adjust the weight figure on the HRM, so it will continue to give you accurate…
  • Yes, you can definitely count that. I have an HRM with chest strap, but on the days I forget the strap, I do what you do, and check it in between songs at Zumba. sometimes I'll try to check it during a song, just to get the added recording in there. It usually puts me at 500-550 total, and with chest strap I usually burn…
  • I just add it as a custom exercise - though if you want to use something from MFP database I think they have a dance category, or something similar. I have a heart rate monitor, so I know exactly how many calories to enter - but a lot of people use any one of many sites out there that can estimate calorie burn for you.…
  • My all-time high burn from an hour of Zumba class was 738 calories. My average is more like 560-650, depending on how much I am able to put into class that night. On the Wii - for the "full" program I usually burn between 300-400, again, depending on which "class" I choose, and how much I put into it. I love my HRM, I have…

  • First time trying one of these challenges. Figured it can't hurt to give it a whirl. SW: 205 CW: 173 GW: 160 Ultimate Goal Weight: 130-140? Not sure about this one. Maybe this challenge will be just what I need to get out of my latest plateau. - Val
  • Definitely go with what your HRM says. MFP told me I burned 700 calories in an hour of Zumba. And that might be true on some days, however, most days it's more like 550 or so. The HRM is going to be far more accurate than MFP.
  • Totally agree with other posters. Get it. You won't regret it. It's a great workout - and so many better options than Just Dance. I have one of the Just Dance for Wii and I hardly use it. Love my Zumba more. :)
  • I have it, and I LOVE it. My only two complaints are minor... 1. The wii controller goes in the belt that comes with it - and with some of the moves it slides a bit and I have to push it back into the "holster" thing. Mostly squat moves and bends. 2. To find your statistics [i.e. workout times, length, calories burned etc]…
  • I use the calories it tells me [you'll have to look under Stats on the Zumba Wii game] and I enter that as an add my own exercise thing. I'm not sure it's always 100% accurate, but w/o a heart rate monitor I figure it's close enough.
  • As long as you are feeling good and you know you look good - well..that's what really matters. Sure, the compliments are great - though I wouldn't know, it's been a while. Hahah. Seriously though - compliments are great, but if you don't get them from the co-workers, try not to let it get you down. You know you're making…
  • I just got the Wii Zumba and it is AWESOME. It will be a small learning curve if you have never done Zumba before. [I have] I have to say though - once you start doing the routines [other options include one song, learn the moves, etc.] you can choose from a short class, medium class [45 min] or a full class - 60 minutes…
  • I could always use a few more friends to support me along the way. My oldest [daughter] is 6 nearing 7, and my youngest [son] just turned 4. I've been battling up and down since my first was born. Hormone issues, pregnancy issues, then post-PG issues all resulted in my overweight self.
  • None today. :( Started my morning off with a migraine. Worked until 7:30. Then it was bath/bedtime hassle with kids and apparently my 4-year old is not interested in sleeping tonight. I'm just now sitting down to check in here at 10:30 PM, after putting him back to bed yet again. No time for Zumba Wii tonight. /sigh/ The…
  • Well I don't care for the scale, but I use it occasionally. I like to have an idea of where I am, so when I check in again I know whether it's gone up, or down. I try not to do weekly - b'c then I get worried and stressed about small fluctuations. So I randomly get on - sometimes every few weeks, sometimes monthly. I have…
  • I go twice a week, but would go just about daily if it fit my schedule. I LOVE my Zumba classes. I just got the Zumba 2 for the Wii and I got the Gold's Gym Dance thing for the Wii [has some zumba-like moves] so I hope to incorporate those on some evenings as my schedule allows. I have a full-time job, two young kids, and…
