  • When I started I was told I could eat 2100 calories a day....that wasn't counting any exercise calories. I weighed 264 when I started. There were times that I ate around 2200 to 2300 after eating some of my exercise calories. I have dropped 42 lbs thus far. I didn't believe it would work either but it does. As I have lost…
  • You can do this. If I can, anyone can. I have been big since I was a kid. I have always felt like I was sexy but I hid behind the whole phrase, "I look pretty hot for a fat chick." Then the scales hit 300 and it scared me to death. I am 34 with two little boys that I want to make sure I live a long life for. This time last…
  • My advise is to not deprive yourself. Every time I have deprived myself, I have ultimately ended up over indulging which is not what you want to do. Give yourself a treat and just make sure that you ration for it. I have discovered that is the key to success, or at least my success. Good luck on your journey.
  • Reba we all know each other well because lets face it most of our stories aren't all that different. I get a lot of support from people in my life but I am so addicted to logging in and checking on my MFP family as well. You can do this...this is not a fad diet this is a lifestyle change and you are in the drivers seat.…
  • Reba..... I understand how you feel. I have been on this site for almost 7 months now and I have lost 35 lbs. I have never stayed with it this long. • Welcome to MFP....I understand your story because it is oh so familiar. I started my journey at almost 300 lbs a year ago. I lost 36 lbs from January till July and then I hit a plateau. That is when I began MFP. I have dropped 35 lbs since then. I didn't have medical issues but a ton of major life setbacks that caused me…
  • I have been doing this for over 6 months. I do workout but I am not in the gym everyday. I watch my food intake and stay below my allotted calories almost everyday. I have lost 35 lbs since July. If you stick with it, this is the ultimate tool. Good luck on your journey.
  • Hi there. I understand you totally. I am a mother of two. I have been heavy all my life pretty much but I have really ballooned up since I have had my boys. I started at about 300 lbs when I started my weight loss journey but I weighted 264 when I started on here. I have dropped 35 lbs so far but I still have another 50 to…

  • Welcome to MFP. This site is amazing. I have done everything possible to lose weight and last year was my year. This site was one of the greatest things I found to help me. The support that you get on this site is amazing. The amount of motivation and encouragement you get from the other members is second to none.
  • Welcome to MFP. I know what you mean about wanting to do this for your son. I have a 7 and a 5 year old and I want to make sure that I am around for them. I have been doing this since July 2010 and I have never been able to get myself as motivated as I have this time around with the support and encouragement from my MFP…

  • Wow you look amazing. Keep up the good work.
  • Congratulations to you for already accomplishing so much. I plan on continuing to keep a calorie diary after I reach my goal because I think it makes me reflect when I know I am going to have to put down those calories.
  • Hi welcome to MFP. I totally understand where you are coming from. I am 34 with two boys 7 and 5. I am an Assistant Principal/Athletic Director at a large middle school. • I am almost always under but I am allotted 2000 calories because of how much I weight and the amount that I have set to lose each week. My calorie allotment has been going down the more weight I lose. I am always above the 1200 calories. I make sure of that because of the exact reason you stated, your metabolism slows…

  • My symptoms have really subsided a lot. I don't have near the bloating and water retention that I once did which I think helps with everything else. It has been just one pleasant side effect of losing weight.
  • I am not a big sweet lover but occasionally I crave chocolate. I checked on the data base and found chocolate that wouldn't make me feel to guilty. I found chocolate drops that were only 150 calories for 3. When I need a fix, I grab a couple. I also moved to eating gelato instead of ice cream. I have found some really good…
